Used to be my daily driver. It was an automatic and the engine was indeed surprisingly musical when you put it in sport mode on the on ramp. I'd say it's more of a sleeper than true sports car.
I just bought a black 2012 accord coupe v6. so sexy, not too common on the road, good power, good fuel economy on the highway, good trunk space, good reliability, good price, good resale value, great interior features, and great enjoyability. I cant ask for anything better. this car gives you the bang for your buck!
I bought the 2012 LX Sports Coupe last October and haven't looked back since. Great car and a great ride. Mine is only the four cylinder (which is what I specifically wanted), but still find it peppy and fun to drive across town or on long road trips....great gas mileage on the highway too.
the reviewer in the vid is awesome. i really just like that style. i'm sick and tired of overly pushy, arrogant, ignorant, biased reviewers. but this guy here is none of that. subscribed.
Accords don't die... I had a 93 accord and drove the shit out of it for a year and a half with over 500,000kms on it. In the end the sub frame rusted out, but it was the best $300 I ever spent :)
I think people with "real" sports cars like the Mustang (or buttstain as I call it) get a little jelly with this Accord coupe. I just bought a 2012 V6 AT and really love the car. I traded my 08 V6 coupe for this 2012. (08 had body issues) This car is fantastic for everyday, all year (i live near Michigan), back and forth driving. And it looks great while doing it. I don't race anyone in it although it is pretty quick, its just fun to drive everyday.
+aayonce4 The difference in power is one thing but the V6 is so smooth, you don't even know it's running while idling. The 2012 has paddle shifters which Honda calls Sequential Shift mode; some think it's sport, but there is nothing sport about the paddle shifters. The paddle shifter does not shift immediately, the transmission seeks the right RPM after you tap the (+ paddle) or (- paddle). But if you launch from a stop, you still want to be in S mode. Not because it gives more power (it does not have more torque or HP in S mode) but because auto can sometimes shift early. If you like you enjoy your 08 Accord you will continue that feeling with the 2012..
+Austin Butler How do you like it? if you don't mind saying, how much did you pay for it with how many miles? I currently drive a 01 accord EX-L v6 with 285,500 miles at the moment. I plan on buying a 2010-2014 accord coupe v6, do you think a used coupe with 60k+ miles is reliable?
+Al Pacino yes these days mileage isn't really a factor as these cars are built more efficiently .. Also Hondas are known for their reliability you should know with yours still running strong! And FYI I decided to stick with my '08 til I can save up for a brand new one.
I would also like to add my mother's 2008 Ford Taurus is pushing almost 100K and has not required any maintenance at all beyond oil changes and tire rotation. Over the lifetime of my 2002 Grand Marquis it only required an alternator and ball joints (where I live, the roads are terrible.) The kind of problems that the not-so-great Fords from the 90s had were the AXOD transaxle, flaky electronics, and the 3.8's bimetallic head gasket failing. Ford has really cleaned up their act in that regard.
That’s an ongoing issue that has now ensnared millions of Honda vehicles and in 2011 helped drive Honda’s tally so high that it recalled more vehicles than any other manufacturer operating in the U.S. market.
It’s the third safety-related service action since just the beginning of February and the fourth since the beginning of 2012. The numbers are relatively small, all told the various recalls impacting less than 50,000 vehicles. But they come quick on the heels of some decidedly more serious problems, including the December recall of 273,000 Honda and Acura products due to potentially defective airbag inflators.
Next level of executive jobs will require to have a 5 series BMW or a Grand Marquis which aren’t sports coupes, which means I still get to keep the Genesis Coupe. It serves more than enough practicality for starting families just like the Accord coupe but unlike the Accord, the Genesis's performance is unmatched to any Accord that has ever been built. If you are a Accord fan you might remember how you first fell in love with it, just need to get to know the car well.
I tested nissan Altima, bmw 328 and mercedez c300..but somehow it didnt click..i tried the accord sedan but didnt' like it...but when i tested the coupe v6...wowoow..love it..so i bought the v6 with navi...
Back in 2006 the previous generation Civic was released and Comsumer Reports gave it a score of 78, six years later the 2012 Civic only managed an overall score at 61. Other Honda models like the Honda Odyssey have also declined in competitiveness. The Odyssey went from a 91 in 2005 to an overall score of 83 points. Two of Honda's hybrids are far from recommended, the CR-Z and Insight."
