- 3D resin printer just took another giant leap forward thanks to the Elegoo Mars 4 Ultra. Elegoo has managed to squeeze a 9K screen into its standard Mars body to produce and incredible 18 micron printer. It's awesome print quality even surpasses that of the budget DLPs, making it a true printing champion.

So happy you finally got your hands on one! Easily my new fav resin printer for price & bang for buck! Great review mate & for sure want to print that figure you modeled
Elegoo have pulled off a miracle here. I agree - my new favorite too. Thanks for your input 😁👍
youve got some gorgeous designs, Tanks for explaining so well the subtleties that are often so hard to get.
Thanks so much 😊
I'm glad that the printer turned out to be great! The lack of review units had me worried, but like you said it seems they had no reason to do that in the first place.
PS: good job on the painted mini!
Thanks for the Orc Love.
Yes, I think Elegoo knew they were selling what they hadn't technically got what it came to the showcase. I can't pretend I like the approach, but that's business I guess. Luckily this really is an amazing unit. 😁
Peace be upon you. Please, I want your help. What is the best dental printer I can use? I am looking for quality in smooth resin and speed of production
Amazing Vogman, that PFA test was so useful!!! Those results. OMGF!!!!!!!! Awesome video!!!!
Thank you very much good sir 😁
I waited for SO LONG but it finally happened: you said LCD can beat DLP! 🤗I was betting that, with enough resolution, it would give us better resolution - Fresnel light probably helped too, since light gets collimated, instead of dispersed sideways. Great video, VOGMAN! OH! The photo of the ring!!!! MAN, THAT PHOTO IS INSANE! All your photos got so much better in the last videos, and I am really enjoying them! Congrats! ❤👍
Yes, it's a great printer. And thanks for the compliments on the photos. I wish it was me... it's the camera. I still haven't learned how to use it properly 😂🤣😂
The orc looked awesome! No one would think you haven't painted for a while. He looked great! Another great video mate 👍
Thanks for the Orc Love.
It's an easy technique. I wish I could see better to get the real detailing right, but it was fun 😁
The self tests are actually good. As someone that has serviced my own printer and didn't fully seat the LCD ribbon cable and forgot to plug in the UV LEDs this is useful especially since the LCD is technically a consumable and does need to be changed regularly.
I'm probably being unkind in my assessment of these. I tend to be cynical when I can't see real, tangible results 😁
This is really good to see. I'm a fan of Elegoo machines so it's reassuring that the whole oddness surrounding the launch wasn't hiding anything.
Yes, strange launch. Heavy-handed sales techniques. BUT the product was (luckily) a good one 😁😁😁
I love that you painted the mini! I think it is very useful to see very well the detail and how pixelated the final result is. Maybe it is just ok if you show a primed model with a color that helps to stand out the details?
Thanks for the Orc Love.
I needed to paint in honesty. I needed to chill. I didn't fancy something complex as I'm too rusty, by he was easy.
I think painting the models is great! Seeing them in context in which they'll be used/displayed is very worthwhile.
Thanks for the Orc Love.
I enjoy painting and hope to get back into it if I can sort out a camera to help me see 😁
Which PFA/nFEP did you use to replace the ACF liner?
which is the better print between MARS 4DLP and Mars 4 Ultra?? Or can you suggest me a top printer for small prints? Thank you very much
Incredible video as always! I am a goldsmith and this is the kind of printer I need. I have been working with Mono 4k and Saturn 2, but this new mars is my goal for now!
You'll see a massive difference. Excellent printer. 😁
I bought the Mars 3 to see if I liked 3d printing. I really enjoyed and I am now going to return it as soon as my Mars 4k Ultra 9k arrives. Glad to see you changed your mind about this as it makes the purchase a lot easier
I haven't changed my mind about how it was launched... I still think that was shady... but the printer is excellent and well worth the price 😁😁😁
It would be really nice if companies releasing printers with ACF film would also give the option to swap it for nFEP/PFA film at no extra cost. It could be a very easy option when purchasing.
