But then halfway through the episode he says he doesn’t have enough firewood. Which one is it?

    Did you check your RABS module (Rear Anti-lock Brake Module), those can cause the speedo to jump and erratic shifting. Also the VSS in the rear diff reads off a tone ring for the speedo as well, if its not getting a good signal because the tone ring was set wrong when you had the diff work done it could throw the sensor off as well. If younhave a shop with a ossiliscope they can watch the wave length and pin point the issue better. Had the same issue with my bronco turned out to be the RABS module. Good luck and as always try to have fun!

  • @DJKorosiv
    @DJKorosiv Месяц назад +2

    If youve got the E4OD transmission and recently regeared, you may want to check the speedometer gear at tye end of the the speedosensor, which if like mine, plugs into the transfercase at the output shaft. These are a small plastic gear with teeth that spin off another plastice gear inside the transfer case. Because theyre plastic, the teeth get worn and then the gesr doesnt spin properly, which means the speedo cable doesnt spin correctly and your speedometer needle bounces around erratically. The transmission takes input from the speed sensor and shifts accordingly. Thus, a worn speedometer drive gear could cause a bouncing needle and erratic transmission shifting.

    Pretty sure that diesel heater is not designed to be installed vertically.
    Exhaust and intake for the combustion should be pointed downward and generally they can be tilted 30 degrees or so end to end.
    In a pinch you can mount them on their side but the glow plug needs to be on the top side.
    At this point its probably pretty fouled up with diesel. You might be able to pop the exhaust off and dump any excess fuel if there is any. Then hose it out with brake parts cleaner.
    Then mount it up properly and maybe set up a little tempporary fuel can and run some kerosene through it for a bit to clean it up.
    As long as the glow plug is not completely wrecked I bet it will still work.

    I had to find and fix a similar problem years ago. A wiring harness next to the alternator had chafed against the mounting bracket and was intermittently shorting out which caused the speedometer to twitch like yours is doing.

    Timmy, the gear the vss reads in the differential is just pressed on the carrier. It was probably disturbed or damaged. Pull the cover and check it. Also if you need a psom I have good ones ready to go I'll sell cheap.

    Everybody hits some speed bumps along the way. You are doing so much, between all the adventures, the film work and the editing, all while building a house (I know you call it a cabin but it's a house!). You do a great job on all of it, which is impressive even when nothing is going wrong. I just hope you take enough time for yourself. Take care Mr. Timmy!

    Timmy is always finding a positive take on every situation. Heat is broke, truck is broke, no towel, shower closed, and so on.
    His response is to light a fire, pay Uncle Sam, and get editing.

    Ok. I drive a big truck with a heater in it. The shop told me to run in on max heat alot to keep it clean. Sence I've been doing that, it hasn't stoped working. Max heat for 3 hrs or so. But do it often. Burns off the soot.

    Try cleaning the flame sensor with a dollar bill, it’s just abrasive enough to not damage them, works for commercial units pretty well if you don’t have their special cleaning pads