For the 2013 model, the Honda Civic will have a CVT. So as much as people complain how ugly the new rear end design is, at least it has a convetional transmission.
@Xcorgi That's funny, the 2008-2010 accords originally had problems with premature brake pad wear within 20,000 miles on the pads. Not dissing Honda but they have their weeks points as well
Mustangs are just such an iconic/classic image over here.. I would personally NEVER get a Mustang, but when you look at the numbers it's a great car, the base model has a good V6 w/ around 300 hp for the price of a 2.0t Gen. Coupe(2012) which is 210 hp.. and they've really improved from where they used to be.. It's a great deal, but I still prefer the Genesis Coupe XP
I just bought my 2012 Accord EX-L V6 coupe on December 1st, with 53,000 miles on the odometer, and an automatic, a concession to the wife. I really enjoy driving it in Sport mode. The drive-train really seems to wake up that way. I do like just about everything about this car. This is my second Accord EX V6 and my 6th Honda overall. HOWEVER, as far as quality is concerned, I do have to say that the interior has more rattles in it than my 91 CRX Hf did when it had 200,000+ miles on its clock, or any of my other Civics, all of which had well over 100,000 miles on them when they left my possession. The rattles are a HUGE disappointment. I'd like to say that I could 'cover up' the rattles by turning the sound system up, but I can't, most of the rattling emanates from the package tray where the subwoofer and it's companions reside. The passenger door also has an annoying rattle. I could just say I was a bit unfortunate, but, I think not. My '06 EX V6, which I leased when it had 2 miles on it, rattled and squeaked ceaselessly from the dashboard and had me questioning Honda's commitment towards excellence. I took that car in several times for that problem and they could never really solve the issue. As it was a leased car, I ultimately left my tools in the tool box and turned the car in. My 2012 is mine, so hopefully I can solve the issues. BUT, other than that, I do LOVE driving it. Honda still does get the good stuff done really well.
My back speaker dash rattles especially with the stock sub-woofer and it drives me nuts. Also, Honda calls the (S) Sequential Shift mode, not Sport mode. I'm not impressed with the paddle shifters myself. The transmission does not shift immediately but after maybe 500 ms to a full second. I love my 2012 and hope you enjoy yours. It's just a very well rounded ride for the price tag.
Also, I will disconnect with stock sub-woofer and install a couple small packed 8 inch subs. I use the stock sub-woofer wires as a signal for my amp. I did this in my 08 Accord and it worked out pretty well.
+Robert D. How is the reliabilty on it so far? i have 01 accord EX-L v6 with 285,500 miles and plan on buying a new car in the future. Most likely will be a 2010-2014 accord coupe v6. Would you recommend me buying one with more than 70k miles? or stick with a used coupe less than 50k miles?
+Al Pacino I had my 08 for a little over two years with nothing but oil changes needed. Traded that for a 2012, but have only the 2012 for 8 or 9 months with 1 oil change so far. My wife has an 08 sedan i4 just tapping on 100k, and have it for 4 or 5 years now without an issue. Her 4 door has never been to the shop for any troubleshooting the entire time we've owned it.
+Al Pacino - That's is just my experience with these Hondas. Your experience may differ. If you do not have a car payment and can comfortably afford a car payment, I'd purchase as new as you can get with the least amount of miles. That will help your resale value if you decide to let it go.
only one problem. Had you had any rattle issues with the V-6 with the stick? My dad has the same car in black with the black interior and without the navigation. Any suggestions to the problem?
I love the Accord. Honda should really consider desining a Accord Convertible in the future im absolutely shore that it would really boost their profits. The modern, younger generations like flashy cars at reasonable prices that Honda both provides and maintaines over the years "They grow in quality, and safety but never in price". Honda continues to produce quality cars that last over 30-40 years with respective owners. Parents would love to give their respectible children reliable vehicles.
we have a 04 Toyota camary that we bought brand new. Its been well over 8 years, though this is its last since im moving to the states and will buying a honda :D
Idk Undestand why people say id buy it if iw as RWD ITS NOT A sports car It wasent designed to be It WILL NEVER be. There main focus Since HOnda Began was reliable ECONOMICAL As possible And Practical EVERY day Driver car. I don't understand is whats with these Mustang comments.
