This is a song I play often for my patients getting ready to leave this life. It hurts so much to play it for them but I honestly feel there isn’t a better song for them to hear. My parents both had beautiful voices and my father was the Choir Director at our Church. They would sing this together at Midnight Mass or my mother would do it solo. Hearing this makes me think of them, beautiful memories.

I have listened to this song all my life. I am 65. This particular version by Celine is one of my favorites, ever since she released this album. I am a Protestant, but spent a lot of time in Baptist Churches that I could walk to or were close to home. I sang this song many times. I never realized it was considered a Catholic song. I had always thought of it as a Christian song. Beautiful no matter what religion it may be connected to.

Right before the moment My mom passed away, I was praying Hail Mary prayer to Mother Maria asking her to let my mom leave in peace. Suddenly my mom looked up with her arms held up wide open. It just looks like she found someone she has been missing for so long. In 2 seconds, she closed her eyes and stopped breathing immediately. Nurse came over and said she has no breath and pluse.
I am sure Mother Maria came to take her to heaven. For those who lost your loved ones, pray to Mother Maria. She will take him/her to heaven as Mother Maria is for real.

She has amazing tone, but she got the vowels all wrong. And she rolled her R’s: “Ave Mrrrri-ya.” This was very grating. And too much fancy ornamentation in the melody lines. I don’t even mind the arrangement from piano to guitar with synth pads. The recording stands on its own, but it has its flaws. Not the best, for me. @deathtrap5556
