They needed a third big coaster and failed to get one for the 8th year in a row. I was really hoping this plot of land would finally be the one…but instead they built a 5th family coaster 😔
This was definitely the perfect fit for them, not only covering the modern family coaster, but the launch coaster area of the park. Not only that, it’s an excellent utilization of the Goliath plot of land. I cannot wait to ride this next year.
this will be an awesome addition for the park! a straddle coaster is great because i imagine most of their guests would have never been on a straddle coaster before this and then they also obviously really needed a launch coaster. there is still a part of me that really wanted something like maxx force but this will still be a very fun addition!
West Coast Racers - ran into permitting issues and had to have its supports redesigned Aquaman - COVID plus redesign of station to accommodate turntable Kid Flash coasters - purchased in December 2022 for a 2023 opening. Obviously they needed to be manufactured. Rookie Racer - picked up a Vekoma in December 2022 from a park that got canceled, took a while to ship its parts and build Georgia Surfer and The Flash - both were purchased mid-2023 from a park that got canceled. 2024 was pushing it for opening. Wrath of Rakshasa and Quantum Accelerator (Bobcat as well) are the first NEW coasters that have gone through the design and planning process since 2019. The others are outliers. I wouldn't stress about their openings being delayed. Both Great America and SFNE have said they're targeting Memorial Day weekend for opening. Construction on Quantum Accelerator starts when the park enters weekend only operation.
Great fit, checks as many boxes as they can with one go. Probably comes in around #5-8 in the park for ride experience depending on your preference (flats included). It was entirely a pipedream because another extreme coaster wasn’t the biggest need, this midrange family launch is, but if they scrapped flashback they could have gone bigger like Hagrids length or Velocicoasters intensity.
Nice to see SF having a renewed relationship with Intamin again ever since we got GA Surfer. CF on the other hand couldn’t even bare to work with them.
When I read "Quantum Accelerator" I was expecting a high thrill ride for whatever reason. 😄 Nevertheless, it looks like a good fit for the park. It's a pretty safe bet for a family coaster.
Initially, I wanted something a bit more thrilling, but I agree that this is a great fit for the park. It really is true that the other 3 family coasters (Gotham City Gauntlet, Pandemonium, and Thunderbolt have putrid capacity. This ride will hopefully take some of the load off of them.
There's actually another intamin straddle coaster, thats not on rcdb. It's an LSM launched version in storage in China. It was originally for chengdu aviation park. There's a few pics if it on coaster force
I'm quite looking forward to this one! Yes, I do wish it had a bit more punch to it (which it still might), but I'm ALWAYS in favor of more motorbike coasters. I just can't get enough of them!
My friends and I haven't been to Six Flags New England since our last year of high school, and one of our friends has never been, so we were looking for a good excuse to go down there for the day since it's two hours away from where we live. Now we have an idea of when to go, because I will definitely want to try this thing out.
This ride will make Crackaxle Canyon look really cool. Look at the supports! I’m really hoping we get two trains, because 16 people per ride is, uh,. Yeah. I’m also hoping they add more scenery because the animation looks empty. But they might pull a wicked cyclone and change the layout just a bit. I’m also hoping we get a good-looking entrance with a pretty cool story behind the ride. Something like Dr. Diabolical Let’s just cross our fingers and hope everything goes smoothly.
If they cam figure out airtime on a straddle coaster that would be amazing. Imagine the possibilities like a dragon flying coaster, or flight of passage in rollercoaster form, using the weightlessness and ejector airtime to add to the feeling of flying while straddling a flying beast
It's a great fit for the park. Looks really solid actually. Maybe lacking compared to the other models out there. All that make use of trenches, light theming and head choppers all over while being low and close to the ground. Enhancing the sense of speed. Seems to add a lot to those coasters. This is a tangle of track, so you got a lot of head choppers. Stays pretty close to the ground and has some tight turns. So it's got that. It sets itself apart with a high point, looks like 40-50 feet. Not a bad investment for them. Just think it could use a good central trench. I always like when they do that. Really needs 3 trains.

As for the merger-new company new slate. If this goes well, combined with the laughing stalk that is TT2 (was supposed to kill any chance of Intamin ever returning to the chain), I think Intamin could become a favourite of the new company.
There is of course the possibility of Six Flags separating Hurricane Harbor From the main park like what they did Six Flags Great America and Magic Mountain
To be honest, I don’t see this being the last Intamin coaster, since this corporation is much bigger, and there are many more parks. I’m not saying they’re adding a coaster every year, but this new company will have to turn to multiple manufacturers even ones the previous Six Flags and Cedar Fair never worked with, like Cedar Fair with Intamin and Six Flags with Gerstlauer. Since there will be a lot more parks, I don’t think this Cedar Fair run conglomerate will be able to turn to their select few to put out even a couple of orders for a few parks.
I wear cargo shorts and don't have much of a problem with stuffing the cargo pockets with my phone and stuff and riding with leg restraints. I just make sure to pull the legs of the shorts down after sitting since they ride up a bit. lol
I have a theory. Six Flags New England will not only add this coaster next year, I will also redeemed the entire Crackaxle Canyon area to Steamtown, much like what Six Flags America did. I can see them removing their Tomahawk (Huss Frisbee) and Rock n Rodeo rides by the end of the year and replacing them with a Zamperla Nebula and Air Race, while retheaming their bumper cars and Houdini to fit the steampunk theme.
I don't think the area is being rebranded, considering the ride's backstory specifically calls out Crackaxle Canyon by name. It could get some new steampunk theming though.

I just want someone to mount a three axis gyroscope to a roller coaster. It would be so fun to be spinning in all planes while taking a drop or a launch.
Where is the big thrill ride this park has been dying for? I'm still waiting for my launched double loop or my launched extended heartline role at 60 mph higher. One thing I think is a cool future is false track. Donkey Kong is going to start that trend but I would love it if layouts tricked you. I would love a ride where you think you're going straight and then you end up actually going straight down and actually back under the track you just came in on. Or a head chopper where you just dip at the last second enough to make it clear for even the tallest person with their hands all the way up. Psychological games, G-Forces, where is the playground for those of us who want a little bit more heart pounding?