@MrSchmekker Do you know how hard it is just to find one? I go to dealerships and if I even want to see a stick car they have to specially request one and hunt it down. I really don't understand why it's so difficult to find. Of course the more performance oriented cars have stick here but the average cars everyone drives are really only offered in auto.
Yeah I'm torn between this and the Gen. Coupe 2.0(2012).. The Gen. Coupe looks so much better, but this offers ALOT more in practicallity.. ALOT of trunk/back space.. It's hard to argue with all the space lmao, and idk about the look, I'd say it looks pretty aggressive.. but I guess it's all preference
when I was in the market for the coupe, I compared Honda coupe and Altima coupe. I feel altima coupe has more sportier appealing although many car reviewers give honda coupe little bit better than altima coupe because of the different performance and other specs. But at the end I went with altima coupe plus it was vote one of the best consumer cars.
@@astefanik16 It had 70k miles. I've put 20k on it in the past 9 months. Absolutely no problems, yet. Bought it on Carvana. The base stereo is awesome, although I replaced the head with a touch screen.
I don't think any car company is doing really bad these days. They're all selling just fine. This isn't 2008. Toyota 's sales have advanced 16% as of 2 days ago, while Honda was only able to muster an increase in Accord sales by stair-stepping and putting incentives in place to close out the old model. Where are you getting your facts from?
And don't accuse me of being a zealot either, I think Honda did a really great job with the 3.5L engine on this car. It is an impressive engine for an Accord. Comparing the Accord with the Mustang is really an apples-and-oranges affair; the Accord is a better choice if you don't want to mod or want FWD due to a Winter climate. The Mustang on the other hand, well, you can order a racing suspension and bolt-on roots supercharger and just obliterate the Accord (yes around corners too!)
Not to say anythin bad about Honda, but the only accord that is worth driving if the v6 that puts out 270 hp, that's actually more than the german luxury cars, 328i coupe, c300 or a a4 that costs the same have in their cars. german cars are rwd cars so it's "soul" is always up, even the old ones with only 150hp are still a blast to drive. hence bmw's "ultimate driving machine"
Actually, Hyundai's depreciation is practically neck-and-neck with Honda these days. Hondas aren't the most reliable cars on the road. They've slid so far down the ladder that they're now in serious trouble. In 2011 alone, Honda had the biggest number of recalled vehicles in the U.S. I had to educate clebrowns78 in another channel. Don't make me do the same to you, dude.
Already did that several times. For instance, 2011 Tucson ($19,000) vs 2011 Honda CRV (22,500). Current Kelley trade-in value for Tucson = $15,812 Current Kelly trade-in value for CR-V = $17,577 Depreciation for Tucson = $3433 Depreciation for CR-V = $4923 And the Tucson beat the SR-V in almost every head-to-head comparison. One example of many. What a joke!
Honda website categorize Accord Coupe as a master-piece sports coupe, which is like a marketing strategy to cheat people and attract performance minded crowd. Once you start to test drive I got ass whooped by the massive torque steer and the freaking understeer (271hp to front wheels, who so my god) ALSO it's still a Coupe, as well as the Genesis Coupe. I really have no clue how someone could possibly not take you serious because you're driving a Genesis Coupe [are you kidding ? :(
Oct 3rd = "Honda recalls 600,000 Accords in Canada and U.S." Oct 5th = "Honda recalling 820,000 Civic compacts and Pilot SUVs because headlights can fail Wow! One million, four hundred thousand cars recalled in the space of 2 days! And yet Honda is supposedly the "most reliable brand." Here's a tip for the kids. Resale value and depreciation is based on perception without burden of proof. It's why Honda still maintains a (relatively) good resale value despite sucking so badly for years.
People forget how this works! Go out on the street and look for a susuki or Hyundai or any other except Toyota cars that have well over 8 years and give me a call. This type of cars are ment to last. Any other might be good for a year or two but then get ready to look for another one.
Then why would you comment that? If you knew he wasn't saying that the cars are superior, just because they are expensive, then why would you comment something that pointless? I'd suggest just deleting your comment.
If you bought the 328 or C300 you would spend more time in the shop anyway watching it get fixed again and again and having a Honda you will have trouble free driving for years to come
Reality is everyone backing up my claim, from MSN Autos, to TheCarConnection, to TheTorqueReport, to AutoInformed. The list goes on and on. You obviously can't discern the difference between reality and fantasy.
