- In a week that's seen the creative disaster of Rebel Moon Part 2, and the commercial disaster of Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, we ask if Deadpool 3 might be one of the few movies to actually make money this year. Join me, MauLer, Disparu, The Movie Cynic and Echo Chamberlain at the Bar!

To Warhammer 40K fans: Do not negotiate with terrorists. Do not give the mouse the cookie. It will never stop
@@zogwort1522 Well, darn. You have convinced this sympathetic outsider to walk away.
@@zogwort1522 It’s still tragic for the ones that have been with it for decades. If they remember before the horrible stuff, it’s kinda like the pain of nearly all fans of nearly all IP’s now. You love something, but the people who own it ruin it in front of you while cackling maniacally at your pain. But I agree that no one should keep giving money to scum like that
@@zogwort1522 I hate how right you are.
Dan Abnet has sold out. I believe he's their top author
Walmart-Hammer 40K
In the first Suicide Squad AT LEAST that bar exposition scene is motivated by the fact that they just had a big revelation on the nature of the mission, everyone's pissed, they want to quit, argue, and Harley is pretend psychoanalyzing them and calling out everyone's bullshit while making drinks. As meh as it is, you can argue the scene has a reason to exist
Rebel Moon just goes "we need to tell our backstories now, I'll go first".
It's not "how much coal does the Dreadnought need?", but rather a question of "Where does the oxygen for the combustion comes from in space?"
Exactly. You would run out of oxygen or run out of coal in a day after leaving any planet, never mind how the hell would you vent all that smoke and soot.
Futurama was satire not a blueprint.
Silence you pesky rebel rousing truther 😂
Its special oxygenated space coal?
From the life support systems. Which are powered by the energy released from the coal by using up that oxygen. It's a power strip plugged into itself, with extra steps. A *lot* of extra steps.
Critz, and Mauler are basically my Siskel and Ebert now.
Yeah?
@@MegaSpideyman yes.
Statler and Waldorf
Who's Critz?
@@fesuard Joseph Critzvowitz. You wouldn't know him
I was expecting Snyder to borrow from other sci-fi properties. I didn’t expect him to borrow from the comedy genre, but there’s no mistaking the Knights Who Say ‘Ni’ aesthetic.
You must bring me a….shubbery !
@@ronsmith8424One that looks nice!
Need a lightsaber in the shape of.... A HERRING!
I liked the opening facts bit, some chill fun to start out the show! :D
It's my year too, 92 was awesome for films
This is a really good crew, great chemistry
Yep.
I honestly thought they were taking the piss when they said the spaceship was run by coal. WTF Zack.
Far flung future, ship tech from the civil war.
Maybe they need the coal engines and the smoke (spiced up with some space ganja) to keep the interdimensional god drowsie, drug it up, so they can use his powers to travel space through the vagina wormholes.
Congrats on 2 million subs, well deserved! Now sit down and binge watch BANSHEE you will love it!
The only way to see more nudity than is in Banshee is to watch porn. Awesome show!
Watched all of Banshee last year, thought it was pretty good. Though the series didn't properly grab me until Kurt Bunker showed up, best character.
I got Cinemax for that and another military show, Getback? Payback?, I can’t remember the name but it was guns, violence and sex too. Cinemax was good for that.
@@thechicagoboxStrike Back?
What do you think of IRON REIGN on Netflix ???
Nothing like an Open Bar re-upload on a Sunday night!!! Very good stuff it was.
54:05 is when Drinker celebrates 2 million milestone!
Have Dan Vasc to see Sisquo’s The Thong Song to celebrate - proving he is sooooooo ghey
I'd pay real money for a dvd commentary of Rebel Moon (all 12) with these guys and Zack Snyder recording it together.
I'd take side by side. People are more likely to be conciliatory when communicating directly.
I don't want Drinker and co. To hold back and I don't want Snyder to dial back his narcissism
They should contact Rifftrax. That's exactly what they do without infringing copyright. The cross over would be great for all.
The closest i came to watching Rebel Moon 2 was Disparu's review😅. Hell I didnt even finish watching the first one.🤣 Thanks for taking one for the team!❤
I can only imagine the disbelief that old school producers and directors would have knowing that 100s of millions would be spent on absolute drek in the 2020s.
