    As I diver I am not fond of this cage diving practice, well I guess the cage is not the problem, but the chumming.
    I was diving in the Red Sea last year in waters with oceanic white tips and other sharks. It is amazing to witness them in the water. They are majestic at a distance, but we do not want to encourage them to come close to divers by associating us with food.

      I've been diving for over 20 years. There is one thing I learned about diving in waters with large predators.. don't. If you get caught in a bad situation in a long safety stop dive... you are a sitting duck. You don't feed ANY predator (not just sharks...) because not only do they associate divers with food but because of their large size you can easily be bitten or attacked. Conservation ( justly or not...) has increased shark numbers to the point where some areas I used to dive I no longer frequent. Don't put your life in someone else's hands. They are there for money... not you. Think it's just mistaken identity? Try this: ruclips.net/video/sUhdHQlUJi0/видео.html . It's not about mistaken... wrong place... wrong time... wrong activity... you're on the menu.

Throw some flour 1 cup and some curry powder 1 tablespoon "kerns" into the bag and chuck the ab slices in shake. Get oil hot then fry for 1 -2 mins. For a dipping sauce, equal parts mayo and tomato sauce mixes together and a decent squirt of hot taco sauce. Min n dip. Guarantee best abalone! Thanks for the episode. Cheers

    Large ships actually lower the sea level around them while under way, the shallower the water, the faster they go, the greater the effect. It's a consideration for large ships in harbours for sure. The QE2 years ago actually grounded (going into New York) because they did not take consideration for the effect, sometimes referred to as the squat effect. Wanting to see a Great White, who knows it might be more than happy to see you - dinner time. Frankly those teeth tell me all I want to know. You can see Orca's if you want off Gibraltar, the Orca's themselves do their best for you to go swimming with them 🙂 100 years ago... my house is much older than that (1850's) 🙂

      Calm your tits down..
      Where in Florida did they use to shark cage and for what sharks? Great whites?
      Chumming far away from the populated areas and off the beaten path, there’s no problem (if you look at their annual migration, mating places.
      People like yourself are probably nit aware tha5 the government are chumming up the waters close to beaches where an aggressive shark has been spotted (or several). to get them attracted to the drum lines (for the big 3 but also at times for smaller sharks as well.
      It’s just not in the news or being written about.
      Florida has way too many bull sharks for example which can be very vicious and aggressive (bull sharks have the highest levels of testosterone of all animals, ramming you like a bull, found in rivers, inlets can survive where fresh water meets salt water.

    • @KingOfFvckingEverything
      @KingOfFvckingEverything 3 месяца назад

      “Until the sharks started started attacking people” - There is absolutely NO way you or anyone else can prove your theory.
      It’s impossible to confirm that cage diving could be responsible for increased shark attacks. That’s just ludicrous and frankly irresponsibility shit posting,
      The real reason for mire shark attacks is the sharp increase of them everywhere. (Bulls, tubers, great whites etc7.
      They all need ro eat a lot. They are coming closer to shore to find food.
      But it’s often a case of mistaken identity or aggressive territorial behavior by some sharks.

    • @KingOfFvckingEverything
      @KingOfFvckingEverything 3 месяца назад

      Calm your tits down… There’s no way you or anyone can prove that shark age diving is responsible for more shark attacks.

    Colin I have had 100's of encounters with White Sharks surfing at Trail 1 San Onofre CA. They are not interested in eating us. But they are inquisitive. I had 1 encounter where 2 guys brought a hobie kayak down to Trail 1 and paddled out past where I was surfing and dropped a chum bag and a baited hook. in 5 minutes they had a 7 foot juvenile on the hook. I caught a wave and went left on my backhand. I notice the dudes line is taught as I ducked and barely missed running into a line that had a hooked white shark. I paddled in and watched him land it on the beach. He flipped it on it's back and took his left knee and held the sharks torso while his right hand went into it's mouth with no gloves and he took the hook out. He then turned it around and grabbed it by it's tail and dragged it out about 30 yards. He then rocked it back and forth and then released it. It was crazy to watch and I have the photos to prove it. I called fish and game on them because they chummed the water I was surfing. They came back a few days later and I knew both of their cars because I took photos to give to fish and game. I let the air out of their tires and left a note on their car. It said, " This time I let the air out of your tires. Next time I'll take a baseball bat to your car!" I have sailed on a 52 ft Lagoon from Ft Lauderdale to Newport RI! I am really enjoying watching your lifes adventures on Parlay Revival.