People do enjoy options 😁
I just ordered a Mars 4 Ultra 9k ... and several A4+ sheets of PFA from Amazon. Supposedly they will have replacement resin tanks for sale to fit it in October (2023).
How much faster can you print with an ACF liner? Does enabling AA fix the line problem?
Love the orc! It's a great blend of whimsy and detail :D My kind of design. Thanks for the review!
Thanks for the Orc Love.
Whimsy is what I was going for. He's deliberately cartoonish. Fun was the name of the game here 😁😁😁
I've been contemplating an upgrade from my Mars 2 Pro for a long time and this video pushed me over the edge on pulling the trigger on this model. Unfortunately, for my wife, your jewelry and casting videos have got me eyeing that "lateral" move in the hobby.
Always glad to see your videos pop up! Though, I'll await on my Athena printer. Also, hopefully DLPs will continue to on improve. Lower electricity cost and longer projection life are quite appealing.
No one loves DLPs more than me... it's just the expense that's attached to them. That's what hurt the budget DLPs chances. Fingers crossed.
Serious question, which would you recommend more the mars 4 ultra or saturn 3 ultra
Thank you for trying it with a nFEP, it's exactly what I was wondering while watching the video.
Glad I could help!
VOGMAN - would you recommend the Mars 4 9k over the Mini 8K S? They seem to be targeting the same market - similar price-point and build volume. Technically the 9k is higher resolution, but the 8K S seems to be extremely reliable. Have you noticed any difference in print quality between the two?
sorry for comment storm i do but i really cant decide between this and regular Saturn 3. Which one you would suggest? My dillema is build volume difference actually O_o
Which fep film did you replace it with? There is no Mars 4 size replacements on Elegoos website
How does print time compare DLP vs LCD? Does one have more UV intensity that the other, such that the higher intensity prints/cures faster?
@vogman could you recommend a specific film to replace the ACF? I'm printing miniatures
You mention on a newer reviev of another resin printer something with needing heater, does the Marz ultra k9 have heater or room for heater.
New to resin printers so might be the wrong question :)
Is there a wash and cure station that fits the Mars 4 Ultra buildplate in the cleaning bakset? To my understanding Mercury plus 2.0 is to small. Maybe something from the competitors work?
Thanks for this review! Altough i missed any mention about the missing heater. Can the airfilter be replaced or combined with an existing heater?
The lid does make it tricky as it's a weird shape and I'm not certain about the dimensions of the heater. However, I have heard from someone who fitted the Chitu Heater successfully that I mentioned in this video ruclips.net/video/SZW9vBppQ-A/видео.html so hopefully it should.
For me DLP is less about the fine detail and more about getting rid of the screen as consumable, plus the much lower power usage. If you had a printing farm of DLPs, it'd consume only a fraction of the power needed by LCD-based resin printers. The things that are mostly annoying with DLPs include the relatively high price and the small build volume. Hard to pick a winner overall, but I agree that LCD-based printers aren't quite dead yet. Hope to see more DLP innovation soon-ish...
Me too. I love DLP. But they are very expensive. Anycubic pulled a miracle getting them to the budget market. Elegoo matched it because, well, they had to, but no one else has even tried. Now we're seeing LCD beat DLP quality, it's not looking hopeful... but that doesn't mean we shouldn't hope 😁
@@vogman The biggest obstacle appears to be that Texas Instruments really likes the patents they have on the DLP 'light engine', unlike LCDs which are produced by everyone and their pet hamster.
Still happy to see DLPs on the regular consumer market, hopefully Ti and other companies get the hint that there's a market here beyond selling two dozen high-end units to big companies per month...
Quite true. But they deserve their pound of flesh. Mind you, those patents have got to be pretty old right now (old for a patent - spring chicken to this RUclipsr). Once released, then we may see more movement.