He's not saying the BMW and Mercedes are better just because they are expensive. He is saying that the driving in BMW and MB are superior to the Honda, except in pricing.
I would go Honda all the way... just a much more beautiful car... I'd wait a while though, the 2013 Altima looks much better(dunno about the coupe) and the 2013 accord ( I like the styling on 12 accord more..)
Good car, but over $32,000++ is a lot of money for that car. It is pushing into Acura/Infiniti territory for the money and with out many of the standard features that come built into the Acura and Infinity league for the same money. It would be a hard economic argument to buy the Accord over the Infiniti G37 coupe.
Cont. Parents worry every day of the dangers their children have to go daily. Whether it be bullying, deceise, toxins, or natural disaster it's so much that weights people down. The genuine ability to provide your young ones with such a prestigious, protective, respectible vehicle that their decendents can be safe in is such a great privelidge. Therefore I rest my case of how Honda should make a "Accord Coupe Convertible". -One Sexy Car And I always forget how to spell deceice or desiese.
im a honda/toyota guy too, but honda isnt close to toyota as far as reliability. Honda has transmission, window motor, numerous sensor, and relay problems. while the most ive seen go bad on toyotas are door handles, and rarely relays.
MaestroDraven, you don't even want to start digging into other US companies' recalls of late...not to mention Ford's "fire risk" recalls. These Honda recalls aren't anything to do with reliability!! Get your info straight!
I have this car. Pricey with so many stuff that you have to buy as optional and with most car coming standard as being the highest model. Audio system sucks imo
How does the point of origin have anything to do with the validity of recalls? You're saying that it only matters if they're built on U.S. soil. The fact remains that Honda had MORE recalls than ANYONE this year, even Toyota, which previously held the crown for biggest plunge in overall quality, which is a bonafide, irrefutable, indisputable fact. We can sit here arguing all day about how serious or minor the recalls are. The fact is...they're being recalled.....in DROVES.
and with just a light dusting the Mustang at ANY trim level is in the ditch! Also, the Accord will last with no major repairs well into the 100,000 mile range. The Mustang starts to fuck you much earlier. Rotors, calipers tires etc Thats right, Ford sells pretty much all thier cars with warped rotors. Thats why you can test drive anything they sell and feel the brake pulse when they are brand fucking new! They build in required maintenence in every turd that rolls off the assembly line.
sounds like you care more about the logo in front of the car then the actual car. good luck driving mercs and beamers that run well for the first 3 months.
Oh, so now they're unproven and unreliable. I see. If they were talking GOOD about Honda, you'd be saying, "Yeah, those guys are always spot on, and accurate with their news." You don't have anything except speculation, hearsay and conjecture. I've got facts.... .....in spades. Glad you agree with me.
nope...i just dont like 4 bangers cars...plus there are so many 328 and c class in our area and a friend of mine has a 328 and he have so many problems with it and the repair so expensive....
Maybe not, but it's a clear and obvious example of their lack of quality control. I can see a few recalls here and there for minor things, but not MORE than the very company they're trying to compete against. Whether it's a minor or major recall is of no concern. The quality has gone downhill, to hell in a handbasket. Everyone is saying this, everywhere. The headlines alone speak volumes, all by themselves. Honda needs to step it up, because as of right now, they suck.
"Domestic automaker quality - at least for Ford and General Motors - is reaching near- Toyota levels, according to a recent initial quality study by Michigan-based RDA Group. During the first three months of ownership, Ford and GM placed second and third, respectively, behind Toyota, on a survey of "things gone wrong" during the first three months of ownership in 2009. Honda scored fourth." - Again.....yawn. Done here.

But at the end I went with altima coupe plus it was vote one of the best consumer cars.
I just picked up the big boy.
U got 2012 homda accord coupe? How many miles. I'm looking at some right now but they have higher miles
The Mustang on the other hand, well, you can order a racing suspension and bolt-on roots supercharger and just obliterate the Accord (yes around corners too!)
looks so nice
thats my bayyyybeeeeeee right thereeeeee!!!!!!!!{screams in VTEC}
Is this Good for a be driver?
The cool strut bar? Who the hell is this guy?!
My baby 🚘
The Accord coupe beats the Altima coupe in basically every category. You can look it up if you don't believe me. :P
Accord hands down.
Is it a rear wheel drive???
Already did that several times. For instance, 2011 Tucson ($19,000) vs 2011 Honda CRV (22,500).
