I’m making a living by providing high end and large property residential snow clearing here in Wisconsin. In my 20th year of service, I run a 1 ton dual axle baby dump, 2 well maintained 3/4 ton HD trucks and several large 28”-30” snow blowers. This video reinforces to me why I’ll never take the cheap or short cuts in the winter services field. 10 years ago we had a 12” heavy snow fall overnight and 3 of our 5 trucks went down. We called in some help and they dispatched 5 trucks to help out. The amount of snow in this video is no joke. I hope you came out of it in one piece. Good luck in the future. Peace
Sounds like a good setup! This is my 2st year plowing for customers. My main income comes from spring to summer with my soft wash business, also seen on my channel. Snow is a small portion during the cold months. Definitely not for everyone. I did not expect the income its generating and am excited to see what next season brings...if I survive this one!
I love the snow from a distance, but it's definitely beautiful country.
It really is!
Quite the challenge with that amount of snow, but I am happy to say that you met and conquered it with a lot of work and effort. Stay safe and all the best!
Thank you!
Great job stopping at that stop sign.
I only do it if theres no cars in either direction, which there wasnt because there was over 18" snow on the roads. Better to just keep rolling if you can then to get up to speed from a stop. Thanks for watching!
@@YoungAmbitionYA no, it’s better to stop or at least slow to a near stop. You have your fire department’s plate in your window... way to represent.
I don't know how long you have been plowing, but if you did my driveway like that it would be the last time!!
Are you referring to the one where I hit the curb? 😂
Looks like you were playing find the driveway. Nice work man 👍
Unfortunately lol! It wasnt a client of mine so I had no markings. Got flagged down for a cash push
What were you charging to clear a driveway? Im in Tulsa Oklahoma and i was thinking about getting my 15 year old son a self propelled snowblower so he could make some money this winter, but I have no idea what customers will pay or what is a decent price.
Hey Adam! Greatest thing you could do for him! I get anywhere from $475 to 675 for a season for your average driveways. 15 storms that's about $30-45/storm. Some guys get 60/storm but invoice all their clients after every storm. I hate the headache of billing so I discount my rate but get paid by everyone in full before the 1st snow.
@@YoungAmbitionYA thanks for the info brother.
Where are you plowing ? Lots of snow. Thanks
Hi Tom. I plow commercial and residential accounts in Lake George, NY. Check out some of my recent plow vids! More to come this winter!
I used to live up there and was a member of a neighboring fire dept. I miss the amount of snow we’d get there. I’m an hour south and you wouldn’t believe the difference in snowfall totals
I used to live in Guilderland. You're right, plenty more snow up here! What FD? I'm with LGFD
@@YoungAmbitionYA yea I saw the LG plate and then immediately recognized the whole area lol. I was with Bay Ridge. I moved back to my hometown south of Albany about 13 years ago. I do miss it up there
That has to be hell on the truck!
It handles it pretty well. Definitely need a 250 or better. No doubt it takes years off the truck every time the blade drops 😰
are you plowing on the stock tires, or maybe knobby mud tires? you seemed to be spinning a lot in areas you should not have been. maybe it was icy, or maybe look for triple mountain peak/ snow rated tires. made a world of difference for me.
They are snow rated tires. Was a wet storm. Anything you drove on became slick.
Anyone notice at 18:15, the sound of a diesel sufficiently sped up sounds like the old V10 F1 cars?
Couldn't help but notice your in my area, I'll have to keep my eye out for ya on the next storm!
thanks for watching neighbor! Im all over all year round! youre bound to see me!
@@YoungAmbitionYA My snowblower broke during this storm, needed a drink after finishing off the driveway. Thank God Montys is open till midnight!
How many times can you hit the same curb?
1000
That's quite the snow fall. Do you use those everblade heated wipers when plowing?
Whats going on Ben - thanks for the comment! I dont use them but i want to get some. My wipers were useless for the entire storm! Sub and stay tuned for more plowing and salting vids this winter!
Thats a ton of snow
Do your rates increase in stages according to the amount of snow?
i have a monthly surcharge for excessive snow. my rates are otherwise seasonal and paid upfront
Did you bury that sidewalk? I'm not one to usually comment but man that was very hard to watch.. but enough time you'll learn! Be safe out there!
What's up Cody. Yes I did bury it lol. The town's come through with blowers for the sidewalks and curbs. There was 3 feet of snow in one storm so you basically just put it where you can
Nice video. I have an extremely tight route, so I can use a tractor. Pretty sure I would not do well with that amount of snow in my truck.
tractor during this storm would have been incredible!
im a one man band and have a tractor as my main, and my 1 ton/plow as backup. it's a huge load off when you fear no storm. but yes, a $35 hydraulic line will still bring me to a screeching halt haha.