@@vogman I'm looking forward to that day :)
As per usual a great review VOG 👍
Many thanks 😁
Would have loved some direct comparison macro shots of the mars DLP with AA versus this one. 'DLP killer' is a strong claim in an area where raw specs often mean so very little.
As others said, love the painted miniature. As that is the end goal for me with these printers, painted mini's.
And thanks for again a great review. ;-)
Thanks for the Orc Love. It's been a long time since I had a go at painting. I forgot how enjoyable it can be 😁
The addition of Wifi is great, but does it have to go through some cloud service to use it? I think a lot of folks aren't happy about our prints going through a cloud service rather than just straight to the printer.
Looking at these smaller 4k + capable printers and really wanting to downsize/upgrade from a Phrozen Transform Mono. Great Video!!! I would love to see how it handles max print height models.
The details on that ring though!
watching stuff recently i've come to the conclusion that printer reviews or comparisons should include always 2 specific minis: something with flowing fabric like a cloak, and something like a Tau model with tons of smooth surfaces both flat and curved that you can't compensate for with nice orientation
that would really show which printers have the better capacities imo
I love my jupiter 6k. I wish they would come out with an upgrade kit to increase the resolution though. Details are still nice but you know, more is better, right?
Does it have an exhaust port somewhere around the base body? :)
as always a great review, thank you!
Many thanks 😁
As for the miniature, I like it. It has a real fun and useful tabletop look. The scale armour was great, I have tried to model that myself but not as nice looking.
Thanks for the Orc Love 😁
He's a happy little evil killing machine. The armour isn't technically correct but instead deliberately angled for easy printing and painting. But of course in model scale it works a treat, and doesn't need any supports 😁😁😁
This time the magic of the video worked, price and quality are two essential factors. Thanks for sharing.
I agree. It's a great price for a great product.
I can't wait to get mine!
You'll be thrilled.
Great review as always
Thanks for watching 😁😁😁
Hey Vog wondering what your thoughts are on those 8k resins phrozen sells compared to the dlp craftsman resin you used here!
Hi Carlos. I don't mind the Phrozen 8K, but I find it a little thick and brittle. It needs longer curing times. I prefer the Craftsman Grey www.vegoilguy.co.uk/3d-resin-choice.php
This is what put me off Elegoo printers to start with all these screen and then motherboards not working when arriving i have anycubic 4k amd the newer mono 2 sice your review its a beautiful machine but still to small! 3 weeks ago i bit the bullet amd went for a Saturn 2 8k from Elegoo direct and it was ordered the Thursday night 5.30pm ish and arrived 2pm Saturday i was very impressed as was worrying like heck at people playing football with mine but bit weight there for that but if was dropped etc but everything was and still is perfect i love it and really thinking of a second now!
The self check could be useful if you’ve done some repairs and wanna confirm you’ve got everything plugged in correctly and I believe the first is to do with the actual lcd panel connection and the LED light source would the uv light projector under the lcd panel. Not to most useful everyday feature but could definitely calm some nerves if your new to repairing your own printer.
I wonder if the LCd test isn't for the user interface but for the LCD screen that masks the UV light.
not 2 challenge the VOG Man but, there's a load of new software with amazing features out there that people have no idea about! best regards Man of VOG!!
Thanks for testing out the nfep! It's much appreciated :)
Hopefully much of an impact do you think the fresnal lens is having?
I've no real idea of how effective a fresnel lens is. I get the idea... it redirects/correct the angle of the light from the centralised COB. I guess we'd need to see tests with and without them. I'd hope this has already been done within the industry 😁
nice review Vog!
Glad you enjoyed it
Pre-ordered mine a few days ago. I have a lot of designs that need maximum resolution and this looked too good to be true. We'll see what it can do
I'm so pumped for this 😌
It's an amazing printer 😁
Amazing review!
