- I was able to test drive the new Tesla Model 3 back to back with the old one and share my thoughts on the differences. Basically it's everything we have wanted it to be. The quality is there and it's going to be very hard to compete with it.

Don't forget much quieter. And that ambient light and second screen in the back is a nice touch. Taillights are also much nicer imo

thank you for saying “when i get back in the old one i don’t feel like it’s old. the perfect model 3 for me is to have the “old” front, and have the new rear lights. “old” model 3s still look good to me and pretty solid.
Old three and y was designed by and ex Porsche designer I have heard. You can kind of see the similarity new ones is not bad.
The added features and better suspension are great. I would go for the the LR version . More FOMO over the Hardware 5 and a better long range battery.
HW5 doesn’t exist yet. The new Model 3 has HW4

I noticed that immediately. Its a sign of poor craftsmanship. They should not have attempted it to do this if they couldn't deliver. It's petty, but should not have been missed
I have received mine on the first day it was available in France, and it was perfectly lined up... It seems Chinese version has a better quality check. Very good car, the quality of the vegan lever is bad. I can't see how it could stay clean for 10 years.
So after long consideration I placed my order for the M3 LR I went for a test drive today and the car was quiet, comfortable. It is very fast. I don't need a performance, I never go to the track, l don't drive more than 75 on Freeway, 50 on city streets and I don't want to worry about driving over potholes and ruining my rims and LR has better range. Glad I'm officially part of Tesla family. First EV🎉🎉 Stealth Grey black interior. Phoenix Arizona

New Model 3 is *definitely* a quality upgrade from my demo drive experience for sure.
You really summed it up well the way you stated it, "when I get back in the old one I dont feel like it's old". These are basic cars for efficiency with some frills so the build quality and noise levels and ride are not going to make or break a purchase. It would however be interesting to blind fold someone and see if they could tell the ride difference without the knowledge of what vehicle they are riding in.

The difference in the dampening and softer ride on the 2023 vs the new was night and day for me. The seats seem larger and the venting is amazing. So much quieter than the 23' as well.
Test drove one yesterday afternoon. As a current 2021 Model Y owner I wanted a taste of what the Juniper Y refresh will feel like. Wow, I was very impressed with the softer ride, quieter cabin and the premium interior. Tesla nailed the upgrade. I will be ordering the refreshed Y as soon as it goes live.

What will you do with your current Model Y?
Anyone waiting for the Juniper seems to think it’s going to be a completely different vehicle. It’s going to look slightly different, have ambient lighting (which you can add to your current Model Y super cheap) and ventilated seats.
If you want a Model Y, buy now with great prices, and let the Juniper buzz die down and let all the people who can’t help themselves deal with the bugs and high prices. Seriously, the Model Y is a great car, there is 0 value in waiting for Juniper unless you’re someone that just HAS to have the newest thing. It’s like Apple, some people always need to have the newest phone spending unnecessary money.

For some reason they disabled the rear screen on demo cars. According to others you can enable it buy holding the scroll wheels to reset the infotainment system.
I cannot stop looking at ambient light strip on passenger side - on A-pillar and door as it so misaligned 😢
I test drove both the y and the new model 3, I went in wanting the y, I’ve ordered the model 3!
Not a fan of the new head lights, for some reason I squint when I look at the car lol. Also prefer the look of the Tesla logo over text. The perf seats, and suspension upgrades are the kings for me. Third parties have really good ambient lighting and back screen products available. I don’t think the trade in is worth it for me personally🤔. But you know, different strokes for different folks.
Agreed. Throw in an aftermarket suspension and you got a new model 3 for cheaper
I drove one last week from Kirkland Commons. Fantastic car (LR) rode amazing with the 18” wheels. Waiting for the Performance model before deciding on my next Tesla. #PHX ❤️
Shift stalk gone is a massive game changer
I drove one. Turn signals are easy on steering wheel. Apparently is only really a concern in traffic circles, but I had no issue!

For your information: At 5:37 and also at 7:50 in your video, you show that you wonder if in the center pillar under the roof, behind the narrow grille would contain a speaker. Well, on the Tesla website about the new Model 3 under "All-New Interior" in the animation about "Sublime sound", animated circles indicate the locations of all the speakers. No circle appears in the centre (of the roof), so there is no speaker behind that grille.
The locations of the two microphones is not shown on the Tesla website, nor in the manual. Possibly they are behind that grille. Two microphones versus one microphone in the previous version, for clearer speech sound of your voice for the person you are speaking to on the phone.
I haven't bought this car yet. I would ask a Tesla advisor where the microphones are located.

The old 3s have the same windshield wiper wash application.
Been seeing numerous issues with the trim not aligning on the LR. And the brake lights still end up filling with moisture I saw.
It is right in your face that ambient light strip is miss-aligned on the right side.

Personally, I think the lack of stalks on the steering column is a mistake. The advantage to stalks is that you know where they are no matter where the wheel is oriented. Might not be a dealbreaker for many folks, but i don’t like it. You might say I’m bullish on the stalk market in general.
it took me some time to get used to it but now I see it really as an improvement. I guess they just want to show that you won't have to shift gears or use stalks in the future with autopilot...

