I just get crashes galore, and I mean the actual synth crashes and needs a reset. Such a shame for such an iconic masterpiece.
I've only ever had these problems when I have plugged it into a hub. Apparently the TI likes it's own USB bus so you're best off just running off it's own USB card or something if you're having problems with your other USB ports on you system.
Sadly - really limited ongoing compatibility, and zero production updates, and it's still my favorite synth. It's great alone, but I tend to layer it with a Prophet 12, and the combo is amazing.

@@yamahamotifxs hey thank you so much for you efforts there! :) Like you I'd concluded that these must be from the user memories rather than ROM sounds. I'd managed to find a couple of them but couldn't find the first patch which I particularly liked. Your assistance is greatly appreciated :)
The TI2 is venerable by now (2019). At one time it was the modeller synth to beat, but it getting outpaced in some areas now, and even some VSTs can outclass it in some areas. Diva for example will give it a run. It's still a solid machine due to the versatility it has, but really needs an update to keep up with the new Fantom, etc.
You should not compare a rompler/sampler/VA-workstation with a zillion features with a Virus TI. Copmare apples with apples. The TI series are 'pure' synthesizers that have their own timbre. The whole Access Virus serie are future classics. That simply won't be the case with any VST/Rompler christmas tree...
Bit of a late reply... no offence but regarding virus vs fantom you're talking rubbish I own both i have virus t.i. DarkStar Ltd ed and the new Fantom 7. the Fantom can't do wavetable or Graintable synthesis to name a couple... and the virus t.i. has a massive mod matrix.. currently the Fantom is still a work in progress with a hell of a lot that needs to be added. all Fantom uses are hoping for a massive update by the time Namm show on the 16th of Jan.. and regarding soft synths I'm not a fan vst!! And from what I remember no soft synth can offer what the virus offers on its own one versus the other the virus covers so much synthesis and modulation possibilities it would leave your computer in a non-functional near crash sweat.. if you tried with a VST on the computer to push the same processing power that the virus uses pushing virus to it's limit with one patch.. that's why synths like the virus come as hardware! with their own powerful processors. Dedicated computer in a box! Rather than software version on your desktop/ laptop trying to be jack of all
@@sK3LeTvM1 dude the fantom workstation is on another level, that thing sits in a class of his own its way ahead of the game vs any synth and with big updates that should come available soon it's going to get even more amazing... you should check the spec! you sound like a proper idiot referring to it as a rompler Christmas tree!
@@johnbaker9539 Late myself lol. I have a Peak and a Virus Ti2, currently being driven by an FA07 (with an RD2000 on the bottom) and am seriously thinking of replacing the FA with a Fantom 7. Ti is better for 80s and 90s stuff. Peak has a GREAT filter but sounds more modern really. Hoping Fantom will provide traditional 80s sounds (that dont need stupid mod control) with its modelled and analogue filters while Ti2 does the heavy mod stuff. Peak has its own thing going on that Ti2 (and fantom) cant do too of course but its a smaller niche.
@@johnbaker9539 Dont agree. The synth section on the Fantom is GREAT as are the filters - BUT it doesnt have the sound design capabilities of Ti2 because (as always) Rolands have a terrible Mod Matrix. Fantom is better (at least you can use the envelopes and LFOs are sources and destinations) but not a patch on Ti2, or Peak, or DSI stuff. As always no synth does it all.
Wish that they would update the hardware and design. Virus is very old now and no recent improvements for the high price tag. Still a great synth but my software VST can do more. Also no ability to play multi-tracks like is possible on the Elektron Analog 4.
It's such a remarkable sounding synthesizer, which just adds to the question as to why Virus never built on this technology? They just stopped producing new synthesizers. Unfortunate, but at least these are still available.
I feel theres not lot more to add feature wise. Love mine. Not any synth does anything, but not many synth does all what virus does. Well integra7 does 'anything' . 6 stereo outs simultaneously to daw via usb and analog outs, should get u far, also wavetable stuff it does is unique, and sounds cool. Higher polyphony and more outputs would be nice but you can mix in the synth quite well and use it as signal processor and what not. Desktop unit is alot of synth for the space and keybed is great if you can go that route. 1 synth for me it would be that, and that makes me really curious how the dsp chip being discontinued will do for virus future. Hope there wont be time when there is no virus.
Not bad, but ALL of these hardware synthesizers, EVERYTHING they try to do, has now been EXTREMELY superseded by software synthesizers. The most advanced {software} synthesizers I have seen are those made by the legendary Rob Papen. They can do FARRR MORE of what we see being attempted by the Virus Ti2 here.
IMHO, probably since the Virus guys are now more interested in guitar gear (Kemper profile and all that stuff) the Virus synths have gained a truly hyped status. But if you close your eyes and listen to it, it sounds quite digital, VST-ish, with no analog warmth whatsoever. Nothing wrong with that. If you want that sound, but there're loads of similar sounding stuff, with the same digital sonic signature all over. I'm not talking here about the posibilities of the synth, just for the SOUND. and the SOUND is not worth the hype at all.
Analog warmth? You can stick to you max 8 useless notes of analog overhyped warmth and I would go for the virus over any other synth. Sadly this guy is useless at showing off the capabilities of this synth, not quite sure why Anderson’s still employ him. I’ve owned many synths over the years but this is one I regret selling.