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice review again. Hmm an interesting printer. To be honest I think it has got to the stage that an established 3d printer brand should make their products modular by design so that they can be upgraded without the consumer having to buy a completely new machine regularly to get that extra bit of resolution/improvement. I'm still surprised that Anycubic have not utilised yet the higher resolution DLP chip arrays from TI; understand they are pretty pricey but they have to bite the bullet at some point - I'm waiting for a 5 micron or better 3D printer for the the consumer market 😉.
Vogman! i think this was a very good review! I was wondering about why i hadnt seen this yet , i was buying a mars last week and i wish this was out lol
They're still manufacturing and catching up with backorders from their sales launch, so there haven't been any available for RUclipsrs to review. Hopefully that's changing now 😁
Excellent review and I'm also glad that they weren't hiding something. 100 likes for the Orc! The LCD Connect test is of the print screen, not the control screen. And the S is silent in Fresnel - freh-nell.
The screen issue is confusing as there's two points referring to it... 1 and 3. But both points are useless as both are obvious. 😂
Take your word for Fresnel. I can barely pronounce my name never mind someone else's.
And thanks for the Orc love.
Would it be a better choice than the phrozen mini 8k s if you want to specialize in jewelry? Didn’t saw any comparaison video
Yes, without a doubt 😁
Would you be able to make a video comparing the mars 4 dlp vs the 9k ultra for jewelry specific uses, eg, engraving on rings/thin letters
I'll keep it in mind 😁
@@vogman Thank you! A comparision video of that would help so many Jewelers decide on a printer right away. There are just some pieces in which the engraving ends up being bloated/coated by resin light bleed and knowing which one will give the best result in that aspect will be extremely helpful for me to decide what to upgrade to from the mars 3 pro (x-one castable resin pls)
How does this stack up to the phrozen mini 8k .... I'm ready to dive in and buy, but don't know if I should get this or the mini 8k
This or the mini 8K, this wins on print quality easily.
Thanks VOG (I was around lurking your channel back when you were casting)- Old dude in the states just now pulling the trigger on 3d printing due to life/time/blah blah blah... Im venturing out with a second hand old Elegoo gen 1 "MARS"... any chance of getting a "retro" lets get started in 3d printing with a current shootout side-by side of an old printer with a new printer to compare so that newbies can see entry level versus higher level? Love the content- thanks for posting!
Sounds a fun idea. I'll look into it 😁
Very hard to chose replacement printer nowadays. Was thinking going for Sonic 8Ks but now we have a Mars 9K which is more cheaper. Using AC mono 2K as starter but their 12K is just..... Well, might need to find out more about this DLP killer. Is this a dual rails Z axis printer or just like 8Ks, signle rail as stability is what my concern. Thanks.
It's a single rail, but very stable. I spotted the infamous Z Wobble on the early Mars 3, casuing poor Elegoo to change their design (though they've never admitted to that - they did it all the same). Since then I'm always on the look out for stability. No issues seen here. 😁
@@vogman it seems 9k is using the old famous build plate, right?😨
The lcd test is probably for the screen that draws the image being printed, not the interface screen
So nice!
Elegoo store said to me they plan to have mars 4 here in Brazil but they don't have a eta of release yet.. prices are way better on the official aliexpress store they have because I don't need to pay super high import fees.. it may take a while before I can get one.
So I got a saturn 2 in a discount price as my first printer.. hope it arrives and works well.
That's a very good first printer. You'll love it 😁
I'd just like to thank you for answering a question I've yet to hear answered. That question being: What pixel size does an LCD screen require to genuinely compare the results to a 2k DLP? And the answer appears to be about here. I love the accuracy of the DLP however it'll be miniatures being printed so this works for me. Cheers! 🤘
Peace be upon you. Please, I want your help. What is the best dental printer I can use? I am looking for quality in smooth resin and speed of production
This is going to be my first 3D printer, put a pre-order down in early July. Just waiting for shipment.
No problem. It's a great printer. Just be remedy for the mess resin printing brings to our orderly lives 😁😁😁
Looks like great upgrade compared to my mars 3 :D Awesome thing for miniature painter
It's the first real upgrade on the Mars since it went 4K. The 9K leap is amazing.
