I have always wanted to make these. I'm so glad you made them! Now they're on my list of thing to make over the holidays. Thank you for being part of the collaboration!
My great aunt made these. She used to roll the apple in the cinnamon sugar instead of just in the core before wrapping in the dough. I was a cinnamon hog so she always put extra for me. Loved them almost as much as her apple pie, which was my birthday " cake " of choice!
That sounds like a good idea. I would like the extra flavor.
You can never do much better than a good apple pie 🥧.
Granny smith apples and Jonathan s for me ..i love a tart apple..🍎🍏
YUMMY I LOVE APPLE DUMPLINS
Oh my lady and these look just like the ones Grandma used to make.
that looks good LeAnne will have to try these. Still praying here huge hugs
Well these made my mouth water and I sure wish smell-a-vision was a thing!
Oh my word, I’m salivating. lol my former mother in law from PA used to make the best apple dumplings. Yum!
My favorite apples to eat are Gala and Granny Smith! Granny Smith to bake with!!
Connell Reds are the best eating apple, great for baking too, Wolf River are the best baking or drying apples.
I love that movie! Okay I am drooling. Oh my gosh. I bet your home smelled amazing! Oh my is spot on! Your husband is going to be happy when he gets home! Have a blessed day! Wendy🙏🏻🌎🇺🇸
I love the cat by the window. I am going to make this next weekend when I get more apples.
Thank you! His name is Kitty aka KitKat and he is 6 1/2 years old.
oh my goodness those look so good
Haven't found an apple dumpling I didn't like. They look awesome, good job! Wish I lived closer because I would be knocking on your door.
So good!
Leanne, these look so delicious.
This is another one to try! Thanks again!
Geez I haven't made these in years. Thanks for the reminder. Looks delicious. Who eats pretty ? Nope not me. Pass the ice cream please. Thanks LeAnne for sharing. You are a star. Make it a great day.
LeAnne, reminding me of my dear sweet grandma, mading these for us when I was young. Couldn't wait to have them, after dinner...plus she cook up the scrap dough with a little sugar and spice for a snack before dinner....beautiful memory we a tear in my eye...Thank you so much for the warm hugs I'm feeling right now...😢🤗💕
Hope you enjoy
My grandfather keeps Ask for this thank you for sharing
Wow, I bet they are good!
I bet your house smelled heavenly. Those look fantastic. Continued prayers for you and your husband. 🙏
Ohhhh Apple Dumplings….so yummy & comforting. Love them!
My favorite eating apple is the Honeycrisp. My favorite baking apple is a Granny Smith. Your apple dumplings are absolutely beautiful! Watching you cook is like watching myself. I love how you can chuckle at yourself. I can honestly say that I enjoy my time in the kitchen and keep myself and my family entertained. I remember I used to beat myself up while painting because I could see every one of my flubs until I watched Bob Ross paint and he used to say, "There are no mistakes, only happy accidents". My oil paintings have a lot of happy accidents and I no longer see them as a bad thing. My granddaughters paint and cook with me weekly. Our time together is precious. We will be baking your recipe up tomorrow. 😉 Thanks so much for sharing!!!
I love Bob Ross and his Happy trees! Yes Don't take life for granted!
What a fun idea for a collaboration!
Well that just looks like an ayre pie pocket! I'm feeling a need to try those when apples are a good price! No Amish or Mennonite markets in my area 😪.
Hi LeAnne I just love watching your videos. The absolute best apple I've ever had were called Arkansas Black's. I lived about a mile from the orchard and I would go once a week until they were ready. A very crisp and juicy apple. I've never seen them anywhere else then South Carolina.
That is interesting Melissa! I never heard of them! Sounds like an apple I would love! Thanks for watching!
I hope the fire damage is not to bad! As always, looks delicious!
They look yummy. I think this will be a must try Thanks for sharing this recipe. Glad your husband got some help. Prayers for you and your family. May you have a Blessed weekend
Pray that the boy stays! We had to let go of one boy because parents wanted him paid under the table!
@@MennoniteFarmhouse sorry to hear that. Prayers for a good worker that stays.