Definitely have your customers mark their driveways or you mark them with plow markers and charge them
All 28 of my accounts were marked pre season. The one with the curb wasnt my account. I got flagged down and paid cash because their $1800 snow blower wouldn't start
You're in Queensbury.
Yes sir
is there a reason you dont plow with the storm ?
I tried initially and usually do. We were only forecasted for 8 inches or so. The storm shifted north away from NYC (this was a tropical storm off the coast that was supposed to dump all this snow in NYC) and it all came towards us. I went out early but couldn't see and there was a foot or better on the roads. DOT wasnt plowing. Every plow truck in the storm area was dispatched to fire, ems and police calls because no one could get anywhere! It was an absolute mess. I couldn't get to my accounts until 12 hours after the storm!
Like your strobes👍
thanks!
Brings back memories off plowing 24 hrs straight in loader that had a heater that would bring temp.up to 32😂
what tires are you running?
Wild peak AT3s. absolutely incredible. peep my channel for my one account up the steep hill. these tires never missed a beat in some of the worst conditions
The first 3 seconds where you crush that curb.. ouch
Yes! It hurt me inside. That's what happens when you try to be nice. This house wasnt an account of mine. The guy flagged me down and said his $1800 blower wouldn't start! I gave him a couple pushes to help out, luckily the curb didnt cause any damage
That curb could have messed up your whole day. Lol I know that feeling thou. When you hit an obstruction and it doesn’t trip an you feel your soul leave your body
@@stevensilva1350 Don't they give you a bag of spare pins when you get a plow? Seems like a 90 second fix?
Thanks for the video. You ever think about telling everybody why your pushing the snow that way instead of over there type of video? Just trying to help with content. Thanks again and keep it up.
Hey thanks for the suggestion! I will do that
Is plowing very profitable mate?
It certainly can be. Charge right and keep a tight route!
Did you just blast right through that stop sign in the beginning ?
Sure did. Looks worse than it is. I had full 180 view left and right and there was no one in sight. Over 18 inches in the road so it was easier to keep rolling then try to go from a stop.
Totally get it. Had to bust your chops though. Keep up the good work.
Where is this?
@@ThomasSmith-fz6wq upstate NY
If u didn't have wide tires it would plowalit better
What's up Tim. My tires, even though slightly wider than a dedicated snow tire (mines 10.5 wide), plow incredibly well. I plow a 1800ft uphill drive and can easily back up unplowed ground, on incline, from a dead stop. The problem here is that we had over 3ft on the ground before I could plow, so the truck just bogged down 👍
That plow seems tiny. How wide is it?
its just the camera angle along with the drop bracket because my truck is lifted. its a Fisher XV2 8'6 Stainless. thanks for watching!
Why are you shutting the truck off every time u get out probably not the greatest thing in the world to do to a diesel over and over. Tough plowing big storms we plow with the storm in ones like this or else u get over run great job
This storm was tough. 3.5ft in 12hrs. My route in a normal storm is about 6.5hrs. During this storm it was on and off for 3 days - DOT couldnt keep up with the roads so i could only plow in areas that were cleaned up by DOT. during the video where you see me shut off the truck its because its been working in 4x4 for hours on end and the snow was wet and at times clogging the air flow into cool the engine. when I got out to shovel at times i would just shut it off and let it rest and cool. Weve had 12 storms this winter and only that 1 gave me trouble!
It just looks like you could use some more practice! Good luck
It was my first storm. Check out some of my new plow vids!
I get its deep stuff but man you plow slow dude...alot of wasted pushes, seem really unsure of how to even operate the plow
It was my first storm ever. 33". Feel free to see some more recent stuff. I plow accounts most would be scared of.. you too lol
@@YoungAmbitionYA oh shit man well trial by fire, youtube recommended it,I didnt see the date, wasn't hating just very noticeable, will check you out man,you still plowing with the same rig ?
Jesus Christ is it painful to watch your shit. I've seen molasses move faster. Quit turning your truck off every time you get out of it. One of these times you're going to get back in and it won't start. My employees aren't allowed to turn their trucks off until they're completely done with the storm.
Jesus Christ it was painful to read this comment. Smol pp energy.
You obviously haven't a clue how to manage snow
This was my very first storm plowing. 33 inches in 24 hours. Was quite the lesson. Everything was easy after this 😂