In UncleJessy's video the tempered glass is clearly visible (it is indicated by him), why in the printer you reviewed (and in the one I received), isn't it like that?
I literally just bought the new Mars 4 DLP - should I try and return it or do you think it'll be alright for a while? Primarily print miniatures, this was an upgrade from the AnyCubic Photon Mono 4K.
I always tell people to buy DLPs because I love them - BUT I now love this Mars Ultra more, so I'm a tad biased 😁
Realistically the DLP will print great for you, but you really need to nail the AA if you're painting miniatures. Because of the sharp nature of DLP pixels, you'll find layer lines can really jump out when, say, dry brushing.
The Ultra is an LCD with soft fuzzy pixels, which leads to softer / less harsh lines. This can make a massive difference when painting. Also, the quality of the 18 micron exceeds the DLP.
So it's better quality and easier to paint.
Unfortunately you have to pre-order as this printer has proved so popular, they're catching up on orders. But check out the website and see if there's a wait time update tinyurl.com/yc5j8hkb
I hope this helped.
@@vogman this helps a lot, for sure! Likely I'll keep the DLP and learn its intricacies, but will definitely be keeping an eye out in the future.
Thanks very much! Love your work.
3:24 An interesting experiment would be disconnecting the cable from those elements in the motherboard and see if the 'self-test' does indeed work. Also another detail that none of the reviews of the Saturn 3 Ultra and Mars 4 Ultra have mentioned that the zone at the back where the hole for the motor/screw, home sensor and usb/wifi connector is raised from the general area of the screen/vat. That means if the vat/fep sprung a leak there's a reduced chance that the resin will spill inside those holes.
Interest in either the Mars 4 Ultra or the Saturn 3. I would change the the film on the the 4 ultra though if I went that route.
Thank you so much for doing the ACF test against nFEP!
No worries 😁
Also the test could be just a rudimentary test to see if the controllers are connected, not a gimmick; so it will be easier to diagnose issues if needed
Great video - I think it may be time for me to buy one. You clearly showed that nFEP gives better detail than ACF. But is ACF less "sticky", resulting in fewer failed prints? You'd have to test with models whose supports are non-optimal. In other words, are we trading off detail for printability?
Printability and printspeed....
I've no doubt ACF liners have their place. I've heard stories that they reduce very fine detail and I've witnessed the vertical line issues, but in theory, they reduce that "snap" tension we hear during printing which, again in theory, improves success rate as well as allowing for faster release times. I can't comment on whether this really works as I'm not in a position to do the thousands of tests necessary to prove the theory. 😁
I can sense my Mars 3 Pro sulking in the other room, it knows its days as favourite are numbered.
A long time ago I had a Peugeot 405. It was an amazing car that never, ever let me down. Eventually I placed a order on a new car and the week before I got it, my beloved Peugeot seized up.
They know! They really know! Talk sweetly to it...
😉😁😂🤣😂
I understand your logic. The best printer is the one that prints best. On the other side, you and other reviewers are talking in many videos about how resolution is not the way to go with 8k or 12 k or more as the human eye doesn't see a difference. From your's and other similar video's I got that we need simpler vat, better print plates, air cleaner, inbuilt heater, no knobs (😅😅😅) so printers become more user and elements (cold time of the year) friendly. Mentioning all that for me gktwo is still the best printer I've seen in your videos. Expensive but it gives most to the user. You gave it the most innovative 3d printer on the market a few months ago. From then on, all I've seen is more resolution stuff on new printers 🤷♂️
Even though the acf film may add lines, it reduces peel forces significantly and ive been able to print parts i otherwise wouldnt be able to without it.
Perfect! That's what I like to hear. Thanks for the share 😁
I ordered mine the day preorder went live. I'm so tired of waiting for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But as always great review. You are one of my two favorite resin experts. Many thanks. Have you tried Ross' new miniatures resin yet?
Smart move.
