I always like it when people actually use the product for a reasonable time before they give a review. I hate the "unbox, use it once, review as great" - I think obviously paid reviews. Fair and honest is always worth it. Thanks for your opinion on this product.

Actually most of the reviews are not “paid for” by the companies. Most of the people doing reviews buy the equipment outright and because they mention the manufacturer and devices, if they have enough followers and constant views, sometimes they get sent gear to do reviews on. It helps manufactures get the word out about the gear and they actually use the review as R&D for what to include in firmware updates and subsequent hardware.
I have one and absolutely LOVE it. Worth every single penny I spent on it. Fantastic technology!
In the U.S., you not only need to be Part 107 certificated to use the drone for NON-recreational use (as others have stated in the comments), but many don't realize that you still must register this drone with the FAA if it is being used for non-recreational use. Registration is NOT required ONLY for recreational use -- as long as you keep the drone under the weight requirement. All other FAA rules/laws still apply to the drone and it's use.
I really love the pictures you take. It makes good use of the beautiful countryside.

I bought my first drone ever. Yes it is the Mavic Mini. I bought it November 24, 2020. It is now November 30, 2020 and I have had it in the air 4 times. I have been recording the construction of my new home and the development of the subdivision. So far I love this drone. Was able to get it up and flying with no issues on day one. Next I need to find an unobstructed field so I can practice honing in the controller for smoother flights. Your video was great.

I bought mine like a month after you did and i have had kind of similar issues with mine. But overall i am very pleased with it and i have had some real fun times with it. A tip is to lock the aperture in photo mode, and then it uses that when filming. Then you dont have the issue that is changes aperture depending if you film the sky or the ground. It looks so much better that way in the videos. Thank you for sharing!

Do you mean shutter speed? Mavic Mini's aperture is fixed to f/2.8 and not adjustable.

Thank you for this review. Very practical and honest. Your location looks great for filming. Im interested in your cold weather experience. While where I am i don't get a lot of cold days, we do usually have a few days with snow and i normally do a lot of photography of nearby farmlands etc. Knowing what to expect when flying in cold weather is helpful indeed. Looking forward to more of your videos.

So basically, for under a thousand dollars it's a great purchase, with a variety of options and features. It seems pretty user friendly as well, the videos you've released with drone footage is very good, with clear and stable video. I believe with your review, this would be a good first drone purchase for beginners. This was a great review!

You absolutely need to remember to STOP RECORDING before you power down the drone, or your SD Card files will get corrupted!

If the files get corrupted due to forgetting to turn off the recording before cutting the power from the drone, there is an easy fix. Just turn on the drone again with the SD card inserted and it will automatically fix (finish) the corrupted files. Happened to me a few times.

Nice review, I love my Mavic Mini... its small and portable with the charging bank and three batteries. Also one of the draw backs, its so small and lightweight that the wind greatly reduces the ability to fly safely. One thing I added, and by the looks of your surroundings could be beneficial, they make little skids that your can attach to the bottom like a helicopter, it raises the drone up and protects the gimbal and rear blades if you are taking off/landing in gravel and mowed grass. I also picked up an aluminum mount so that I can run the drone with my iPad, much nicer with the big display. Happy Flying!!! Your property looks beautiful.

@@TheWildYam probably... but I would opt for a safer launch/landing than care about the grams. The rear blades get messed up and your flight could end badly.

As for the recording failure on mine if I don’t turn the Record off before Turning the Mini off this have an effect on the recording so when you enter it into your MacBook it says something like it’s corrupted or cannot read the file ! I then try the same mini sd card with the film on it a few days later and it works !
I’m no expert but I’ve found this works! Stop the Recording before turning off the drone and controller etc! and hopefully this may solve your problem. Also with the props I had it tell me that the left rear wasn’t ok and I couldn’t see anything wrong with them, but changed them anyway and hey presto I was back flying again! Great little drone, and now I’ve just purchased the mini 2, like your channel so will be subbing! 👍🇬🇧

I just bought a Mavic mini a couple of months ago and I have had trouble with the sd cards too! I replaced the card with an empty new one and so far that fixed it.

Yes Jen, the quality of your SD card and its ability to record in low temperatures is related. SanDisk is generally the best to go for but in low temps, you're up against it. One tip, make sure the contacts on there SDS card are clean with isocol alcohol for the best result, Thanks for your time and review. Cheers Gaz
For the colors, try getting some filters... they are easy to use and give you better pics and videos depending on your lighting and exposure and such.