Rebel Moon is what happens when someone explains WH40K to a normie whilst both people are Glasgow levels of drunk and 1 of them thinks they're talking about Star Wars
Love the history revisit intro. Great way to start things rolling.
Can’t wait for ‘94. Definitely a top contender for the best year in human history… seriously.
Yes, bad shit happened, but the western world was at the peak of living in a very distorted bubble of peace and prosperity.
A space god taking offerings of coal? Sure, let's go with that.
Yeah… nothing can save the MCU. There might be a couple decent offerings, but you can’t save a rotting corpse, especially when most of the other people involved are still stomping on said corpse. In the five years since Endgame, I liked No Way Home and mostly liked Guardians 3.
5 years. Wow.
Even if they made, like, five or six films that were decent, which is never gonna happen, I heavily doubt it's gonna save the MCU. It's too fucked, with so many inconsistencies, world breaking and infestation of things that never needed to exist like stakes that got bigger and bigger rather than be something normal and ground level. A reboot seems logical but even then it's in dire straits.
Another really nice panel; Disparu and Echo are always very listenable.
"Gatekeep the shit out of your hobby!", well said my man.
Damn this panel was almost perfect -- missing only The Little Platoon!
I like this setup, especially appreciated the factual & deep contributions from Echo Chamberlain.
Could you start adding timestamps?
55:00 The beginning of The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, conversation.
One thing that bothered me the most is how Kara kills all the medical workers on the ship trying to save their lives proving she is still a vicious villain. She didn’t even fight her brainwashing to NOT kill the princess ! And only regretted it afterwards ! This should be called BROWN HARVEST as a rip off of Blue Harvest
She had zero problem killing a child princess, the medics and the slaves but somehow considered it too far to kill the big bad guy.
I will say of Rebel Moon, a lot of the stuff looked kinda cool. The tanks, the guns, some of the ships, had kind of a cool aesthetic.
I know that hardly redeems it, but it does occasionally give us some cool images.
I can agree, at times it does look cool. Then they start talking and it falls apart so fast.
Don't care if DP3 is the best movie ever made, Disney aren't getting my money. Fuck them.
Also congrats on 2m Drinker! Well deserved!
I’m split and normally it’s a no brainer.
And keep in mind that Bush throwing up was so funny that it was mentioned in the Simpsons during the good seasons.
Someone should make a skit where two guys go into Snyders office when he is writing a new script and one guy gets him in a a full Nelson while the other throws his laptop across the room and you see it smashing in slow motion.
Big congratulations on hitting 2 million boys. Well deserved. Keep up the excellent work we love ya
#1: Rebel Moon 2 is an embarrassment of a movie.
#2: MOUW was an ok action movie that felt like an Inglorious Bastard rip-off.
#3: Deadpool and Wolverine feels like a love letter to the fans 5 years to late; but it will still be box-office gold. 🎉
I guess you kind of have to admire these gentlemen talking for over an hour about a movie no one else saw and still maintaining an audience doing it.
50:16 - Clannad?! Now the Aussie is a man of culture, I see.
1:23:45 It's wild to think that one movie is somehow going to undo the rot inflicted over several years of mid-to-trash movies and storytelling. Their overall reputation is tarnished (to put it mildly) and people aren't going to just flock to the cinema after one good movie.
The MCU needs a reboot, not a single movie fix.
A reboot, multiple films that are good, a focus that doesn't fuck up their world building and get rid of the dreck, the woke infestation and the sub par horrible bad producers and shit. But unless they do an Elon Musk Twitter clearance the MCU, hell the entire Disney company, won't change its heading.
Any time Maully does a stuckman impression, i laugh myself into a heart attack.
2:08:00
Christ i couldn't stop laughing referencing peak simpsons. When Willy takes off his shirt he's JACKED haha.
God i miss that show. Deep cuts boys
*Grease me up woman!!!"
maybe its not coal it's Nibbler's poop from futurama
If cinemas want to survive … they should just show old movies. Imagine .. a cinema chooses to show ‘Predator’ .. or ‘galaxy quest’ … they’d pack the place. They have a massive history of movies to show.
Some are already doing that, the smart ones at least. If anyone still thinks current day HW is gonna putt buts in cinema seats they deserve to go bankrupt.
