I don’t know if Bungie will ever release a real Destiny 3. If the leaks are correct then Final Shape will be the last expansion on last gen consoles, which also could translate to that the episodes won’t come to last gen either. Also, the leaks talked about Bungie wanting to add the entirety of Destiny 1 at least in terms of locations and gear, and possibly most big activities in D2. This means they could also reissue all content that is in the DCV at that point.
This could mean that with ditching last gen they could do such a massive engine overhaul (which could be what the D3 rumors are really talking about), that they may do some sort of rebranding to announce a true new start for Destiny 2, where the old story doesn’t really have any importance anymore and Bungie can have a proper new start where they can sell the game to new people, without the need to release an actual new game. Existing players may already have gear, but everyone starts at the same spot in the story without pre-existing FOMO, with the option to be able to play all old (single-player) content and (easily) earn (all) old gear, which would interest even more people to start playing Destiny 2 (or whatever they have renamed it to at that point).
I fully agree with Watts's point about how they need the raid, and following sentiment from the cast here. Makes me want to speculate there will be two raids......
I think the grind of get multiple copies of a weapon then level it up which sounds like it would be fun took a lot of the bang out of the "god roll" hunt

1:12:50 there are also the people that DO want to raid, but dont have friends to do it with and arent comfortable using LFG to play with strangers. I get crippling anxiety just running simple strikes, there's absolutely no way in hell I'm LFGing a Raid with 5 other people that I need to talk too. Not a chance.

I was interested in No Rest for the wicked until I found out it was early access. I mean I have faith in them but I'm not interested in playing a portion of a game then waiting. I'll wait until it's fully out before picking it up.

Lets be real here. The number of people that have full time jobs that are doing a day 1 raid race is like .. 3 .. Total. The Raid Race is for the Twitch Streamers that literally dont do anything except play Destiny 20 hours every day.

(Most) People who have full time jobs rarely have time to play, let alone do a hardcore activity like a day one raid. I tried it for Garden .. never again lol. So I agree, the raid race is definitely for the top tier players only who are primarily streamers.
