THE DETAIL:
Our computers connect using Miracast, a technology utilising Wi-Fi Direct. It enables the two devices to connect directly, without need for a Wi-Fi access point, i.e., no internet connection. So less cables, less clutter - only a laptop power cable was used.

SET UP PROCESS 👇
✅ 1. Use Your Laptop As A Second Monitor Overview 🕖 0:00
✅ 2. Check Your PC / Laptop Both Support Miracast 🕖 1:27
Both devices must support Miracast so you can use your laptop as a second monitor. The video assumes both devices support Miracast. Most modern devices should support Miracast. Check this by going to notifications tray, click 'connect' from menu. If not supported, will say 'Your PC or mobile device doesn't support Miracast, so it can't project wirelessly'. I believe Microsoft supported Miracast from Windows 8.1.
✅ 3. Ensure Wireless Display Feature Is Installed 🕖 2:57
In search bar, type 'apps'. Select apps & features. Select 'optional features' top of screen. In optional features page, type 'wireless' in search bar. Need to install wireless feature? - click 'add a feature button'. When 'add an optional feature' window opens, type 'wireless' in search box. When 'wireless display' appears, tick box to select & click install. An internet connection is needed to install this feature. Installation begins.
✅ 4. Set Up Projection Settings 🕖 5:23
Type 'projection' in search bar & select 'projection settings'. If options greyed out, then likely wireless display feature isn't installed. The 'projecting to this PC' window should show various options. Select one - 'Some Windows and Android devices can project to this PC when you allow them' - available everywhere on secure networks, available everywhere, always off (recommended); 'ask to project to this PC' - every time a connection is requested, first time only, 'require a pin for pairing' - never, first time, always; 'this PC can only be discovered for projection when it's plugged into a power source' - on or off.
✅ 5. Connect Your Laptop As A Second Monitor 🕖 7:13
Go to notifications tray. Select 'connect' from menu. 'CONNECT - searching for wireless display & audio devices' opens. Laptop name should appear - sometimes takes several seconds. If happy, select laptop name. Will then say 'connecting, enter the pin of your device'. A box will appear on laptop asking to connect - 'Connect... is attempting to project'. Set connection frequency. Another screen opens on laptop giving you a pin. To proceed, enter pin on projecting device. Then click 'connect'. "Your laptop ... is ready for you to connect wirelessly' appears. If connection is successful, laptop screen should look like an extended version of your projecting PC. You can set device up for gaming, working or watching videos - click cog on 'connected to your device' bar. Once connected you can move apps between displays, assuming set up for extended displays - ours is. You can also duplicate displays, show only on monitor 1 / 2. Want to stop using your laptop as a second monitor wirelessly? Click "disconnect". Your laptop & other computer will return to two separate PC's.

Any chance you have another video of connecting a Win10 laptop as a monitor to a Win11 laptop? I'm having one hell of a time trying to get them to connect successfully (they both are miracast-enabled, and usually can find the other one (though I have to select "Enable everywhere" vs just the secured connection). Was thinking maybe it's a firewall issue or that I forgot the correct connection PIN. Is there a way to reset the pin to make sure that's not the issue? I can only find info on resetting the Microsoft "Hello" pin, and I'm not sure that they're necessarily the same thing. I get to the step where the "monitor" laptop is discovered by the "CPU" laptop but can't get any farther. Thanks!
did you ever figure this out?
how do you use the laptop's camera as your camera for the pc?
My pcs do not support miracast i try to connect cables either vga or hdmi but it doesnt seem to work... Is there a solution to this?

hey i have a question, im having trouble connecting to my pc to my laptop but i can connect my laptop to my pc, any tips on how to make it work? maybe i have to disable some security features or something on my laptop?
Hi - does your PC support Miracast? See my video at 1:30 - it could be this. Could it be your firewall settings? Also you could try restarting both devices. Thanks.
@@TheTechGuru I was thinking firewall settings, but not sure what would need to be changed to enable it. Something on the "monitor" side is preventing the successful connection
My Laptop based on Intel I5 4300U, and it dos't work :(
won't work with the old dell for some reason
Im on windows 11 and it dosnt work anyone know why,i did everything he has done and my laptop and pc are both capable,my laptop sees my pc but my pc dosnt see my laptop
it didnt connect
pls fix
hey. i try to make my laptop as second monitor. but my pc doesnt support miracast. any suggestion so i can still make my laptop as a second screen?
hard-wired connection probably requiring a directly-wired cable connection
Does it work the same for windows 11
Hey, I believe so, but the steps are a little different. If you are using a windows 11 as the operating pc (instead of the monitor), you can go to "Bluetooth & devices" to pair them by selecting the blue "Add device" button and then choosing the Wireless display or dock option. So long as you've enabled the miracast feature on the "monitor" computer, you should be able to discover it. I'm kinda stuck at this step though and am thinking (hoping haha) it's a firewall issue. I can discover the "monitor" and it prompts me for the pin, but even w/o the pin requirement it won't connect, so I'm thinking it's a firewall issue *sigh*
What if i dont u use cable wifi
My laptop isn't set up for Wireless Display but whenever I try to install it, it keeps saying "Installation Failed". I've tried doing it via CMD, still nothing. Any help please?
