  • Nestled within the winding streets of Ciudad Colonial in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Mosquito Boutique Hotel Zona Colonial captures the essence of the Dominican Republic's rich history while seamlessly blending modern comforts.
The entire building exudes charm and timeless allure, providing a warm welcome and a lovely stay. The hotel is three floors. The first floor is made up of the entry desk, bar/bistro, courtyard/seating, and rooms. The second floor comprises more rooms, an indoor lounge area, and a stunning walkway overlooking the first floor courtyard. The third floor features even more rooms and an outdoor roof-like seating area. The entire hotel is dressed in greenery, with long luscious plants draping and hanging in the courtyard from floors above. The entire building showcases high wooden ceilings, intimate lighting, stunning fixtures, and the most beautiful tile I’ve ever seen.
Each room at Mosquito Boutique Hotel is thoughtfully equipped to ensure a comfortable stay. Smart TVs, mini-fridges, and safes are standard amenities, in the rooms while complimentary high-speed internet access keeps you connected. The Double Rooms, which is what I stayed in, with Queen beds and walk-in bathrooms, strike a balance between relaxation and functionality, offering a cozy retreat after a day of exploration. They also feature a seating area with space for one, plus a desk. At what I’d consider an extremely reasonable price, Double Rooms at Mosquito Boutique Hotel start at $95/night (plus tax).
From historical landmarks to local markets, Zona Colonial's offerings cater to every type of traveler. Mosquito Boutique Hotel has the perfect location amongst it all. Situated on Calle Arzobispo Meriño, Mosquito Boutique Hotel is footsteps away from everything you want to see in Santo Domingo. It’s located extremely close to Parque Colón (Columbus Park) with its many restaurants, Catedral Primada de América de Santo Domingo, Palacio Consistorial de Santo Domingo, and Calle El Conde with its many shops and daily markets. In the other direction down the street lies the Ruins Of San Francisco. Beyond that are Santo Domingo’s historic landmarks and attractions such as Fortaleza Ozama, Panteon Nacional, Plaza de la Hispanidad, Monument to Friar Antonio of Montesino, and the Malecón, all within easy walking distance from the hotel.
Commence your day at Mosquito Boutique Hotel with a complimentary American breakfast that caters to diverse tastes. Breakfast is full-service and takes place daily from 7:00AM - 11:00AM. We enjoyed breakfast in the hotel’s beautiful courtyard. Complimentary breakfast consists of fresh juice, coffee/tea, fresh fruit, and a choice of freshly made traditional breakfast orders. You have the option to upgrade to a breakfast item located on their full menu for a small cost, in which I chose the Huevos Rancheros. It was absolutely delicious, along with the fresh chinola (passion fruit) juice.
The hotel's bistro takes pride in its fusion cuisine, skillfully combining Peruvian and international flavors. The menu is a delightful exploration of culinary innovation, complemented by signature craft cocktails that add an extra layer of sophistication to the dining experience. I truly enjoyed dinner at the Mosquito Boutique Hotel’s Bistro, and it is also the perfect place to enjoy a drink. I ordered a Pisco Sour de Chinola, and it was excellent, along with the mouthwatering Tostada de Lomo a la Parrilla, Ceviche Carretillero, and Sushi Roll Acevichado. The bistro has a lovely environment with great music and outstanding service.
For those arriving by car, like I did, you can opt for street parking for free or choose the paid parking available 24/7 at Parqueo Banco Reservas Garage, located just two blocks away. I parked on the street for the duration of my five-day stay and had no issues.
In conclusion, Mosquito Boutique Hotel stands out as a haven for travelers seeking an authentic experience in Santo Domingo. Its seamless integration of history and modern comforts creates a unique atmosphere that invites guests to savor the best of both worlds. With the best location within Santo Domingo’s Zona Colonial area, Mosquito Boutique Hotel is an all around great and affordable stay, with a walkable location, safe area, beautiful rooms, convenient amenities, charming aesthetic, complimentary breakfast, onsite bar/bistro, and friendly staff. Staying at Mosquito Boutique Hotel was the cherry on top of my travels to Santo Domingo.
