Studios were not too keen on hiring her for roles. But she really is an impressive actress. She added to the humor in this role.

That scene is from the original VHS cut and wasn't in the theatrical release or what is streamed today. Unfortunately, you have to own the VHS or the original DVD release to watch this scene. It's unfortunate too because it's a great scene that many of us grew up watching. I hope one day the original VHS/television cut is rereleased on Blu-ray. It adds so much to the film and is a peak Carrey moment.

Among Jim Carrey's comedies, the two Ace Ventura movies are right up there. Liar Liar is probably the best as a combination of writing and acting. And then Me, Myself, and Irene has the most over-the-top, dial it up to 11, how the hell did he do that level of physical comedy acting I've ever seen!
I'd add Yes Man to that list as well
36:55 They literally WERE laughing during the scene!! Go back to around 37:10 and watch them (their movements) closely. Both of them are laughing, especially her (watch her face as she quickly turns and hides it from the camera --bcz she's laughing, and look at her shoulders). They couldn't hide it from the scene. There is no Jim Carrey classic comedy where the cast weren't laughing their asses off. 😂💀

I was born in 1983. Hadn't even seen this till high school. But somehow quoted about 20 things in this film all part of gradeschool and middleschool. That is HOW much of a imprint this movie had on pop culture.
Jim said he knew how juvenile the character was and either it was going to be a huge hit with kids or it was going to bomb spectacularly. Fortunately, it was the former.