Me too, still not here. 🥲
Are you sure the LCD test is for the front panel display, or the actually projection screen? If so, then the self test quickly tells you there's no issue in the actual printing components before you start working, which could cause issues with either the result or the moving parts themselves. So I don't think it's a gimmick.
I'm probably being over critical. 😁
Is the main body identical in dimensions to the Mars 3? I have a heated enclosure for my Mars 3 Pro that I'd love to use on this machine. Nice review BTW!
Check the specks on the website. tinyurl.com/yc5j8hkb
At a glance it looked identical - but the resin tray was different, so I can't be certain.
@@vogman Yes indeed the machine width x depth is listed as identical. Perhaps my custom heated enclosure will fit! Now between this machine and the GKTwo . . .
I will send them an email asking if the base is actually identical, particularly the rim around the edges that my heated enclosure sits on.
Would you recommend Mars 4 Ultra or Mars 4 DLP for dental use?
I think the Mars 4 Ultra will give you better definition and a smoother finish 😁
Puf, I thought You test nfep film in this video, and I was not wrong. Good job!
Happy to help 😁
why isn't nfep (pfa) good?
I’m so hoping I can scrimp and save enough to purchase one by Xmas
Will give head for Elegoo Mars 4 Ultra 9K 18 micon 3D resin printer.
Cool I'd love the ork, but you know what we are all like nothing simple when comes to painting weathering etc, haha
If i can re scale him I'll put him up on the shelf with all my Turtle's and batman etc
Incredible machine.
It sure is!
I've been waiting to buy a printer for a long time. It seems the time has finally come to pull the trigger
It's unlikely we'll see any improvement of this for a couple of years and in terms of viewable quality, it's getting very hard to tell. So yes, I think you're safe 😁
Ok i never thought after getting my elegoo Saturn 2 just 3 weeks ago i would buy anything with a smaller build plate again still on the fence there but this mars ultra 4 is soooo tempting! I boght the mono 2 after your review and its fantastic compared to my mono 4k but now its like that with the saturn 2 8k and the mono 2 the prints are just not near as good! Im basically printing all the time on a 50um layer hight on the saturn 2 on my beautiful sculptures and the that shine ofnthe print youll know what i mean from the 8ks and up are just stunning! I can see it on your liono head there that lovely like shine the mono 2 needs to be on a 20um to get anywhere need a 50um on the Saturn 2 doubling or more the time! I think im sold on this 9k! Anyone want a 4k and a mono 2? 3 months old lol
You're clearly someone who loves the fine detail. I'm exactly the same 😁
So this one or the Gktwo? Which one do you prefere?
What are you really looking for, size or quality? That's what you need to decide 😁
www.vegoilguy.co.uk/3d-resin-printing-which-printer.php
hi im having such a hard time picking a printer... mars 4 9 k ultra or saturn 3 12 k ultra:( what would you say?
i just make minies
Beyond doubt the best printer available right now is the Mars 4 Ultra (9K) and in terms of print quality is can beat any 12K printer. However, the differences are small and can really only be seen under strong magnification.
So ask yourself what do you need more, better quality or the ability to print larger prints? 😁
hmmm quality XD I whant to print minies and landscape for minies so I don't rly need such a big scale. :).
Thank you, I want it but elogoo not shipping to my country 😢
Sorry buddy ☹
Does this work with wax resin, finally used for casting
Absolutely. As long as the resin is 405 wavelength, and most are 😁
Vog, is it better than 8ks in Your opinion? Any Z arm wobble?
Yes, this surpasses the Mini 8K and it's cheaper alternative the 8KS in terms of print quality. There's no sign of wobble that I can see 😁
Great information. From a jewelers perspective at this resolution, the ACF lines won't make a difference once cast into jewelry. Even using castable resins that can achieve the highest details.
Going by your pictures, the ACF lines are smaller than the pixels. Definitely smaller than the layer lines. I'm guessing a quick toss in a magnetic tumbler and just about all the lines disappear once you get down to a 0.03-0.02mm layer height.
