    I absolutely love your approach Laura and explanation of planting seeds into several sketchbooks. It has taught me not to be overly obsessed with having to complete any one page! I find this so liberating and less judgemdntal about my efforts. I'm so grateful to have found your channel 🎉 it's like breathin new air into my lungs! ❤

    Thank you for sharing your sketchbook with us. Love to see how excited you are about experimenting longer. Sometimes we get caught up in the process and forget to enjoy each part. I listened to this episode of the podcast twice and really loved it. Very insightful and glad to hear you are not caving to the Instagram pressure to do reels. I think they probably have their place in social media, but at 57, I find them frustrating for anything that I really want to spend time to LOOK at, and art is one of those things I want to take my time enjoying.
    Love your work and your gentle, mindful way, Laura.

    I so enjoyed seeing the pages in your journal. I haven’t tried negative space painting yet. I started my first art journal book in February and only used the pages that were on the right side…not knowing if the paper could handle being painted on the backs…well I went back and started the left pages after I finished the others. It’s a hodge-podge of uncohesiveness but it’s my exploring as a new artist. Thank you again! I put a hold for that book at the library.

    Interesting... Fabriano is the only paper pad I ever returned to a store b/c I thought the quality was so bad. I have used their Ecoqua line of journals for writing and find those to be ok though. I also bought the Kuretake 24 set, I believe as my 1st upgrade from student watercolor pans and thought the quality was actually worse than Prang children's sets! I gave those away. They didn't feel like watercolor at all, but watered down acrylic. They didn't perform as watercolors. I really hated them

    • @LauraHornArt
      @LauraHornArt  Месяц назад

      That is interesting. I wouldn't say Fabriano is my favourite paper by a long shot; I just find that there's something about that book that makes me want to keep experimenting-it might even be because the paper isn't amazing. I do enjoy the Kuretake paints, but I agree with you-they are not really like watercolour. That's one of the reasons they aren't in my latest video about watercolour supplies-they are much more gouache/acrylic-like. There are some pretty colours though, and they are vibrant; they just don't have that sheer glisten of watercolour and lovely watercolour effects.

    thank you for sharing your beautiful art and process with generosity , but I must say : this fabriano sketchbook s**** ! It s totally horrible for watercolors even the Kuretake , not very nice for drawing either and the only use I could find for it it's to do some abstract grid with acrylic . It buckles , peel off ... I ll never buy it again. This is my modest personal opinion. But I would 100% recommend the beautiful art nouveau kuretake pallet , so awesome ! Bisous from France !

    Hello! I really loved this video - looking through your sketch book. This cemented into my mind the need to just play in a sketchbook. To use it to see what ideas might come up. Then be able to use those ideas for a piece of art. I think I've really been missing the boat by not using a sketchbook to get me further into my art processes - if this makes sense🤔😊Thanks Laura. Wish you showed more of your Art, instead of talk, talk TALKING. Art is about images and watching artist creating a piece speaks Louder than all the endless WORDS. Why not be a writer if talking, reading is your passion.

    • @LauraHornArt

      It may not be for you, but many people enjoy words and art. Art can be many things. It comes down to taste. Maybe silent RUclips channels might be more enjoyable for you and that’s fine, but thats not what you’ll find here. I won’t be changing my path as I’m happy being a chatty artist that reads books.