I’m watching Commando at the Cineworld in Nottingham tonight! Saw Predator there 3 weeks ago and the place was packed!👍🏻
@@gusty9053Yeah, our local had Titanic on 3 months ago, while The Phantom Menace is on for Star Wars Day and for a few days after and Saving Private Ryan is on for the D-Day anniversary.
I went to see Abigail on Friday (new movie), but then i went to see The Mummy, Alien, The Matrix and then Spider-Man 3 the next 3 days. It was magnificent.
2:36:51 - Mickey screwed up with his neck tattoos! He had his artist put "LOKI" on his neck without clearing it with the producers/director. They knew Loki was going to be the Big Bad (Mickey didn't), so they had to CGI the tattoo every time it showed. But it was on his front right of his neck, which meant they had to do a *lot* of CGI!
Regarding Batman & Penguin, Danny DeVito will always be my Penguin.
The choice of younger actors to play Superheros is getting thinner and thinner, men are being pushed to become effeminate with low-T, look at The Flash it's disgusting, they have to use the older guys, no one will replace them eventually sadly.
Pattinson wouldn't even work out and bulk up for Batman, they had to pad out the suit so that he looked at least somewhat built. Bale;on the other hand, jumped into that sh!+,and ended up looking harder than a coffin nail. If I watch a Conan movie I want the guy playing Conan to look
like a big slab of testosterone injected beef, and NOT like Timothy Chalamet, who looks like he weighs about the same as Conan's broadsword, ffs.
Facts don't care about your feelings:
We want Facts!
WW2 movies I like:
Das Boot
Down Fall
Unfortunately it is more often the opposite. Feelings are much more important than facts to the majority of people.
@@erichtomanek4739. Watch “The Cockleshell Heroes” and “The Dam Busters”. These are two of my favorites
@@erichtomanek4739 Das Boot the extended miniseries version. Damn, it made me learn how to play Silent Hunter 3 with realism mods and all that. ;)
Having not seen Rebel Moon 2, the funniest part is that it doesn't even sound like they're describing a coherent line of thought while they're talking about it.
I've seen Disparu's detailed reviews, and it's basically like 7 Samurai/Magnificent Seven, except with the bad guys forgetting for a while WHY they had wanted to go to the village, lol. And it is indeed done in an incoherent way.
When Drinker asked what the name of the Admiral in Rebel Moon was I was really hoping somebody would say “Francis”.
Or Jagen Hagar
Regarding two timelines. That's what I felt when I watched 24 season 2, where Kim Bauer rescues a child from her abusive father, and is on the run from both him and the police department. That plot line has nothing to do with anything, and feels forced in cause Cuthbert probably had a contract, and they had to come up with something for her to do. They take care of that in the third season by having her working at CTU.
Mel brooks do a comedy with Ann Bancroft about world War 2.
Yeah, To Be Or Not To Be, which was a remake of a movie (of the same name) that was actually made during the war.
2:27:00 No, even the coal-fired spaceship in Rebel Moon 2 was not original. Farscape had a starship powered by a boiler. On screen, the owner was shovelling dolls into it to burn, but it was very clearly established that it runs on just whatever combustible crap you might have on hand, including coal. Even in Farscape, it didn't really work very well (was a low point of the series), but it still mostly worked, due to Farscape's tone. It doesn't even slightly work here.
They needed to ferment the grain from the planet to get the ship to go faster.
The problem is - it's not even a Big Mac with truffle oil! It's the plastic version which they use to make commercials! It has no taste, no substance and no sustenance. It's literally an illusion - a poor imitation - with a bunch of different stolen assets from a bunch of different movies... like a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle where every single piece is from a different jigsaw. He then puts it together with a hammer smashing the pieces into place and then goes "LOOK! ART!"... It's INSANE that people are still giving him money to produce this trash!
You could say the same to Disney Marvel and Star Wars. IT IS BAFFLING!
@@Langley_Ackerman19It's a deliberate deconstruction of our mores,customs,traditions,
morals and values:where do we learn these concepts? Through storytelling. Eliminate them from modern media and you eliminate any hope for a decent society, and replaced it with one where anarchy, chaos,
decadence and depravity rule.
