I know it's boring to most people, but you guys usually leave out my favorite part. watching and listening to a blizzard in the middle of the night. oddly peaceful.
Truck mechanic here! I've seen a lot of these Webasto heathers fail because of the glow plug getting too much smut on it and then they can't ignite the fuel anymore. Try to change the plug and give it a deep clean. In many cases this will fix the problem. But before doing this, check that the heather receives fuel and air, check the fuel pump that it's ticking when activated, the fuel line isn't clogged and the airways are free. Thanks for taking us with you on your adventures Tim and stay save!
@@bestishiphop Normally there should be no risk of co/co2 poisoning as long as the heater and the exhaust pipe is installed and routed correctly and has no cracks in it. The flame will starve after a short while when the exhaust is blocked because there is not enough oxygen to burn in the heater. Also if the exhaust is blocked with snow, it will either not start at all, melt the snow after a short while or smoke like a steam train. It should be quickly obvious if something isn't right. If your heater is installed in the inside of your sleeping area it surely doesn't hurt to get a co detector just to be safe.
I remember a blizzard here in northern Michigan in 78. I had a baby and my husband couldn't make it home. We lived in the woods. I walked out my door to fix a problem, turned around, and couldn't see my house. Went back inside and tied myself with a rope to my house before venturing out again. The next week the blizzard of 78 hit and luckily my husband was home. We were snowed in for five days and my baby took her first steps during that time. What wonderful memories.
Your story brought me back to a memory of that blizzard. I was a young pre-teen returning with my father from one of my many hockey games when that blizzard hit. We lived 50 miles south of Detroit in a house on a old farming road in South Rockwood. There were a few farm houses but open fields on the road we built one of the first modern brick houses on back then. We were about a mile from home coming back from my game and ended up stuck in one of the many snow drifts we were trying to plow through to get home. We both had to walk about a mile that night in that blizzard after unsuccessfully trying to dig out. Me still wearing my hockey equipment and my father with an Inadequate coat. We both barely made it home on the verge of frostbite. My father is long passed now, but strangely enough, that is one of my strongest fond memories of my youth, that blizzard and that walk home in it. Maybe because we endured it or in some strange way it was exciting for a young boy! Good thing it was the fad of the 70’s and I had long hair back then that covered my ears.
Tim ,I drove a truck for 45 years in winter weather and I always carried a couple gallons of house hold bleach like cloxox. If you pour the bleach on your tires it will improve your traction. The bleach makes your tires really sticky and I've been able to drive on some pretty slick snow in roads when other trucks couldn't even get moving. Just an idea from an old retired trucker. Definitely not for the faint of heart. Phew!!! I always wondered why my Dad would pack his tool chest, crow bar, a short saw, wooden matches and a shovel in the truck even for day trips in California. I asked him why one day and. he said, "you never know." That shovel and crowbar came in handy when he got a tire stuck in the mud. The winch he installed the first year he got his truck has helped out other people more on day trips (including us) than we can count. In Alaska, being prepared is a way of life. Thank you, Timmy for taking us along on your adventures. ❤❤

Idea for the truck house to improve your door situation. Maybe installing a grate in front of the door would allow the snow to pass through instead of pile up. Something with serrated ridges to double as a boot scraper like a door Matt.

Tim, if your oven has "broil" capability or setting, you can broil your steak(s) in the oven. It's the easy way to cook meat indoors, that tastes pretty close to grilled steak, only "grilled"/broiled indoors, in a pinch, or if not possible or able to grill outdoors. Place foil under the oven rack to catch drippings, placing the meat/steak directly on the oven rack to act as a grill (spray with Pam or, lightly oil the rack so meat doesn't stick to it. Cook like you would on a grill. OR, if you can find one in a thrift store, buy a broiling pan. Most stoves come with a broiling pan. It's like a large baking pan but only about an inch deep, with a slotted top that fits into the top of the pan. Place a 1/4 cup of water in the pan, to prevent meat from drying out in the oven, oil the slotted top and "grill" your meat on the slotted top. Cooking on the "BROIL" setting/temperature.
Timmy, I used to live a similar life (minus the badass truck). Guided rafts on the Ark, drummed in a jam band, kayaked and MTB all over and it was the best time of my life. Now I have 2 kids and a mortgage and I wouldn’t change a thing but watching your vids really takes me back and inspires me to pass the adventure torch off to my children and restokes the fire. Thank you sir. You are doing a great service here! 👊🏼
The only thing that would make a hell of a difference about your truck would be to be able to go into the house through the rear of the car and avoid having to go outside everytime.
Awesome video as always Timmy. That was some crazy snow drift. And the snow plow drive was such an awesome dude. Thanks for letting us ride along with you on your adventures.
Yes, I agree. Shoveling 4 feet of snow, while wearing just a T-shirt and coveralls? Oh no--if I shoveled only one foot of snow, my balls would fall off...
Timmy is not gonna do that, he’s not some bushkraft expert. He’s not use dry spruce or oils and such. He’s a glamper type of guy. Hence the hand held gas torch he uses to start fires in his camper and when he’s outside. Don’t expect him to rub sticks together, he’s just not that dude.
I live in Florida and it get's hot here sometimes but every time I watch you dig out of snow or avoid touching metal because it's so cold or keep your truck running day after day because it's so cold...I just thank God that I live in Florida. We may have hurricanes and heat and alligators but no snow. God love you, Tim!
OK Tim. As a 52 YOA cop whose been wearing a blue uniform and spending my time in SERVICE, mad respect for the coffee and donuts. (Krispy Creme added points). You are a legend. Keep it up kid!! Godspeed Tim, proud of ya.