What are your thoughts? For items being cast do you think it might be worth keeping the ACF film in place to speed up prints at a 0.02mm layer height?
Thanks again, I was exited to see this video come out!
In honesty, I'm no sure. If you look at the Hulk ring, you can see layer lines. If an ACF liner had been used and the model was appropriate, at this magnification I think there's a chance it would show. BUT... there's also the strong (very strong) chance that I'm not talented with jewellery and a skilled artisan could have polished out those marks 😁😁😁
@@vogman Well that just means more fun experiments!
Honestly you're doing great! Some of those Etsy rings that come in that I need to fix look like they were printed on FDM.
I'm not normal. I pay way too much attention to detail. I even prepolish the difficult areas under a microscope. Even tried modifying a Phrozen Sonic Saber to use abrasive rods. Didn't work for me BTW, I guess theirs is a reason ultrasonic polishers are $2500.
I tried orbital and ultrasonic toothbrushes as mini sanders. It wasn't worth the time it took to glue on the tiny slithers of sandpaper.
I wish I could see better. A microscope is out of my price reach, but right now I'm desperately trying to find a cheap camera I can live-output to a large screen so I can magnify to a level I can comfortably see. I know it's possible, but cameras are not my thing 😂
is changing the ACF film hard?
Not at all. Just look up "changing an FEP"
Great review Geoff. I'm sorry to see you are having builder problems. What utter numnuts!!
It certainly looks like an amazing printer. That detail is extraordinary! To be completely honest though, I wish that they would slow down releasing better resolution printers. My poor little 4K that I bought 12 months ago (or so) hasn't seen much use yet and now it's incredibly obsolete!
There is a limit that the human eye can see and I'm pretty sure that they have exceeded that limit... and then some! I know that professional jewelers can also use these machines and probably do. But, these are quality, budget machines mostly aimed at the hobbyist. So printer manufacturers... well done! We're very grateful for the resolution, but how about focusing on the other areas that Geoff has identified? Eg. Heating and fume extractors as standard.
Those miniatures look awesome! I also want to get into printing and painting miniatures. Hopefully when I get a certain "you-know-who" to move out and I can get into the shed again.🙄
Cheers
Thanks Dan. Thanks for the Orc Love.
You're right... it's virtually impossible to SEE the difference in these printers right now, unless they're stupidly magnified like I do here. I also suspect we've hit a quality plateau for a will, so maybe manufacturers will give us the extras we've been asking for.
As for mini painting, I do find it relaxing and fun. My eyes let me down which spoils my fun, but hey, can't complain.
What’s your view on the acf liner and it’s impact on quality of the prints
Other than tiny vertical lines, I've not seen any problems with ACF.
@@vogman Hey Vogman can you tell/show us which NFEP you used to replace the ACF liner?
This one looks nice, but I am a big fan of the new M5 series from Anycubic, bigger builds, and no it's not 18um capable, but I don't print at that layer height ever anyway. Good review, thanks for sharing. Was cautiously looking at this and the Elegoo DLP, and I think I will stick with Anycubic for now. Too many Mars indeed VogMan.
No worries. Bigger gets you more possibilities anyway 😁
@@vogman It does, but it is cool to see the details getting better and better. I see how far the industry has come, it's very promising.
I see knob reviews in the near future? Jokes a side, thanks for all the info. Looks fenomenal
There has to be a knob joke otherwise it's not a proper review 😁😁😁
I wish this resolution race would end and manufacturers start developing quality of life improvements and actually develop resin printing to make it more user friendly
My guess? In the standard size (like the Mars), we won't see any movement for at least 12 months. It took near 2 years to go from 8K to 12K in this size printer.
Hmmm this or the mars 4 dlp.... I'm wondering which would be better for printing small mechanical parts where accuracy is vital
Edit: I found a mars 4 dlp for around $300 USD and decided to go with that one. This printer was a close second! Thanks for the great in-depth reviews Vogman!