I look at the shark issues in the Bahamas, where just about every anchor, the sharks come rocking up because of people feeding sharks with their catch. There were a lot of attacks this year. It’s not nature to chum sharks. “Conditioned response” is a man-made problem that will affect generations of ocean travelers to come. Not a fan of chumming for tourism. Just my opinion. Well, one thing about being 2-3 miles from where you saw the great whites, is the shark cage boats are chumming, so there are less likely to be sharks where you are diving because you are not chumming. At least one could hope. You are right, sharks don't eat humans because humans taste YUCKY! LMAO! Seriously though, our blood has too much iron in it which makes us smell bad and taste bad to sharks. The problem with the sharks where you are is that they are used to humans and boats and see them as food sources, therefore it could make them more likely to attack humans even if they don't eat them. I would think though, they are probably hanging out over where they get chummed more.
    I don't think it is a good idea to chum sharks for cage diving. Frankly, it isn't a good idea to feed wild animals period. It teaches them bad habits and can make them dependent on humans, and in this case, it could turn really bad, because they are used to humans and boats and are not afraid of them.

    Hi @Colin, Big lover of your channel.
    I'm from South Africa and a dive instructor in Cape Town, so when you do the Cape of Good Hope trip it would be absolutely epic to take you and your team for a dive in the Cape Town kelp forests.
    I was also very conflicted about the shark cage diving industry but after chatting to many experts in the industry and the studies done it is refreshing to know the sharks don't associate food with people and the boats. In Gansbaai, we have many studies done revealing that its always new sharks that come past and not the same sharks over and over.
    Cape Town is well known for Port and Starboard (two Killer whales) I have seen myself in the bay and they love hunting Great white sharks in the area, yet the real killer is always the commercial fishing industries with drag nets. There is no control over how much they take out and collateral damage to other species.
    Would really love to meet you once Parley is in Cape Town so hope you see this comment. You are such an inspiration.

    I dont think its good that they are feeding the sharks. They’re learning a new behavior that boats and people equal food. We see this in the US with those cleaning fish off docks discarding carcasses and this occurs close enough to public beaches. Sharks now present in areas theyve never been. Sharks actually charging in shallow waters close to the shore . People getting bitten. Not good IMO

    I think you should repair it with clear resin so it can be left as a talking point. Or fill it with a colour epoxy and smooth it over leaving the mark. It is now part of Parlay's history which would be great to preserve. Just a suggestion.

    Sharks are beautiful and smart creatures Cage diving is unnatural for them and as you said all the boats were chumming. The sharks were expecting food and competition, still nobody was eaten. all the scares you see on the sharks are from the same activity that was done to parlay, testing. (you don't know until you try) glad you went in the water after this experience and showed us the viewer the biggest thing to fear is fear. Those were very big sharks though ha ha ha

    As for the chumming, I’m definitely not in favour of that. After living in Brisbane, we had too many people taken by great whites, why get them used to people just for entertainment.

    True story. I stumbled into a lecture for meteorologists. The speaker said up to three days forecasts are pretty accurate these days. 4-5 days is a 50/50 proposition. Anything over 5 days is a, "Wild Ass Guess". This was a professional talking to professionals.

    You don’t want to condition sharks to swim with your boat. In the North Atlantic in the Bay of Biscay whales are breaking sailboat rudders. They ram them.

      You also don't want Great Whites to associate humans with food. It the same reason that National Parks tell people "don't feed the bears". It's not because they don't want bears to eat, it's because they don't want bears to associate people with food and they don't want bears to lose their natural instinct to hunt, aka survive in the wild when no people are around to feed them.

    Mixed feelings about the cage boats and white shark tourism. We are separated from all beasts by our ability to think and reason. We advance our civilization through knowledge. The more people that become aware of creatures like the Great White, I think brings about our desire to protect them. When things are localized and we are largely unaware things like seal clubbing, whale fishing, and unrestricted safari hunts go on. On the other side these are God’s creatures and we are given the responsibility to preserve life unless we are threatened so we must be concerned about the welfare of these creatures.

    • @scottmichaels12
      @scottmichaels12 3 месяца назад

      There are definitely more responsible ways to educate people about sharks. You can't really say that Great Whites won't attack people when you are literally feeding them and making them associate people with food. They need to be left alone and allowed to survive the way God intended.