Disney isn't hiring directors;they're recruiting activists, they're not passing the torch;they're torching the past. Welcome to the Fourth Reich, all of these woke movies,TV shows, video games and comic books are the 21st century version of Triumph Of The Will;Leni Riefenstahl would be proud.
The Stuckman impressions LOL LOL. Dead on.
Pretty random and old but would love to see the movie, "Time Bandits" discussed.
Ironic of drinker to say Ryan can repeat a joke one too many times when he has a lot of videos of tyrion puking meme played 20 times PER VIDEO. Took him long enough to realize that shit gets old real fast when you overplay it.
Eh I wouldn't say those are compatible
Joss Whedon should have written and directed Rebel Moon. He would have done amazing sci-fi with that budget!
Maulers silly voice at the very beginning just made me think "damn... get Professor Tosspot back on" hehehe
Yeah? Are you ready for Chuck Tingle's overwhelming homoeroticism?
Ikr? He had some health issues then dropped off RUclips for some time, then reappeared with an update, did a couple more videos and then just stopped again I guess;I haven't seen any more content from him since.
Schindler's List is the most ridiculous, unrealistic fiction to ever be put on screen. That atrocity of a film did more damage to the public's understanding of history than Captain Marvel did to the MCU. Hearing these guys praise it is severely disappointing.
1:52:50 totally agree blood meridian should be left on the pages, and their passage he references here is the stuff of nightmares
Grain aficionados of the world unite!
Iron man 2 is when the Skrulls swapped out Rodey but you were all too racist to notice.
I barely even REMEMBER Iron Man 2, tbh.
XD XD XD
Regarding the coal powered ship. That's so crazy, I don't think even Terry Gilliam would come up with that, but then again maybe he would. 🙂
Nobody has DAS BOOT as one of their favorite WW2 films? Surprising. Clint’s films, Where Eagles Dare and Kelly’s Heroes are guilty pleasures too
Why guilty ?. Both are good fun movies. Kelly's Heroes gave us some great characters and great lines.
Another classic 😂 congratulations on 2 Million Drinker
Sh!t I remember 1992, and everything you guys said brings back memories. Geeze, Thanks, guys. Best thing about that year was Last of the Mohicans, Just Saying...
Jeez how old were you then? I was born in that year, in fact this month specifically. Man that decade was probably the last good decade, maybe second last for good entertainment.
I still don't fully understand that film.
@@RhysCallinan-cq5reI turned 17 in '92. 😂😂😂
Don’t forget the robot is just the robot and character from transformers combined. The robot was a ninja and protected people etc. same robot just with his voice
You guys should do a watch party comparison of ‘Battle beyond the stars’ and ‘rebel moon’.
I watch these guys to find out what bad shows/films I shouldn't waste my time on. The dilemma is, when they have these in-depth discussions, I wind up having to watch the bad show/film so as to appreciate what they're talking about.
Best performance by a WWF/WWE star is Rowdy Roddy Piper in They Live. End of story.
I have a They Live poster signed by him to me, saying "kick ass and chew bubblegum" 😎 prized possession 😊
Zack Snyder might have stolen the idea of coal shoveling. I vaguely remember that there was a Star Trek gag reel that had Scotty shoveling like mad. So, Snyder's important concept is a gag that Star Trek only filmed for the studio crew.
2:06:00 Drinker: "we've been conditioned to expect visual spectacle" that, my friends, is why every movie has to cost 250,000,000 😢
Yep;Circus Maximus,keep the plebs distracted,stupid and happy.
I've not read it, but there's a science fiction novel called: The Wooden Spaceships.
and
In Isaac Asimov's Foundation series, didn't some of the remnants of empire use coal to power their spaceships and the Foundation were held in awe as they used nuclear power?
Almost like "The Road Not Taken" by Harry Turtledove. Although that's even more low-tech (kinda)
I can't wait for Snyder to make a film that's 100% in slow-mo.
6 h long.
@@batboy555 The theatrical release, sure.
The Snyder cut would be at least 12 h

The reboot Stark Trek movies were far better than the Rebel Moon garbage.
Revenge Of The Sith>>>>>>>Modern Star Trek movies and Rebel Moon films
To be honest that's a low bar to clear.
