      Exactly, I saw these for the first time in Nepal about 11 years ago in 2009. Was my favorite sedan, kind if dream car. These used to cost 5-6 million Nepalese rupee (60-70 thousands euros). Now, I am finally planning to buy a used one for 9000 euros just to fulfill my dream 😀. I don't want the first gen or the third and fourth either though they all look good.

    Just bought a 2009 2.2 TS2 The wife and I love it. It feels very sure footed even with sh#t tyres ( getting better ones very soon, I just don't trust cheap tyres).
    Very well equipped and has a huge boot space. Really pleased with it.

    I was looking to change my car and I was thinking of a Honda Accord or Mazda 6. I decided to go for the Mazda even though I heard in review's about cheap plastics and timing chain issues but I got a very good deal. I payed 3800 euro for a 2011 Mazda 6 SE sport with full service history. I only have the car 3 weeks but I am really happy with it so far.

    • @paulanderson79
      @paulanderson79 6 лет назад +4

      I've been running a 2012 one for a couple of years now. So far it's been very good indeed. Check the history as I believe there was a timing chain and tensioner recall which allegedly fixes the chain issue. Mine a 180PS Sport estate and being right at the end of production is loaded with kit. Plastics better than pre-2010 models. Downsides are more tyre noise than I'd like but the drive is excellent.
      Keep on to of oil services as well. I get mine done every 6000 miles, and you MUST use oil rated ACEA C1 or JASO DL-1. This is crucial otherwise it's bye bye DPF.

      hello, just read your review, im looking to buy a mazda 6, how is your car so far? as im a family of 5. so im looking for a mazda or a ford mondeo, im a bit confuse, your comment might give me a bit of more confidence, thank you in anticipation

    • @markcorcoran9866
      @markcorcoran9866 5 лет назад +6

      @@nadzz28 I purchased a 2011 Mazda 6 2.2 diesel 6 months ago. It's a beautiful car and I like it but there are some issues that need to be kept in check.
      I didn't know about these issues in the beginning so I am lucky I didn't damage the engine.
      Ok firstly they have a problem with leaking fuel injector seal's so these seal's need to be replaced every 20 to 30 K miles.
      The other issue I had was the oil pick up screen was getting clogged up but this was because of the injector seal problem.
      So basically when purchasing the 2.2 d I would advise to have the injector seal's replaced, have the oil changed and pick up screen checked and cleaned if necessary.
      After that I think an oil change and screen check every 10k km should be sufficient and injector seal's every 20 to 30k.
      I am keeping on top of these issues now. I put the car through the MOT test a few weeks ago and it passed first time with no other problems.
      So I am hoping now once I keep check on the oil pick up screen and injector seal's I will have my Mazda for many more year's.

    • @Driftuner
      @Driftuner 3 года назад +4

      @@DarthRevan12 well, ive owned a few toyotas, hondas and mazdas, at least 2 cars from each brand, and my experience with mazda has been nothing but amazing. Except for a bit of rust on the older models i would say that mazdas reliability is on the same level as honda and toyota. Here in Germany there is the TUV and Dekra, which are responsible for keeping cars reliability in check, and for the past 10 years or so mazda has been scoring higher than both other brands. Also worth mentioning that, unfortunately, hondas now a days are not quite as good as we like to think they are. Hondas quality has been taking some hits lately....a bunch of turbo, electrical and gearbox problems...in 2021 i trust mazda way more than a honda. And this is coming from a honda fan...

    I agree that it doesn't feel that uncomfortable, but comparing my 2007 leon, to my old mazda 323F from 1996, there are some parts which simply felt better. The doorpanels for example had this soft materials, which are just hard plastic in the leon. There was also a step backward in sense of materials comparing the interiour of a BMW E46 and a newer BMW E90.

