The fact that Jim Carrey did The Mask, Ace Ventura and Dumb and Dumber in 1994 is an unbelievable feat of comedy history.

I know he did that. I love them all are incredible. My baby brother who is 3 loves Jim Carrey so much. He is good at recognising him, Will Smith, Jackie Chan, Mike Myers, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chris Tucker, Adam Sandler and Dwayne johnson. These guys are the ones he know first and love. He even love Friends TV show and Charlie's angles film with Cameron Diaz.

@@k3n12ock Yeah Jim Carrey did. He was a bit like great slapstick and physical comedic guy like Charlie Chaplin and Stephen chow from hong kong if you know him and Jackie Chan was a bit like Jim Carrey if you see the differences because Jackie also done some slapstick physical comedy and plus Jackie does some goofiness similar to Jim and they mention similarly in Hollywood when Jackie had his breakthrough role Rumble in the bronx before he did Rush hour. Even during Jackie early success in hong kong he was goofy in some of his films like Jim and we know Jim does some Action and Comedy similar to Jackie's action and comedy too. Plus he did action, comedy, stunts and martial arts because of his influence with a bit of bruce lee, Charlie chaplin, Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd, Fred Astrie and Gene Kelly. Did you know.

Jim Carrey said on Inside The Actor’s Studio that after he made Ace Ventura he met Anthony Hopkins, and was surprised to find out they both used the same acting technique for Ace Ventura and Hannibal Lecter respectively.
Hopkins thought of crocodiles and spiders when he played as Hannibal because Lecter is an ambush predator. Whereas Carrey thought of Ace as a very smart and hyperactive bird, hence all the large and quick body movements, especially the bobbing head movements.

Sean Young was in Blade Runner (84). This was her comeback after she lost the role of Cat Woman to Michelle Pfeiffer. She went on late Night with letterman (I think) dressed as catwoman stating how she was intentionally not picked by the producer and blacklisted (which was sad to watch). Studios were not too keen on hiring her for roles. But she really is an impressive actress. She added to the humor in this role.

I know some people say they liked the first one better (maybe because it was most people's first experience with Jim Carrey's comedy and it's hard to beat that feeling of discovering something so unexpected). But a lot of people, me included, like Ace Ventura 2 better than the first one. Whichever one people prefer, I don't think anyone would tell you that they're not both great and hilarious. If you enjoyed this one, I'd definitely recommend reacting to part 2. And, y'know, make space in your brain for another treasure trove of quotable quotes.

For sure watch the sequel to this. There is only two movies. I think there is a third movie where Ace is younger but it does not have Jim Carrey in it so I would just skip that one. Also watch Liar Liar and The Truman Show for more Carrey movies.

Ventura: "hi Captain Stubing! How are Gopher and Doc? Permission to come aboard?"
He's referencing a tv series called "The Love Boat" (from the 70s? 80s?) while also mocking the butler's uniform.

All of these references that went over their head is sad.
It'd be like me not getting references of things from the 50's when I was in High School in the early 90's.
How can the 70's not exist in their heads?

When i was a kid i always thought something was off with that scene in Einhorn's office.
Years later i figured it out. Einhorn used the bathroom too quickly. Little bit of a clue for the ending reveal.

Among Jim Carrey's comedies, the two Ace Ventura movies are right up there. Liar Liar is probably the best as a combination of writing and acting. And then Me, Myself, and Irene has the most over-the-top, dial it up to 11, how the hell did he do that level of physical comedy acting I've ever seen!

36:55 They literally WERE laughing during the scene!! Go back to around 37:10 and watch them (their movements) closely. Both of them are laughing, especially her (watch her face as she quickly turns and hides it from the camera --bcz she's laughing, and look at her shoulders). They couldn't hide it from the scene. There is no Jim Carrey classic comedy where the cast weren't laughing their asses off. 😂💀