I would use my Virus rather then something easy and good sounding then Serum. It sounds a bit digital, but not in a bad way. Having the right pre-amp or VST stuff like Universal Audio makes it shine 100%.
To be fair, apart from snowfall, these presets didn't do it justice at all. They did all sound harsh and digital, but that doesn't have to be the case. The Virus can sound as warm, fuzzy and wonky as any analogue synth - you just have to know how to use it.
Wald Geist ....and when was this? And what were they playing? Or, do you simply not like this video? Or maybe you’re implying that someone should spend hours working out a performance that highlights the aspects of synth that are relevant to you, in a way that satisfies you as well? Tall order. It’s fine not to like the video but your criticism is empty.
They keys on a fisher price are better then the TI2 and The vst is so glitchy you can't use it... It's a shame that Kemper doesn't plan on coming out with a TI3

Like you I'd concluded that these must be from the user memories rather than ROM sounds. I'd managed to find a couple of them but couldn't find the first patch which I particularly liked. Your assistance is greatly appreciated :)
I really like the hypernotch patch it's really a cool sound 😎
Peak has its own thing going on that Ti2 (and fantom) cant do too of course but
its a smaller niche.
Who makes that acoustic treatment pattern?
Forgive my ignorance, but what's up with asking for a key to play in?
@9:00 Love it ... unexpected spike in funk level made me laugh
Demo song did not disappoint
Sadly it's discontinued...
Planning to switch to a nord lead a1 as the closest alternative...
Wish that they would update the hardware and design. Virus is very old now and no recent improvements for the high price tag. Still a great synth but my software VST can do more. Also no ability to play multi-tracks like is possible on the Elektron Analog 4.
What do you mean by multi-track? Is it not possible to play individual parts by external MIDI?
Not true, it's multi-timbral, you can play up to 16 patches at once. It just doesn't have a built in sequencer
Is the OS the same for the TI and TI2, just faster processors/more mem?
Totally identical with only 25% more DSP and more polyphony.
Sold mine when I was skint once and I'm quite sad about that
The novation supernova has demo songs too lol
Need an updated virus with better dsp over usb
👌🏻👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎹
that effect is already brought by the virus or you created it 9:20
The only synth better than that, is the Whiteout addition, mine’s number 5/150 😉 And my be for sale, I’m in Australia. Offers?
Dont sell it. You'll regret it.
don't sell it
Yeh what he said I have the other whiteout never selling it 0nly 150 of these babies.
How much?
I bought this synth from Andertons during lockdown. Virus for the virus. Thing is, the synth is real and I would never, ever sell her.
Why did I sell my Access Virus C!!!!
Same!
Cause this sounds like a vst?
I don’t recommend buying something from a company that abandons it software. It’s also though it’s the only product they make
haha gabber patch
the only thing i don't like about the TI2's is they don't have a dedicated power button/switch.
No, they stopped a design for a new one because of the Kemper Profiler.
@@jaydeeverhoeven2729 Another virus ti?
Quero 😻😏
Valletta is the capital of Malta.
I think this guy loves himself more than the instrument he is demonstrating 😴😴
I can assure you we are trying, Yes Jack, very trying.
This demo's about 1% of the Virus's capabilities. It's basically a hardware VST - can do anything Papen can
True or not…I’m pretty sure whoever wrote this was high as a kite
IMHO, probably since the Virus guys are now more interested in guitar gear (Kemper profile and all that stuff) the Virus synths have gained a truly hyped status. But if you close your eyes and listen to it, it sounds quite digital, VST-ish, with no analog warmth whatsoever. Nothing wrong with that. If you want that sound, but there're loads of similar sounding stuff, with the same digital sonic signature all over. I'm not talking here about the posibilities of the synth, just for the SOUND. and the SOUND is not worth the hype at all.
yeah if you dont know how to program this synth aint for you
Analog warmth? You can stick to you max 8 useless notes of analog overhyped warmth and I would go for the virus over any other synth. Sadly this guy is useless at showing off the capabilities of this synth, not quite sure why Anderson’s still employ him. I’ve owned many synths over the years but this is one I regret selling.
I would use my Virus rather then something easy and good sounding then Serum. It sounds a bit digital, but not in a bad way. Having the right pre-amp or VST stuff like Universal Audio makes it shine 100%.
@@pacomacman I know the feeling. I'm on my third Virus TI2 as I regretted selling them almost instantly. This one is a keeper.
To be fair, apart from snowfall, these presets didn't do it justice at all. They did all sound harsh and digital, but that doesn't have to be the case. The Virus can sound as warm, fuzzy and wonky as any analogue synth - you just have to know how to use it.
I think the B has the best demo btw one of the older ones ... the TIs (I have owned both) arent anywhere near as funky.
Too bad the TI part doesn't work for Mac users anymore and never will again
Try Mystery Island's Virus Editor & Librarian, now has support for USB too, M1 Mac Native etc. Pretty much everything you want.
Cool video, sound isn't of my taste but it's interesting.
Great instrument, but not the most inspired playing
I miss the old days when people reviewing instruments actually could PLAY them ...
Trying too hard.
The preset is the worst invention of all time
They keys on a fisher price are better then the TI2 and The vst is so glitchy you can't use it... It's a shame that Kemper doesn't plan on coming out with a TI3