Since we have a golden delicious tree, I usually use this for pie or baking. It cooks up very well. This looks like a very good recipe. I can just smell it coming out of the oven.
I’m making these, wow! Just gorgeous!
Thank you! They were so so good!
Oh, my is right!! These looks scrumptious! I haven't made these since my kiddos were still living at home. If I remember correctly, the sauce I used to make was a cinnamon syrup and I may have either used red hot candies or added red food coloring. I think it may have used white sugar as well. My favorite apple to eat out of hand is a Black Twig. I almost never see them and only occasionally at the farmer's market. I also enjoy a Pink Lady for eating fresh. For cooking, it's probably a Pippin. Can't usually find those either!! Because I rarely find Pippins, I usually go for a Granny Smith when used for baking. You crack me up, LeAnne. I think you may be almost as messy as I am. 🤣🤣
Hey Leanne! Oh my goodness...these look delish!!
Those look amazing!
My goodness those apple dumplings look delicious, can't wait to try making these.
That looks amazing.... I will have to make that one for sure...
We will watch and learn with you so that you can make the mistakes and we won't have to 😂😂. I love apple dumplings and those look delicious!
Exactly! First mistake was taking too long to buy the apples because it’s a 45 minute drive one way to get them… then doing the video first thing when I wake up without coffee when the video is due out on that day… but I’m glad I showed how transparent and real I am because that’s how I roll. I needed a good laugh after the week I have had!
LeAnne, I wanted to take a minute to let you know I am COMPLETELY addicted to your RUclips videos and watch them on my TV daily. Rewatching them never gets old; each time I watch once I've seen before, I see something I didn't notice when watching the video before! Your presentation style, and the content of your videos is exactly what I've been looking for. You're so down to earth! I'm re-learning how to bake and you're covering everything from canning, to baking bread, to the benefits of home grown veggies, AND you let us know where you get your recipes including showing us the cook books you sometimes refer to for recipes (which I hunt for online and purchase; I now have 4 of them). Thank you so much for explaining not only the "how to" of how to add the ingredients of a recipe together, but also the "why" some steps are important in the order you have them. All of that info is important to me. Oh, I absolutely cherish the special times when you let us have a glimpse into your life style--I've seen your wonderful garden (my goodness! it's beautiful! So well kept up!) and the video clip of the corn tractor and I'm assuming your husband was driving it--it was wonderful to get a glimpse into a lifestyle I've never seen up close having been raised in the city and having lived almost my whole life there as well. So, thanks for all you share with us...please take care, and yes, God has given us a great day; now go do something great with it!
Thank you Thank you for your kind words Carole!
Give yourself some Grace LeeAnne (How DO you spell your name?). Life has been a little difficult this week. Oh!! Making this for supper tonight. Love your channel
Thank Linda! My name is spelled LeAnne. Yes, life was hard this week and it’s still not over…. 🙄 I have a wedding to go tomorrow morning, thank goodness it’s only a two miles away! I’m just glad my husband is in a better mood and we were able to hire a home schooler to help on the farm.
Thanks for sharing! They look delicious!
Wow I never saw anything like that before! The syrup is like bubbling lava goodness. Yummy
Oo my goodness 😋🤤. That looks delicious LeAnn. I wanna try an apple dumpling. Have a great weekend 🌻🙏
You have such a delightful sense of humor! Your determination to get these in the oven proved to be worth it. They look AWESOME!! You better believe I’ll be making them. Thanks for making me smile!
I've been thinking about fruit dumplings!
I wasn't sure just how my Grandma did them, sadly.
THANK YOU SO KINDLY, for sharing
I’m glad I can help! My mom’s mom past before I was born and my dad’s mom passed right after I graduated from high school from her second battle of breast cancer. So there isn’t a day goes by that I don’t miss them. I hope you can make these and make more memories with your loved ones!
My husband’s all time favorite dessert! Honey crisp is my favorite eating apple by far . Those look delicious.
My next project
Hi LeeAnn! Forgive me if I spelled your name wrong, I know you hate that, but I don't see it listed here! I was so happy to see you at Homesteaders of America. We had such fun talking with you and Miriam. This recipe looks yummy. My dad always used to try to peel apples in one strand too. He was very proud of himself when he accomplished that. I miss him. Thanks for sharing your recipes with us. Hi to Howard! With love from BanDana Gramma
Thank you for the recipe. They look Devine!