Excellent food for thought. I love photography and I would love to consider something like this to see the wild critters in areas that I am exploring. Clarification
If you intend to use even the mavic mini for commercial purposes. (make any money with it) you would still need the faa107 license for yourself as the operator. The mavic mini itself you do not need to register the craft bc of the weight.
It depends what country you are from and your regulations.
First time viewer! I really appreciate your input regarding the DJI Magic Mini. I was given this drone one year ago as a gift for my birthday, sadly I have not even open the box yet. Yes, the drone is still brand new in a unboxed box. Life got in the way. Now, here we go again... I can go out and learn how to fly this amazing piece of technology. Thank you!

People keep getting one thing wrong. The only thing the mavic mini relieves you from is registering it with the FAA. However rules and regulations governing operations still apply. And the license refers to if you want to use the drone for commercial use. The drone only weighing 249 only relates to registering it with the FAA.

Thanks for the review which I enjoyed. I got my Mavix mini maybe 3 months or so after you got yours and am really enjoying it. I live in the NW UK so we don't get the low temperatures that you experience although, living on the coast, we do get some pretty strong winds. All in all the drone has dealt well with the weather here.

In Australia, you need to register the drone and take a free interactive test to get accreditation, then spend money on getting an owner’s certificate if you plan on using anything bigger than 2kg

Maybe your recording problems originate from the SD-card? I use a Sandisk without probs.
The connectivity is better with a Yagi-antenna, they really work.
You should achieve a smoother gimbal movement if you adjust the gimbal sensitivity and speed.
It is really a great drone, have fun with it!

Vey beautiful review of your experience with the Mm. Thanks for sharing it with all of us! The latest App upgrades are supposed to address the freezing App issue. Also it is my experience to not fly it below -5C because the gimbal may freeze very easily. Reformating the SD card may correct the issues. I prefer formatting the SD card in FAT to get video recordings in 4 GB chunks.

I've been looking at the Mavic Mini long enough that I decided to grab the Fly More set up for $100 off on Amazon Day(and, finally got around to upgrading from my old Samsung J3, a few days ago). After a year, would you say they've done OK fixing some of the more common App issues I've read about(My new phone is doing the dreaded 'Update to Android10 as I'm typing this)? Thanks, again, for a review from someone who gave it time to find good days and bad days with this drone.
It has been OK. The app does still crash though.

im writting in case you dont know, and maybe save you some trouble in the future, i saw on another youtuber's channel that basically if you use your drone to make any type of revenue, including youtube, the faa requires you to get the part 107 license and register the drone. the channel is milesdeep, he did a video explaning how the faa got in touch with him about the license and that other stuff.

Great review! I just took advantage of the Amazon Prime Day special. and picked up the Fly More Combo for $399. Could not resist. My only comment on your video is that you kept referring to it as a Plane. Planes have wings, this is a Quad or Drone :). Again, GREAT video.

Thank you for sharing with us . :) Your footage looks great. I used mavic mini for 4 months, the recordings from phone are not ok, no matter what I do.... :( I shoot some footage at mud volcanoes, some feedback would be appreciated.
The videos on the phone will always be not good. Go with the footage from the SD card. Sounds like the things you are looking at are interesting!

Simply letting you know, the footage is pretty affected by the youtube compression. I have seen much high quality image coming out of this little drone im other reviews. You should try to upscale you videos to 4k and upload after. Usually will not compress as much 😁

My drone (X7 Ranger) sends video directly to the cell phone in addition to the sd card, does the mini offer this?
Yes. You can download the footage from the drone to the phone too.
@@TheWildYam I mean mine doesnt have to download it to the phone. After each flight, the footage is already on my phone and available to review and edit.

So if you want to be a Professional Aerial Photographer and work for Hollywood or National Geographic .... Don't get the Mini ! ... Buy a Bigger More Expensive drone , that you have to Register , Pass a Test to Fly and Know how to do all the Technical Skills of a Professional Photographer ..... Hmmmm ..... But the Mini gives you some Fantastic stabilized Pictures , Costs less than a DIY Drone and comes with everything You Need to get Started ! .... Plus you can stick it in your Pocket and take it anywhere ! ..... Basically a Go Pro that Flies for 25 minutes , up to a mile away and for the same Price ! ..... When you think about it ..... the Mavic Mini or Mini 2 is the Best Bang for your Buck going !