The craziest thing IMO is the soundsystem in all Teslas. I have a really great soundsystem at home but the sound in the Teslas I have been in mesure up 100% . I havent been fortunate enough to try the cybertruck, but I am tild that it is even better than the other Teslas!
I have the Highland (yes I’m still calling it like that) and what I noticed when I did a test drive, was that the Model Y is just so narrow at the front. The highland has just more space at the front. Also the charging pad for the phones is much larger on the highland than the Y. And honestly the Y felt like a big downgrade to me but then again it’s not just having all the new stuff
it looks really really good... and i could get used to the indicators

How was rear door handle manual override? I didn’t like that you had to figure out how to disassemble the door in the old versions 😬
I took delivery of a FWD 2024 Model 3 and it has felt covers over the sub holders in the trunk
Not sure, if I am the only one to notice, misalignment of the ambience lightstrip on passenger side corner. Definitely an eye sore,once you notice it🤯.Not sure, if it was the angle of camera that amplified it🤔. Definitely, not expecting it, with everything bumped up to a near premium level. I have heard that the headlights are not as good on the new Model 3, I would love to see what the IIHS says about that.

The wipers are so cool lol. I have a white model 3 so I have blue stains all over the side of my care 🙃
I just did a overnight test drive on a new long range refresh 3 and i got the floor mats muddy so i took it to a place to vacuum them myself. God i forgot how horrible they are to vacuum they keep coming off the floor. I love my rubber liners in my model 3.

How does the suspension compared to your unplugged suspension? Would you consider instead of buying a new Highland model 3 and keep your old model 3 and get the unplugged suspension?
All I hear about the doors slamming is weird. My 2023 sounds as good as any car I've owned. Is that a pre 2023 issue??
Gjeebs tesla took out speaker from this 2024 model 3 standard and I think you have to pay to turn on the heated and cooled seats in the back?
Not a fan of it being stalk-less, but whatever - I guess… With all the subtle fine tuning (ie build quality, materials, etc), I’m definitely looking forward to seeing the redesigned MY… if it hits, I might trade in my ‘23 M3… 😎🥃

Yeah, but I feel they kinda went in reverse on some things, like no parking sensors, no stalks and the only thing they added was a rear display, which is huge... but not enough to justify getting an upgrade. I just bought a used 2022 Red Model Y Performance for 40k, it had 24k miles.. that's almost 100k left on the drive train and I have sensors, stalks, Ryzen processor, Lith-ion 16v battery and 3.5 0-60. Original price was 71k on the sticker. I'm running this til the wheels fall off. :)

Yeah in the trunk the old 3 had the subwoofer box on the right side of the trunk, the long range i drove did have the 2 sub woofers installed in the ceiling of the trunk and the magnets looked kinda small.
Thanks for mentioning the “Highland” name bs. Friend of mine said he’s loving the new “Model Highland” and I wanted to punch him. Told him it’s just called Model 3 but the worst part is, he’s convinced he’s right bc that’s what all the “Tesla guys” call it.

Tesla is upping its game. The competitive Chinese market is making them a better company. We need BYD in North America. Competition and choice is a good thing.

It might be worth mentoning that even though the car does not get the 7500 credit...most buyers who bought an ev in the less then the past 3 years will not quilify either. That being said...it would be nothing to simply trade in your 2 year old 3 for the newer 2024 one. It will have decent trade in still...so why not just get the fully upgraded one and future proof yourself? Just a thought.
2 year old trade in is down like 50 %, 60 % if you trade in to Tesla. This deal is not like a cellphone.
I drive an Audi q3 at the moment. Build quality is amazing. I do wanna switch to Tesla, however the lack of uss sensors annoys me. Also seeing that the LED light strip is misaligned there is frustrating. I’m very conflicted hahaha
Oh please don’t make the mistake of. I used to drive a Lexus and the driving comfort is no comparison to my Tesla. I want to go back to. Lexus or Audi or Volvo

If it helps remember plenty of RUclips's and buyers expected the 2024 model 3 to have the tax credit, however due to changes in the IRA it lost it. Next year when the new model Y comes out, again, the IRA gets more strict...go read it. There is a strong possibility it to will lose the credit. It will all depend on how Tesla secures critical battery minerals and assembly. Sometimes it does not pay to wait. If you need a car now, and you love the 2024 model 3...buy it. If you can wait a year or two...wait.

Like you said if the 7500 tax credit goes away then it'd be better to just pick one up now. I see a free charging station 10min walk from my apartment hehehehe

I Was thinking to upgrade my model y suspension with unplugged luxury. Your model y suspension it's nearly such good like new model 3? It's better, it's worse?
My current setup on the model y feels the same as the new model 3 but I would say the model 3 is even more refined because the cabin is better insulated.

Do you know if the new standard range is 330 or is that the long range?
Long range is 341 not with the 18" wheels standard range is like 273

@@Sam-gs7ybactually, on the new model I saw a few videos where they tested the range of the long range and it matched the EPA rating. It might be because of the rating change in 2024

No they don't I just did a video on the 2024 and 2023 model Y and they have a different mechanism. Comes out from a similar place which is what I think you mean
It is sad that people in the US are getting ripped off by lack of EV options. We seriously need Chinese EVs. Tesla uses same parts made in China but why are we paying 50% more? That's why getting EVs without any tax credit is a non-sense.
As you close the door in the video I sit in my model y 22 and close my door and hear the difference
