I plowed snow working for a local school district in the maintenance dept. for 35 years, and by far my favorite thing to plow was slush. You could really send it with enough speed.
The runway plows atvOhare field are so big the y block a third of the windshield, the lead plow starts, and others run looking at his rear tire @60 mph, you can't even see where your going, except the back tire of the plow in front of you, and thats out the side window, it's a sight.🇺🇸
Oh my! Give these poor plowers better equipment! Sad to see what kinda horrible equipment they have to work with. And also they are going way to fast on the highway to get a acceptable result! Here in Norway I'm not allowed to exceed 40km per hour while plowing! But great video :)
@@ryans413 we get called in before a snow storm hits... 16 hour overtime shifts.. and we aren’t on call all the time our overtime list shifts so if someone has ten hours in we’d pull in a guy who hasn’t got a lot of overtime or none so we are always exchanging..
I work for Public Works in Davenport Iowa...it all depends. Sometimes it can be ok, but you are always on call during the winter and it interferes with a lot of weekends. It sucks when you are on call and there is a very small chance of snowing but you still cant make plans and then it ends up not even snowing.
Why do people follow so close behind plow trucks? Never mind the safety and distraction issue, think about what salt and especially brine [24% salt, where sea water is about 1% salt concentration) is doing to your underbody, steel or aluminum wheels, and paint job? Do it for your car! Try not to pass, and if you absolutely MUST pass, stay out of the spray!
I get doing main roads first but my city never dose residential roads. Like it snowed so bad where I live once like a foot of snow and not even my 4X4 truck could get down my street too much dam snow. Everyone on my street came out with there shovels and we kinda made a lane in the middle of the road to drive down. City didn’t plow it at all. Kinda useless to plow a main road and not touch side roads when no one can get through to the main roads
your plows are not flowering to the pavement your plows are plowing on the corners 3 inches from end it's leaving the snow in the middle untouched you need more downforce on the snow. looks like a lot of snow left on the ground as the pow wows pass
The front and wing plows use gravity, which is usually sufficient. However, there are times when it's snowing for a while near freezing and mostly slush. That slush finally and suddenly freezes and now there is a thick layer of snow. NYS DOT has plows with mid body mount blades in addition to front and wing plows that uses the weight of the truck and salt to remove the snow.
Yes because if you have the blade flush and you hit a manhole or the edge of the blade clips something it can stop your truck instantly... causing harm to the operator and the equipment.. we run 1-3 inches off the ground with our front plows because they’re static don’t have hydraulics like our belly plows the belly plows float front blade does not so..
For plow trucks, they have road guidance systems in their trucks that help them to follow the path of the unplowed road and others just follow the White poles along the edge of the highway, the white florescent poles are designed to keep people on the road when visibility is not good.
Don’t know where you guys are at but in the state of Pennsylvania the plow trucks do not have any guidance system in them, the only thing guiding those plow trucks is the skill of the operator..
Snow plow drivers have to have nerves of steel.god bless em
Lol how
Great video, and thanks for nor ruining it with music/narration.
It’s very satisfying to watch from inside the truck!

Although some people find it annoying, it's better to be stuck behind a plow
What about stuck in front of it
@@greer8288well then you're not stuck
Who else found themselves oddly entertained by this video? guilty
Couldn't stop watching! Lol!
neworder18 hahaha me
Is it odd that I love the sound of plow trucks at work 😆 🤣
Yes, after 36 hours and you go home and try to sleep, You can't get the sound out of your head.
When we comtracted to the CT DOT we use to bring up the last lane as we were running tri-axles. It was fun.. but a lot of hours.
If you like this then you'll love the Snow Plow Show podcast.
Great video, Thanks for posting!
I drive a truck with a plow and a wing on the right side. Didn't see any winged plows in this vid. Good job folks.
Hello folks, look at all that teamwork them snow plow drivers.
Gotta love slushin like that guy on the bridge. Puts out a nice wave...mailboxes don't like it too much though.
I really like this video!!!!!🖤🖤🖤💛💛💙💙💜💜💚💚❤❤☺☺😁😁😉😉😉
The first video the roads looked better before the plow trucks came through

Nice video bro
Cold day in after getting snow dumped on us near Chicago...and I watch old plow videos for fun.

Very Good Videos 👍 😎 ✌
Love me some snow!!
Lot of people not giving them room behind. They can't see you if you are right on their bumper.
Never crowd the plows
Folks, just look at all that iron, underneath that bridge. That is a lot of darn money
That would be a cool job
Joash Bowles It would but you be on call the whole time gotta go when it snow early morning late nights. They gotta be plowing before rush hour hits.

Ryan Scherbluk - Are you in an HOA neighborhood ?
Dang that sucks. I plow for my city and we have to do residentials when it gets around 2 inches generally
I seen some wvdot plows.
I do this for a living. One thing for the public, please quit riding on my trucks rear.
Hawkeye: 👁️👄👁️
When?
Doesn't snows in here, depression certified
Are BLUE FLASHING LIGHTS on plows not required in these 5 states.......none of them have any...........
Terry Jackson
I know blue is not legal in Pa. Amber only.
Adam83 only law enforcement and fire occasionally are allowed to have blue lights
Utah is only allowed amber and white
It's so much entertaining
Woww pl upload more videos
Talk about the pot holes these plows are making.
Yeah and the same people fix them
Plows don’t make pot holes, water and freezing temperatures make them.
@@tomjack9632 yeah and salt and chloride just speeds it along lol

They might be set to float which yes can leave some snow but saves the blades a lot which in turn saves a lot of money

@@josephbennett3482 not even close lol I appreciate that thought though but plow trucks don’t have that level of tech yet