Current Kelley trade-in value for Tucson = $15,812
Current Kelly trade-in value for CR-V = $17,577
Depreciation for Tucson = $3433
Depreciation for CR-V = $4923
And the Tucson beat the SR-V in almost every head-to-head comparison. One example of many.
What a joke!
It is a step away from being a sports car. I mean what was honda engineers thinking? If this car was a rear wheel drive, id buy it in a heart beat.
xlThaXrampagelx I totally agree. I own this Accord coupe 2011, and that’s my only complain...it’s not rear wheel drive :(
needs moar V6 manual in the accord sport sedan
Honda website categorize Accord Coupe as a master-piece sports coupe, which is like a marketing strategy to cheat people and attract performance minded crowd. Once you start to test drive I got ass whooped by the massive torque steer and the freaking understeer (271hp to front wheels, who so my god)
ALSO it's still a Coupe, as well as the Genesis Coupe. I really have no clue how someone could possibly not take you serious because you're driving a Genesis Coupe [are you kidding ? :(
did he say 37 mpg on the highway? hes wrong...the coupe is rated at 32 and the sedan 342
2012 Honda Accord or 2012 Nissan Altima???? Help....
@sab0nes what do you mean by that? you mean the desert roads? Anyway driving an automatic car is boring, at least for me. I enjoy gearchanging :D
better looking than the 328 yes. bmws look so ridiculous now when compared to the models from the 90s. but the benz coupe is really smooth looking.
Oct 3rd = "Honda recalls 600,000 Accords in Canada and U.S."
Oct 5th = "Honda recalling 820,000 Civic compacts and Pilot SUVs because headlights can fail
Wow!
GREAT CAR
does the 2012 coupe v6 have vcm??? trying to figure out since i heard that causes tons of problems
Wikipedia says it does NOT when paired w/ the manual transmission
Going to look at one tomorrow, I'll ask about that to confirm if still interested
People forget how this works! Go out on the street and look for a susuki or Hyundai or any other except Toyota cars that have well over 8 years and give me a call. This type of cars are ment to last. Any other might be good for a year or two but then get ready to look for another one.
@KARMASULTRY1 you sure can.. I have one tho .. im 6'2 .. but i will recommend you to wait for the new one!!
Then why would you comment that?
If you knew he wasn't saying that the cars are superior, just because they are expensive, then why would you comment something that pointless?
I'd suggest just deleting your comment.
Also I've been looking at used EX-L V6's and they go for about $23k w/ 10k miles.. IDK about buying used though :/
Mustang = Girls' sweet 16 gift.
It would be a hard economic argument to buy the Accord over the Infiniti G37 coupe.
traded in my 2000 accord ex v6 for a 2012 Suzuki Kizashi SLS AWD CVT MIJ...if honda could only figure out how to make transmissions
-One Sexy Car
And I always forget how to spell deceice or desiese.
And I learned my lesson the hard way. I owned 4.
I love it!!!
@s0nnyburnett Didn't knew that :) So that's the reason. Manual transmission is extra option, haha
@MrSchmekker Cause we don't have any good driving roads like in Germany. Have you seen the mid east and mid west...straight roads.
The Accord is more pretty, cheap, and cheerful than those gray predictable German cars that think they can substitute soul with horsepower.
im a honda/toyota guy too, but honda isnt close to toyota as far as reliability.
Accord.
if you want a sports car, you are looking at the wrong place. Don't regret after doing the mistake.
I want a vibe haha. yeah as for as reliabilty, toyota hands down and no else is close
Lets compare this slow ricer to a Genesis coupe 350hp! :D
sounds like you care more about the logo in front of the car then the actual car. good luck driving mercs and beamers that run well for the first 3 months.
He looks like Paul Rudd
Oh, so now they're unproven and unreliable. I see. If they were talking GOOD about Honda, you'd be saying, "Yeah, those guys are always spot on, and accurate with their news."
You don't have anything except speculation, hearsay and conjecture.
@edbiology My dad helped me get it, he didn't want anything else but Honda. So I had no choice.
@apolloex00 Audio does suck....along with a few other things.
Honda scored fourth."
- Again.....yawn. Done here.
why the americans buy only automatic transmission? of course with some exceptions
for 32 grand, i'd just go with a Mercedes.
wrong wheel drive coupe
I prefer genesis coupe o