Yeah and they sucked @$$ -
Look kids,it's Star Trek:not your grandpa's Star Trek,we're cool, hip and edgy Star Trek:
Young Captain Kirk steals and totals a car, while we blare out

I watched the first two, more because my friend wanted to see them, but I noped out on the third one - I like most of the actors in those movies, just not as those cinematic characters.
It wasn’t coal they are shoveling. It’s Niblers poop from futurama
please discuss "Shogun" !!!!!!!!
The visuals of Rebel Moon remind me of Serenity and Firefly. Maybe this is one movie series where Joss Whedon would have been the better choice
The only word that ever truly matters ...... 2:11:58 😅😅😅
That was quite a line!
@@MegaSpideyman It's Amazing 😊
I've always wondered, and please help me if there is, is there a movie where the protagonist is tricked by the baddies into working for them where there's little or no clue that he or she is working for the baddies? I've seen ones where the audience can see the screw job coming. I just think it could be interesting to write a movie or show where you truly believe they are the good guys until the evil reveal. TIA.
If I told you, you'd know :)
There've been episodes of Star Trek, Black Mirror, and The Outer Limits which go into that kind of thing. All were cringe as I remember (no subtlety at all).
They aren't trying to blow up a U-Boat. Makes me crazy when a reviewer doesn't pay attention to what they are watching, then they review it.
1:33:54
There definitely are movies that are worth paying extra to see in a theater. Godzilla Minus One got my wife and I out to the theater for the first time in more than two years, partially because word-of-mouth about it was positive, and partially because it looked like a worthwhile spectacle.
Good openers today! Some pre game drinking to open the bar.
I wish, like _REALLY_ wish, we could have seen more of her in her Cleopatra costume 😭
"U-Ship?" oof!
23:12 "Admiral Whateverthefuck his name is" 😂
Unfair. Rory Kinnear was OK as Churchill. Everyone knew who he was supposed to be. He's a solid performer, just like his dad.
Zach got the idea for the coal powered ship from Red Dwarf: he didn't understand the opening line in the opening theme and thought "coaled outside..."
Lol nice
Dune 2 has crossed 700mil
🎉 Congrats on reaching 2.000.000! 🎊 - Cheers! 😎🥃
lol the New Zealander playing down Dune for LOTR...wonder why xD
Apparently conveyors are too high tech so they have to rely manual shoveling.
1:33:25 - I tend to only visit independent cinemas to watch Japanese/Eastern releases. Western cinema died for me at least half a decade ago.
I stopped paying for TV licence due to unwanted political messaging, I certainly don't want it when it pay directly for it.
I love the mixing of Science Fiction and Fantasy elements in worldbuilding. However, from what I've seen of Rebel Moon, the world does not feel like a fantasy world that developed space tech like Spelljammer or a science fiction world that unearthed fantasy elements like Warhammer 40k, it feels like a kid mashing fantasy and space toys together. I have a similar, if significantly less severe, criticism towards Final Fantasy 15's worldbuilding. It wants to have a world where magic and monsters are seen as normal, but the Americana elements of Southwest Diners and Gas Stations directly clash with that. How do people stopping at an unprotected gas station not get mauled by the Dinosaurs across the street? It's just two surface-level aesthetics crossed together.
Scenes regurgitating earlier, better films tend to be DEI screenwriters who haven't paid their dues, learned their "craft" reading TVtropes, and haven't the slightest idea what they're doing.
Cheers
upon watching Zack Snyder's 300 again, i saw there were endless fields of grain in that movie as well, in several scenes, i thought there were but had to confirm, guess he has a thing for grain, kinda think there are grain fields in his superman movies too.
TBH Deadpool being a little too much and slightly annoying sometimes is entirely on brand. And its that over the top annoying edge that gives extra weight when he lets down the walls and is serious and real. That literally IS the character. Ryan Reynolds plays him near perfectly.
Chris stuckman already betrayed his " won't talk about bad movies" thing because he did a Godzilla x kong review
To be or not to be the mel brooks movie
I'd f!@$ with that. 😂👍
Mauler is very charming.
Great show. Unfortunately Nerdrotic is hard to listen to when he has Ryan Kinnel on. The guy says the F-word non stop, sometimes twice in one sentence. It’s a bit much.
Prayers for TKD Guy.
