I'm not, but thanks to your "subtle" message I've removed the "offensive" language. Take care & Peace! Also, I'm a bit puzzled by your reply to Sean Jenkins comment in this thread which says, "Everybody sure loves Black music," and your retort is, "No we don't." You seem to "vacillate" on your racial stance, or maybe your medication isn't working properly? We? Well you don't and couldn't speak for ME. You're far too "limited!"
She was deservedly the biggest female artist in the UK during the 60's. Shame how her career diminished somewhat during the 70's. She was very versatile in her singing and she must be remembered as one of our best.
this song always brings tears to my eyes ......dusty you were and are the best ever xxxxx long live the 60s what a wonderful era to live through x memories are made of this x we are the lucky ones i reckon ?
I remember Merv Griffin singing this song on his show and dedicating it to his daughter named Sunny. Charlize Theron is currently making a movie about the life of Dusty Springfield and I can't wait for America to rediscover Dusty's talent!
6/8 and always one Key higher ! it`s one of the hardest Songs to sing ever, and she sing it Live in Realtime !!!!! without Monitor, wthout Earmic !!! OMG it`s absolutely fantastic, hope this Time and female Singer like her will come Back !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gorgeous and talented marvinga gaye and brilliant singer liz mitchell did lovely covers about this pretty song, but also dusty springfield did a good version.and these arrangement are beautiful.too

Wow! She really kicks ass on this one. Intonation is spot on, performance brillant all round. Love the choice of 3/4 time sig done as a jazz waltz over the usual 4/4 time.
Great version of this song....Only thing was I think she calls it a happy song....It was written by a guy about his brother who died before his time...but Dusty gives it an upbeat sound !!!!
Dusty is really a Irish girl. I saw a tribute by Martha Reeves (Martha and the Vandellas fame/Motown) where she mentioned Dusty as a great friend who sang with a lot of feeling and soul! I always thought she was British also... glad to hear she's Irish though!!
@AchelonX I don't think that labels like "soul" or "jazz" are useful to classify these versions. Actually I think that there are more "soul-like" versions of this song even here on youtube, starting from the original Hebb version. On the contrary, I think this Springfield version in the use of brass is rather akin to the Ellington-Sinatra version. The problerm I have with it has nothing to do with arrangement but only with the tempo. Less than two minutes it is just too fast for me.
Her versions of any cover were always better....she could outdo them all with her ingenious song styling & production, incredible vocal interpretations & level of quality from every angle. Simply perfection.
Likely the best female singer of all time. Dusty could sing anything, and always nail it. Her vocals had an incredible timbre & resonance!
Why the fuck are you so obsessed with the skin colour of someone you weirdo

The coolest british singer ever. Thank you.
Dusty was the greatest of them all.
Nobody else comes close.
She was deservedly the biggest female artist in the UK during the 60's. Shame how her career diminished somewhat during the 70's. She was very versatile in her singing and she must be remembered as one of our best.
What a doll Dusty is...she can nail any song she cares to try. Love you forever girl...

I remember Merv Griffin singing this song on his show and dedicating it to his daughter named Sunny. Charlize Theron is currently making a movie about the life of Dusty Springfield and I can't wait for America to rediscover Dusty's talent!
It’s hard to believe Dusty hated her own voice. I’d say she was the only one. Magnificent
I ignored it
Truly the greatest.
I’ve lived long enough to know that she is one of the very best singers I’ve ever heard. She doesn’t seem human.
Beautiful dress for backthen and she was so pretty and photogenic she could work as photomodel and actress too
The great Dusty Springfield. RIP angel.
Great interpretation, she puts her own spin on it. I've always liked that quality she has to her voice.
Fine version. Love Dusty with the rocking big band.
AWESOME
Gorgeous and talented marvinga gaye and brilliant singer liz mitchell did lovely covers about this pretty song, but also dusty springfield did a good version.and these arrangement are beautiful.too

Sonny one so true. I love you.
luv this song and spooky
Sunny in 3/4.
Usually 4/4.
Impressive phrasing you'd expect only an experienced jazz singer to be capable of
She's phenomenal! Can sing anything and make it sound better than anyone else.
Wow, thanks, hadn't registered that she did it in 3/4 time. I'm sure that was her doing!
I loveeeeeeeeeeeeee Dusty
Great version of this song....Only thing was I think she calls it a happy song....It was written by a guy about his brother who died before his time...but Dusty gives it an upbeat sound !!!!
super
Elegance...
live is glamorous delightful (.
wow. that's really hip in 6/8 [or 3/4, depending on how you feel it] ~ very unexpected!
Released 1967 👍
Pam & Tommy brought me here 2022
She got after it. Jazzy.
That's my girl!
Dusty is really a Irish girl. I saw a tribute by Martha Reeves (Martha and the Vandellas fame/Motown) where she mentioned Dusty as a great friend who sang with a lot of feeling and soul! I always thought she was British also... glad to hear she's Irish though!!

Лучшая...
Mary Catherine Bernadette O'Brien ~ That's Dusty Springfield.........
Mary Isabel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien
Cool,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Невероятное исполнение!
AMEN.
Is there somewhere that we can get all of her tv series on dvd? 4 years worth???
@randmace She was born in London to an English father and Irish mother.
Oh Gosh, why, why I wasn't born in 50s, or 60s?
good
Jazzy version many ways to sing a song Dusty🙂
This song is dedicated to Washington Redskins quarterback, Sonny Jurgensen.
Jaysus! With a name like Mary Isabel/Isobel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien her parents can only have come from one place!
? I know what this means and I'm not an experienced jazz singer!
Awesome singer, wonderful voice. But still I like the original better.
@Ricoventura and what about Petula Clark?
@gferdinandus no
that would be steve marriott
@carlotessarini well who gave you that idea??!?!?
22 dislikes? Very funny!
She was Irish actually!
You're arguing about her being English or Irish but on the inside she was pure Black American. (And quite a good singer I might add)
sorry but this is too fast.... love it still
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
does this song make you happy every day
This performance is fascinating

wasnt this originally by cher? well whatever dustys version was better!
Her versions of any cover were always better....she could outdo them all with her ingenious song styling & production, incredible vocal interpretations & level of quality from every angle. Simply perfection.
Back in the days when she made an effort to look feminine !!!
Play nice, now.
@carlotessarini
I don't question my friends either. But you're not my friend, sorry :)
Nope, I won't join you, whoever you are. Cheers!
TOO FAST
Eejit.
nice one, but cher's version is far better
Too fast, sounds almost like she wants to get rid of it asap. Maybe I'm used too much to the slow Sinatra-Ellington version.
