I really appreciate you showing the struggle of coming up with botanical drawings. I get stuck there a lot too and it’s just nice for someone to show how they worked through that
How fun! I have that very baohong journal, and I just opened it! I painted the blue tree landscape you did day two (I think). Have a great day. Thanks Shana 😊
Shana, I just love your videos, sketching, and painting. Oh, and I love seeing blooms in paintings and appreciate you showing that example as well. Thank you for sharing.
i thought this was going to be too simple but it was fun, and I learned so much in many areas of watercolor. Thank you Shana!!! I'm so excited to make tomorrow's birds. So much fun while learning day after day.
What a fun idea! Woke up at 4am (ugh) and this was the algorithm’s choice for me. I’ve liked and sub’d…almost want to get up and journal right now! I’m new to watercolor and learning how to use this medium. Your channel is wildly inspirational in a very mellow way. Thank you for making these videos. ❤🧑🎨🎨
Reason for watercolor vs acrylics. I started with acrylics in tole painting. Wanting to be loose with watercolor. Am trying to play daily. A wk into the new adventure
I am definitely trying this…SO fun!! Thanks so much for the daily inspiration, Shana ❤️ I just ordered the Baohong journal using your link and can’t wait to start painting in it when it arrives. I’m having a fairly invasive surgery tomorrow so I’m trying to get my mind off things by watching all of your previous videos 😄
I love that Baohong journal. Enjoy! Painting is great way to get your mind off things. Best of luck with your surgery. Sending you lots of healing vibes.
CONSEGUI!!!!😀 Claro que não ficou igual, mas estou feliz em ter seguiu passo a passo suas orientações que são altamente didáticas e alegres. Obrigada!!🙏 Estou muito feliz😀🙌🏻🙌🏻
Sheena, I know you don’t just cater to me but I’m new to watercolor about a good year now but can we do more shadow, shading practices. I’d appreciate it ❤
Thank you so much for this idea! That was just exactly what I needed today ❤ So relaxing and fun without pressure! I couldn't stop at nine and now I have sixteen beautiful rectangles in my sketchbook. Thank you so much Shana.
I just ordered that watercolor journal. You have inspired me to start journaling each day. I really like watching your videos. I’m glad I found your channel. Thanks for your inspiration.
I'm thoroughly enjoying this series and have started wc on a journal. I tried your lovely shapes from the other day. I doodled on top of my colours with paint instead of a pen. It was fun. Will try today's page. I'm a newbie at this.
I'd love a baohong sketchbook review after you use it for a while. Ive seen some reviews mention it fell apart at the binding and curious on how it will hold up over time.❤
Very interesting video and love the idea of adding the lines on top of the swatches. I noticed your metal palette you are using. Could you post a link to that palette? Thank you.
@@hollyhueston1502 yes. The link at towards the top is for the journal in this video but the Baohong you can find a little ways down under other supplies I use. 😁
Just came across your channel--I love these everyday journaling activities/ideas! Quick question: the size/shape of my journal is very similar to yours, and one problem I've had is that because the paper/surface isn't perfectly flat (like a spiral bound notebook), the watercolor pigment can bleed or spread in ways I don't want (i.e. the slant affects how the pigment spreads and pools). Have you experienced this issue, and if so, how do you fix it? Thanks so much, I'm pinning some of your videos to Pinterest right now!
Thanks for watching! Great question. You will notice in several of my other videos I use binder clips to secure the pages down so they lay flat. Great little tool to have in your art supplies. I hope that helps! 😁
Hi Shana. I am wondering if your billed proof white is quash (spelling??). I am enjoying your channel. Love how you work. Also, is there a video on how you use your tube paint as a block?
Bleed proof white is a thing all its own. However, you could use white gouache as a substitute. I don’t have a video currently about making pan paints out of tube paints, but I can mention it in an upcoming video.
Love this. I get so stuck trying to come up with doodle ideas. My relaxing painting session then turns into a stressful time and I often give up. I'm working on something similar which is taking days and days because I take so long deciding what to do! I like the idea of the journal though and just found a little one on Temu which was pretty cheap. When that arrives I'm going to dedicate it to mindful watercolour so I can hopefully learn to relax more! ❤
Great question. In this case, no. The paint is staying where it is. But this can happen for a few reasons. 1. Your paper and paint will play a big role. More economical paper and paints will easily lift when you try to layer. Especially non cotton papers. This can frustrate a lot of beginners. 2. You have to let the first layer completely dry. 3. You have to be gentle when applying. If you use a lot of pressure or scrub paint on, it can also cause lifting. I hope that helps.
What a fun, loose & creative way to swatch out and test colors! Thank you so much for sharing! 🙏 Can't wait to try this with all my watercolor paints and pans! ❤🌻

For the benefit of kids who might be watching, those are rectangles. Thanks for the tutorial. I’m going to try them. 👍
Rectangles ARE squares, geometrically speaking.

This will be my third Baohong journal. I love them and haven’t had any problems with mine so far. They are my favorite by far to most I have tried.
@shanacirce2667 thank you. I'm going to have to try them out then.
This is a cute idea to combine a colorful background with line drawings. Great pieces! 😊👌

The Baohong journals are available on Amazon.
Yes! There is a link in the description of this video. For a while the Cold press ones were difficult to get.
But is the link to the same journal … seems a different brand?

@@hollyhueston1502 I think so. I sure hope so, as I have so many sketch books. The Baohong paper is quite nice.

I love your colors. What is the brand of paints you use? Do you prefer pans or tubes?
Thank you. I use QOR paints by Golden. I prefer my pans that I made from tube paints.
@@shanacirce thank you.

I have a question- as you are adding more paint on top of your dried paint, does it get picked up?
Great question. In this case, no. The paint is staying where it is. But this can happen for a few reasons. 1. Your paper and paint will play a big role. More economical paper and paints will easily lift when you try to layer. Especially non cotton papers. This can frustrate a lot of beginners.