Thanks for watching Rhonda!
Looks so yummy
I love the honeycrisp apples best but agree Leann that they are too expensive. These baked apples looked so good. I love apples raw, cut up in oatmeal, baked, crisp, etc. I think I’ll try these for thanksgiving. Thank you and God bless.
Love your channel. When I was a girl I would peel slice and core the 1/2 bushel of apples with a knife to make apple dumplings every fall. My mother would make the pie dough and make the dumplings pie size to eat for our evening meal. Brings back great memories for me
Omg...those are gorgeous. My favorite cooking apples are Cortland.
My great aunt used to make these...🥰
Oh my!! Those look scrumptious!! Guess what I'm making this weekend! Thank you for sharing. Praying your hubby is feeling better and things are looking up. Blessings!
Oh yes, haven’t had apple dumplings in forever and yours looks scrumptious. Hope you and hubby are doing well. Have a blessed night!!
That looks good, thanks for sharing this. Now we need the vanilla 🍦
It's so good!
Thank you. A gentleman at Court Days in Mt. Sterling KY made these and made the trip just for these apples. God Bless and stay safe.
Thank you, LeAnne! These do, indeed, look scrumptious! Have a blessed weekend 😊
Snow white apple from Bedford Co. An heirloom apple. Thanks Lee Ann
Oh wow! Bedford PA??
@@MennoniteFarmhouse LeeAnn I live in Fort Loudon by McConnellsburg. What bulk store do you go to ? I go to Peights in Mount Union or Bellville. Any others? Glenwood in Greencastle is expensive I think. What about you?
@@jerriscollins-ruth9019 I live over the mountain from you. I go to all the bulk food stores in the area. Like the ones you mentioned and Clugston’s, Dutch Country Store Fischer’s meat market. My husband goes to Belleville with oats for the Amish customers all the time.
@@MennoniteFarmhouse thanks Lee Ann. I am not familiar with Clugstona. I will check them.out. thanks. Nice to have a near neighbor with simular interests. Thank you
@@jerriscollins-ruth9019 They are in Mc Connesburg going towards the FCMC.
All apples go good with cinnamon or peanut butter!
absolutely!
Holy moly does that look good! My mom only ever made apple dumplings once that I can recall. And come to think of it, I think I've only made them once myself. Better remedy that hadn't I? Thank you for sharing the recipe and I sure hope you filmed this before the fire, I can't imagine how you'd have time to do this the last few days. Keeping your family in my prayers.
Funny.......I just told everyone at supper this evening that homemade apple dumplings would sure be good for desert. I was just about ready to make some, thought I'd turn the tv on and there you are, making apple dumplings. Lol. I really like Jonagold apples! Great for eating and cooking.
No way! That is too funny! If I knew my day was going to go better than it did I would make you some! They were so good! I forgot how about how good they were. Now I gotta practice before the next FFFF lol
@@MennoniteFarmhouse Thanks LeAnn. You're like me, never know what a day brings. I didn't get mine made. Ran out of steam. Lol Good thing I didn't tell the guys I was going to make them. They'd never let me hear the end of it. Learned that a long time ago. Maybe today. My mom always chopped the apples up. That's how I've always made them, too. Gonna try these, look too yummy!
Excellent recipe! These were just like my Grandmas. She would pour cooked Banana Pudding over them. They were off-the-chain. Lol. Many blessings to you and yours.
I use the same recipe. My grandmother was Mennonite and I have her cookbook. I haven't made these in a long time. Thanks for the reminder. I will definitely be making these soon.
Nice job and they look wonderful. Would be great on family night.
I love honey crisp apples. This is the first time I have seen apple dumplings made. It looks delicious.
💖💖
Thank you LeAnne! I have always wanted to learn to make these but was never brave enough to try. Now after watching your video I am ready to try it! My favorite eating apple is a Mackintosh and have many favorites for cooking. Still keeping your family in prayer. Blessings on your day Kiddo! 🥰🌻🐛🍁🍂
Yes they do look scrumptious!