Plus it now has 155000kms on the clock and it is now 2022!! The secret is I think regular servicing which I do every 5000-8000kms and I always use the most premium fuel. I have a 2009 SL, with the 2.2 chain diesel engine. Top of the range model, very rare. It is a saloon, like a proper car should be like haha, and it's the best car I've owned so far. Hard to find a premium car from same year with same level of kit on it without paying double the money. Best gadgets on it, in my opinion, are the Bose sound system, the sunroof and the bixenon headlights. But there's way more. Worst thing about the car is having to watch the oil level as it rises because of the crappy way it handles DPF regeneration, and the wind noise at high speeds, which is not that bad but still noticeable. But hey, want silence, go get an S-class. They lose value a lot it seems, that's good if you wanna buy one now, you can get an SL like mine for £5K now, and you won't find another car, same class, same level of kit for less money. And they're reliable if you drive it properly and service it. In more than 2 years, never had any fault with it except from having to reset the steering rack parameters, absolutely no problems with electrics, not starting or anything needing replacement. Lovely cars, go for it!

      TigerVlad84 I had a 2.5 Sport and thought it was poor. Cheap interior, noisey engine, too much road and wind noise, gutless engine and numb steering. Notchy gear change. Rubbish seats. Bose speakers were very, very poor. Keyless entry system failed and gave me endless problems. Paint finish was awful and car rusted as soon as stone chipped. Not a premium car at all, just a poor, cheap imitation of one. My brother-in-law has one and has same problems and he dislikes his too. Won't buy another Mazda.

      Face-lift cars post 2010 diesels seem to be less compromised than the earlier models. Mine is a 2012 model, subject to a Mazda recall for timing chain. Mazda also updated the software to monitor crank / cam deviation and thus report chain stretch. They're oil fussy, you must use acea c1 rated oil. I've dropped my oil change intervals to 6000 miles rather than the 12,500 mazda suggests

      Most Japanese car makers distribute very different models for EU and US customers. It can't be that difficult to offer the same models across the world surely?

    Ibought a nice looking 61 plate. The paint quality is shocking so expect to repaint the bonnet wings and roof yes I said roof that's how bad it gets. The timing chain had stretched (2.2 sport) £1000 then 2 months in it left me stranded on the M25 when the Alternator decided to burn it's self out. £450 I replaced all the disks and pads £120 Don't even think about taking it to a dealer at £100 ph robbing bastards.For disks and pads they quoted £450 lol it took me not even 2 hrs for all 4 wheels.Auto light sensor is shit so Zenons pretty much stay on all the time, Mazda £100 just to look at it. no thanks. and loud injector knock when cold ok when warm. Sold a Peugeot 407HDI with 142k on the clock, i did 70k in 6yrs and never had any issues like this! Beware

      1. All main dealers charge outrageous money.
      2. What's the issue with the Zenons remaining on, driving with lights on is a good thing.
      3. I've heard Peugeot's have awful handling.

      Get hold of FORCAN and an OBD - USB adapter. Run the injector calibration service procedure. You must use ACEA C1 or JASO DL-1 oil.

    Why you don't tell us that because of DPF it is a not family car anymore, rather motorway car. DPF system is flawed on this car, you will have diesel mixed into engine oil in no time and I don't think the engine will last. You should mention this things in you review

    • @paulanderson79
      @paulanderson79 5 лет назад

      I've been driving DPF cars on and off since 2001. So far I've had no problems with them. Possibly just luck.

    @donmakavelli786 Ye, well, Honda Accord or Toyota Avensis are still better cars, especially in terms of interior quality, which is where you spend 99% of the time, AND, they cost less. Mazda 6 is more expensive that rivals like Honda Accord, Opel / Vauxhall Insignia, Renault Laguna, Ford Mondeo etc, and its not really better than any of those.

    Too bad they didn’t make ANY automatics

    • @paulanderson79
      @paulanderson79 6 лет назад +1

      There was an automatic available on the 2.0 petrol models but only in a few select trim levels. The petrol engines, however, are spineless compared to the very lively 2.2 diesel units. Shame Mazda didn't see fit to mate the auto 'box to the later 2.2d 180PS model.