Ive never seen anyone cook a steak in a blizzard! That was wildly awesome brother! Thank you for another episode! I look forward to your videos as they've brought me alot of happiness during a time in my life that i wasn't doing so well! I truly appreciate you! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I just found the video of the trip that ended at Atigun pass this week. I lost hours watching these. I was in the Army for 6 whole months when we were sent to Fairbanks in Feb of 79 for an annual exercise, Jack Frost. I remember being told it was -35 to -50 (wind chill from a Huey is what?) using gear from the 1950's it was a harsh 9 day outing. We had guys who had never seen snow before. Later in life gear got so good I started week long snowshoe trips every winter. It is an awesome feeling to be comfortable in the coldest weather
The blizzard of 78’ hit Rhode Island also and we were buried in snow. It took me four days to shovel our driveway for when my dad could come home from work. It came so fast too. My mom and I were at Ames department store (long gone now but some of you might remember it) When we got to the checkout it was snowing so hard we could hardly see the parking lot. We left our things there and went to pick my sister up from school and hunker down at home. My dad was chief engineer at Rhode Island Hospital and they were having problems with the heat so he had to stay. By the time it was fixed he couldn’t leave cuz the 195 east and west bridge was so deep and cars were buried. He slept in his office four or five days and we were stuck at home with no electricity. I was 16 and my sister was 5. We had a kerosene heater and had to camp out in the livingroom. We didn’t have a hand can opener so had to eat whatever didn’t come from a can. I’ll never forget that storm and shoveling for four days. We lived in a residential area so were the last neighborhoods to be plowed. It was tough but fun also for my friends and I. We tramped down a path down the middle of the street to each others houses. Tim I think it’s funny Alaska is still getting blizards and in R.I. the trees are budding and some flowers are blooming. Btw ribeye steak is my fave and crispy cream glazed doughnuts are awesome.