I usually end up making extra dough because I tend to pick apples that are bigger than what the recipe calls for. With that said I definitely need to make some of these. Thanks for sharing your recipes Leanne. 🙂❤️
Never had this recipe before. I don’t eat dumplings but your recipe looks delicious
My husband loves these so this is going to be a hit here, thank you for another blessing!
Praying things have gotten better for you & Howard, I know it's going to be a long process. Thinking & praying for you all!
My grandma taught me how to make those .she would roll the whole the apple in cinnamon sugar .then she would always put a little tiny pat of butter in the of the apple before she coved the top of the apple with dough.I always remember the two of us spending a whole Saturday making them because grandma shared with everyone. Good memories
I love apple dumplings and these sure came out beautifully. My favorite apple is always cooked, whether baked, in pies or sauce, the tart varieties always seem best for this. 👍
I love your giggle and your fun personality! Thanks so much! Your husband is a blessed man.
Thanks for watching!
This looks delicious!!!! X 1,000.
Your amazing with all these great recipes. I’ve been binge watching all your video. 💜
Those have to be delicious
Just watched this video and can't wait for tomorrow! Was just gifted a ton of apples and haven't made these in years! Thanks for the delicious reminder!
Sending Blessings!!
My grandma used to make these and full the apples with nuts, raisins, cinnamon and sugar. Yum!
Sounds wonderful
Oh my! Those look absolutely delicious! I think I can smell them or maybe it’s just a memory. One of my aunts makes these and they are so good! Thank you for the lovely recipe card.
Hope you enjoy
Oh my goodness!!! Those looks absolutely delicious!!! I will have to try making those!!!
You are just an absolute joy. Praising God He showed me your channel. What sweet encouragement and laughter you bring. (I'm on a Mennonite Farmhouse marathon if you can't telll by my multiple comments on your various videos 😁)
Thank you! Yes the Lord brought us together for a reason! 😊
Oh my word, those looked so good. I haven't had any of those in almost 15 years I think and these made me crave them now so thanks a lot lol. Yum
Red delicious
These look so delicious! My husband said they are just like his grandma in Pennsylvania made. I am going to add this to my must make list.
I’m glad I can help your husband have great Food memories! They were so so good!
Thank you for sharing this recipe. It brought back childhood memories. Every Fall, when Apple season arrived, my mom made large pans of apple dumplings. She made them just like this minus the syrup. So yummy. She served them warm in a bowl with a bit of cream or milk.
Wow! Those apple dumplings look wonderful, my mouth is watering just watching.
These look delicious. My mom made apple 🍏 dumplings when I was a little girl, she was a great cook too.
these apple dumplings are massive but look so good
These look awesome. Old fashioned apple dumpling could be making a come back.
Yes! They are so popular in my area!
OMGoodness those look deliciously yummy! I've never made apple dumplings before. Thank you for sharing! Blessings to you and your family!🕊✝🙏🏼💖
My grandmother used to make these. I have never attempted. Thank you for the video, I will be making some; once my shoulder heals
Great job! Thanks for sharing. Yummy!
Can't wait to make them thanks for the recipe
As you were making these I kept saying, "oh no! I'm not going to even attempt it!" LOL. They looked so beautiful when they came out of the oven. I was so surprised. Thanks for the recipe. I will make these for sure!
I've made apple dumplings before but not with the apple whole. I am definitely going to make these for my family. Warm with a scoop of ice cream. i can already taste it. Thanks LeAnne.
Hope you enjoy
Apple Dumplings just scream delicious and fall! My son loves them and the recipe I use has a little bit of orange juice in it. Yum!
I can smell them 😋 definitely look scrumptious 😊
They look amazing! I bet they were awesome! I made it through all your vids, like I said LeAnne! Have a great weekend!!
Thanks Rich! I’m sure Holly is busy printing recipes off! Lol 😂
Oh those look amazing!!! My mother had a recipe using red hots in the syrup!!
I am so glad I came across your channel. I have a love for baking breads and sweet treats which all started with my grandmother. I had apple dumplings like these years ago and fell in love at first bite. This is the first recipe I've ever found for them and I can't wait to make them. Thank you for sharing. 😊❤
