    This is a review I should have watched BEFORE I bought on. I ended up paying a little more than you quoted but I got outstanding service and set up from a local shop. This is my first compound bow and I'm glad it hit all the marks and received praise from you. Hopefully I'll grow into this bow and thrive with it for a while before wanting a flagship. Thanks for your review.

      I feel like it's gonna be more than enough for a solid couple of years, maybe even ten. I plan to hunt with it this year!

    I’ve been really impressed with the G5/Prime line. I have a (very underrated) Quest Rev from 2012 and man what a back wall this bow has. I also had a Prime Ion and I will always regret selling it. To me Prime is built different and is the most underrated bow company on the market and idk why. Mathews and Hoyt are great bows but nothing holds like a Prime and they’re so customizable when you order one. Thanks for your reviews man. Just subscribed to your channel. Keep it up. 🤙🏻

    Love your budget and midlevel bow reviews. I think some of the flag ship bows that so many stores and channels push, scare newer archers or people with lower incomes away from really getting into bow hunting to the extent that they could be enjoying it. Bow hunting isn't a cheap sport if you are just getting into it, especially with stands or saddles. It's a big commitment which can scare some people away with the economy being the way it is and the difficulty over other types of hunting, such as rifle. Seeing that you have so many good options at half the cost of the flagships, or sometimes less, is only going to make the support grow and increase competition that will hopefully create higher quality bows at lower costs to us all.

      Well said sir..I compare shooting a bow to golf.. I never play so I could have a club set worth thousands of dollars and 12 year little Johnny that has been hacking away with his $50 garage sale set would beat the brakes off me.That is what makes shooting a bow so great you don’t need a ton of money to be good..

    With the budget bows there is also room to upgrade and grow the bow too. Like you stated the limb dampeners, stabilizers, upgrade the string guard to a roller setup. Strings when they wear out. If it’s ready to shoot version sight, rest, etc. It sounded twangy but that could be the lack of dampeners and the plastic wearing on the cable guards.

    Awesome review I requested this a while ago and you didn’t disappoint. It really is a awesome bow I own it and since I had kids I really quit buying flagship bows every year but I do buy a new “budget”bow every year for probably the last 7 years and so far this bow has blown me away for the last 2 years owning.. The noise you’re hearing is a deceiving sound. Sounds loud but it is a foreign noise and the culprit is the string stop.. Take a monkey tail stuff the rounded end in the hole with a pencil or whatever u like cut the tail flush with the string stop.Problem solved if you want to take it one step farther put dampener on string stop rod also… The prime marketing sucks when it comes to this bow it’s a shame really but understandable.

      1 more thing that sound you hear when the cam rolls over and hit cable stops is solved buy cutting 2 small strips mole skin and applying to cable stops.

    What would you prefer, quest centec or bear legend xr?

    • @BackyardBows
      @BackyardBows  8 месяцев назад

      Quest is discontinued and what prime is doing is making a highend budget bow which I will tell u it’s solid for the price, but I would go with the bear between those two, I’m sure u can still find quest for awhile

      Nothing to do with them shutting down as they are many in circulation u can buy, I can say it was a close runner up I loved the quest centec for the price

    Great review like always. I think budget bows are very important to get people into the great sport of bow hunting . Even if that's your main bow. Budget bows of today are like flagship bows of 5 to 7 years ago. I shoot flagship bows not to be cocky. But it is my life. I only bow hunt . I belong to a archery club. Some of my vacations are taking trips to go bow hunting on private ranch. Bow hunter for life

    Floating yokes are crap. I'll stick with my Quest Thrive. However, IF I were to get the Centec, I'd order PSE's yoke spreaders to use on this bow because I'll basically be making 1 string and 2 cables with much longer static yokes to criss-cross into the PSE yoke spreaders. I could then go back to yoke tuning the cam lean like I have always done with dual cam bows.

    Get hold Nathan land the owner high country archery or get a hold hca try a xr12 their bows are under 1,000 dollars has lot different tech on em crazy adjustable draw weight range, reverse limb pockets, can take bow down in field without bow press.

    The bow doesn't seem to peak as loud, but the sound seems to twang out longer than others if that makes sense.
    Overall, a very solid bow if it wasnt a budget bow. Definitely not fast, but plenty fast enough for hunting. The smooth and relatively forgiving draw cycle is something most shooters would benefit from, not just beginners or older shooters or shooters recovering from a shoulder injury.

    Just bought one from cabelas and thought the string looked weird in the cams and when u brought it back it basically blew up in my hands and has to get re-strung🥲

      That’s the worst, I had complications with a PSE levitate right out the Box, don’t see that much but if something looks off better safe than sorry
