I worked at a piano, guitar, and band instrument shop in high-school, and this gentleman reminds me of all the nice piano sales men who were my colleagues back in the day - suite and all.
@mshhoward I would appreciate truth like telling who this is meant for instead of saying "it is perfect for anyone" when it clearly is not. It is not for gigging musician, or someone with limited space, or limited budget. My DGX670, which you can get for 800£ also has cfx VRM, so I don't get why it is so hyped here like it is something special that this one has.
It’s marketed as a great ‘piano’ so the salesman starts with a “boom-tish” auto accomp. 🙄 Well done Jack for doing your best to look interested. Now a serious point: please Yamaha, put this action into the replacement for the CP88 which is long overdue.
@@strongchord4384 The CP88/YC88 action is far superior to whats on this, played them in store last sunday, CP88/YC88 Still the best action on a keyboard to this day
This video was so good that they're all already out of stock 😂 I'm not sure about the complaints in the comments, as a buyer this struck all the right notes (groan) especially the whole thing about holding down keys silently and getting the resonance. That's the sort of thing I'm looking for that my Nord just doesn't do.
This man is a great representative for Yamaha! What a top bloke. But one can still hear that it's a digital piano. Why? No matter how good the technology is, it's still just based on sampling and not modeling. So there's only so much you can do.
Looks pretty cool, but if Im spending this sort of money, Im getting a used Yamaha U3 any day of the week. Speakers are just never the same. Also its a bit over the top with the sales pitch.
It sounds great! I wish that I can get this level of sound in a stage piano. I believe that Yamaha can do this. Have you all noticed that every 5+ years that the piano sounds in digital stage pianos gets better by only small increments? A little better...a little better... well they have to make some more money. I have been trying to decide on which dp to get but I am disappointed by the lack of warmth and dynamic range of the sounds in them. While I like the CP and YC boards, I am still not impressed by the dynamic range of the piano sounds.
I have the clp 625 and I don't see any improvements other than Bluetooth. Yamaha should add more features rather than largely re-release the same thing and trying to make it appear different. CFX, Bosendorfer imperial piano samples, binaural sampling, string and damper resonance, graded hammer action with synthetic ebony and ivory key tops and the other features mention all exists on the 625 model.
I've played the model with the lesser tier action, the GrandTouch S. It sounds like marketing exaggeration, but they really did get the weight perfect. There was a C7X right next to it, and the weight was spot on. Unfortunately, I didn't like the overall feel of it for other reasons--it felt...weak? Unstable? Not in a way that it was going to fall apart, but it felt like I was pressing a crumpled paper ball everytime. But the sheer touch weight was perfect.
got the chance to play the acoustic CFX the other day. lovely but I guess I'll stick with the CFX Grand preset... I am not even worthy of the real one :)
First of all too expensive. Second of all after thinking that a digital piano would last longer and cost less due to no tuning I had to discover that the rubber contact points where the keys hit the electronic plates inside deteriorate relatively quickly and it is expensive to replace and quite an elaborate task to replace them
Wow, what a great video in every way! I've actually been fortunate enough to try this piano out and the actual feel of both the sound and action is absolutely stunningly great. Awesome to get the insider expert tech view of the greatness!
Ok and imma let you finish but this is literally a FALSE grand piano experience!! Duh! (I actually like Yamaha digital pianos, got one upstairs, but I'm not trying to tell anyone it's a "true grand piano" experience)
I’m a bit confused about whether to buy the Yamaha P-145 or P-225. I love Yamaha’s sound, but when it comes to key action, some professionals recommend the Roland FP-30X. Andertons’ keyboard channel has never given much importance to key action in any of their videos
Why isn’t there an advert/sponsored logo or something at the beginning of this video, because this is just a very long advert, what an absolute waste of time. I really enjoy your videos generally and they, on the whole, feel very honest but this was a waste of time to hear a Yamaha salesperson speak nonsense for 35 minutes
Better tell me about how terrible the design of the keys is in this instrument, and how long it will last. ruclips.net/user/shortsgjWw_7IH2vI?si=S8GxJDBIJS50PQgX
The sound of this piano was not good. It’s very synthesised sounding. I have the Kawai CA 79 and it sounds a whole lot better, more natural, than this, for roughly the same price.
@ the speakers sound great at home. Everyone is amazed at the sound and presence. No reliability issues at all so far, some three years later. Feels solid like it will last a lot longer.
Does it have a slight detune button? Slowly randomly detune over a few weeks. Until I press reset for good tuning. (option yamaha tuning and other options).
Salesman energy cranked up to 11

Paul used to be the Korg Rep when I worked at Gear4Music - he was always a joy to see and immensely funny!!
Get Mike Patrick on it
"We have replicated the touch of a acoustic perfectly" "action is perfect". Maybe a bit too much exaggeration going on in this video 😅
Right...compared to Jack's typical honest reactions, the Yamaha guy was a bit much. Definitely a salesman ha.

I played this the other day. It's my next home piano!!! 100%
I haven't even watched it yet, but I'm excited! Thanks for covering a wide array of instruments!
The piano sounds amazing but it’s like being sold on QVC, Jack your the man to demo it.
Oooooo Mike Patrick!!!!!! Where are you!!!???
I’m really impressed with the latest Clavinovas. Great video.
wow what a machine. sounds absolutely stunning
I love when Yamaha comes to the shop! ❤
Which sound do we hear in this video? The binaural sound from the headphone-jack or did you use the speaker outputs? 😊
Speaker outputs!👍👍

Samples are small. That's why it sounds digital. Yamaha really needs to step up. It's sounds thin and cheap compared to MODX.

I have to look away after finding out the price of this thing.

Top sounds too plinky and disjointed from the lower part. Top is too produced and effect laden.