Timmy, you have a pretty natural voice when you play the guitar or uke, you have some great attributes as a human being 🙂
Timmy: i don't eat many sweets
Also timmy: cinnamon rolls and every other episdoe bakes a dozen cookies😂
LOL exactly my thoughts but he burns enough calories on the road so… CookiesAreBest
@@NekaO-cg5qy for sure
Hahaha... made me laugh (your comment) that's what I thought too....And then I see myself in Timmy's comment about not eating much sweet stuff!! (when I have a gigantic tin full of goodies, and say they are there for a rainy day!!) 😂 As if. Haha 🤣
Best wishes to you. 😂🙋😀
Why did he make cinnamon rolls when he has donuts? lol
@@NekaO-cg5qyyou don't burn many calories driving and climbing into the camper. Fyi
Cut the bell peppers in half vertically, crack an egg in each half, grill until eggs are done to your taste.
Thanks for sharing!
Will try that.sounds good.
"Thanks for keeping it real, man. From losing focus on your camera but keeping the footage, to the steak that caught fire, to eating real junk food-this is what camping is all about! The imperfect moments make the best memories."
This was so relaxing to watch. Great job putting this together. As someone with a super hectic and busy life this brough my stress level down just watching it. Wish I could do something like this. Keep up the good work!
Idea for the truck house to improve your door situation. Maybe installing a grate in front of the door would allow the snow to pass through instead of pile up.
Something with serrated ridges to double as a boot scraper like a door Matt.
Here in the UK 6 inches of snow will bring everything to a halt!! We need that thingamajig that helped you!
Tire chains would be helpful about now. It appears you received more snow there, than Eagle River did.
I remember that snow when I was young.....so ill choose to watch it on your channel...ive lived in nice warm Florida for 54 years now and prefer the sun. Your travels are fascinating and amazing! Love your cozy camper!!! Your doing just what God intended you to do and what alot of us wish we could... HAPPY TRAILS 🌲🥶
I'm very glad to meet you today with this video. Before I watch your other videos I want to write my feeling when I first see you.I looked at you and said that YOU ARE THE DREAM THAT I WANT TO BE! I really enjoyed your video and from now on I'm going to watch all your videos. Please don't stop posting your feelings, your memories and your life. Cheers from Türkiye, have a beautiful life like you.
As I do enjoy all your videos you upload. But these type of ones are the ones I enjoy the most. Simple. Relaxing.
Hearing you sing dust in a baggie by Billy Strings was perfect.
This guy has balls turning the diesel truck off in the middle of a blizzard
I was thinking the same thing. I'd have an extra 50 gallon tank and let her drink all night.
Hello to tims mom from Jan in the uk 🇬🇧 😊
The only thing that would make a hell of a difference about your truck would be to be able to go into the house through the rear of the car and avoid having to go outside everytime.
It would be but his cab is not tall enough unless he slid in and out of the truck
I agree. It makes it a hell of a easier to jump into a driver seat, throw into a gear, and leave, without being exposed to the outside.
@@townsenj02 Now there's a thought. A slide into his driver's seat and a zip wire at home from the top of the house to the ground. lol :)
Awesome video as always Timmy. That was some crazy snow drift. And the snow plow drive was such an awesome dude. Thanks for letting us ride along with you on your adventures.
A cozy camper in a snowstorm while cooking cinnamon rolls. Just perfect.
Good for you, keep living your dream and thank you for sharing it with us.
Only a true Alaskan like Tim can shovel a huge truck out of 4 feet of snow in a t shirt and coveralls lol you rock bro!
Yeah and then he goes inside to get the jacket while saying how cold it is 🤣🤣🤣 love him
Or a Canadian! I’m sure Tim would agree.
Yes, I agree. Shoveling 4 feet of snow, while wearing just a T-shirt and coveralls? Oh no--if I shoveled only one foot of snow, my balls would fall off...
Thought he was from North Carolina originally??
He’s the glamping king
I was cold just watching this from 73° in Texas. 🥶 Great video.
Dry spruce is a great fire starter. I use hand sanitizer gel to get it going. Also use lamp oil.
Cooking oil works well too
Timmy is not gonna do that, he’s not some bushkraft expert. He’s not use dry spruce or oils and such. He’s a glamper type of guy. Hence the hand held gas torch he uses to start fires in his camper and when he’s outside. Don’t expect him to rub sticks together, he’s just not that dude.
can i just say it was awesome of the DOT to clear you a path when he saw u were struggling that was pretty awesome!!
Im watching from Fiji on hot summer evening. Your camper looks' so warm and cosy and love your channel.
Can't wait for next winter already!! Come on out to maine!
OK Tim. As a 52 YOA cop whose been wearing a blue uniform and spending my time in SERVICE, mad respect for the coffee and donuts. (Krispy Creme added points). You are a legend. Keep it up kid!! Godspeed Tim, proud of ya.
No one cares you're a cop.
Love the snow mountain that sounds. Makesme just feel peaceful
Been watchin you for a long time. Good attitude, not too much click or fluff. Seem like a good dude. Super happy to see this break 1M. Not minding the cabin build either. Keep it up.
The music right around the 40 minute mark, while you're inchworming back and forth through the snow, is giving me major nostagia for the show FireFly.
Finland watching here!🫡
I thought that we have a lot of snow here but damn those drifts 😂
He says I don’t try to eat sweets very often but eats a full package of cookies every movie. That’s how I control my sweets also good job to Tim! Ha ha
B be
You do this for fun, winter’s coming in Minnesota and I wish I embraced the cold outdoors like you. I have too much anxiety for that, you are amazing
I recently found your channel. And I really enjoy watching your videos very interesting and entertaining.
every thought of adding soap stone tiles/blocks around the wood stove to retain the heat in the thermal mass.
Loved the Billy Stings song, cool AF man. 👍🏻🤟🏻🇨🇦🇨🇦
What was the song ?? Respectfully

Cinnamon rolls are definitely the best thing in the whole world!
I love it, I just love the whole idea of doing it alone, being your own resource, not bothering anyone.

WESTERN Pennsylvania waiting here. We don’t claim eastern Pennsylvania and Philly. That cesspool can be part of New Jersey or Delaware if they want it.
Lolol
Yeah man I drove through west pa bout year ago on the way to nashville.Love those paved backroads and whitetail deer.

That's one rude comment there fella. Anyone I've met west of Harrisburg, have been the cheapest, stinking breathe people than anywhere else in the country. Seriously. Philadelphia here.
Brisbane Queensland Australia will be watching! 🇦🇺👋
Melbourne watching too
Tassie also watching!
I just noticed “living in a van down by the river”….one of Farley’s greatest SNL skits. What a legend he was.
Australia here. We call them cinnamon scrolls. We also have vegemite scrolls, of course.
You could have cleaned your mug with snow.
You certainly earned a couple of beers after all of that
I guess the guy in the plow truck that actually helped him the most doesn’t get anything huh
Yes here in Denmark we call them Kanelsnegl 😊🇩🇰
Your videos are some of the most extreme winter camping videos online! Keep them coming!
In another dimension, Tims truck house travels to other worlds and the cosmos ❤
Edit: 10mins after posting, it occurred to me Tim is, in fact, traveling to many worlds. To us normies, these are other worlds. Blessed 😇
I love watching all that beautiful snow! But it’s better for me to see it all from the comfort of my house in Texas lol
