I have owned performance BMWs for almost 30 years and have found them to be very high quality and fun to drive cars. My problem has been with the prices that the dealerships charge for services. I have an i8, with the butterfly doors, and I needed to replace the door struts after 7 years. The dealership quoted me $1000. I bought OEM struts on the Internet for $85 each and did it myself - it was easy. Two weeks ago I had the car in for an oil change and they said it was due for a new air filter. They wanted $250 for that! I bought the air filter for $32 and did it myself. That is why they are called stealerships.

That's the VR38DETT in the Nissan GTR. Godzilla! People don't like BMW and say it's crap because all they see are 20-something year olds driving them and beating them to hell, then selling them on the used market to suckers who have nothing but problems because they thought they found a sweet deal. However, if you go buy a BMW from a certified dealer or an enthusiast that knows the cars and actually learn about them and prepare yourself for the commitment of owning one, you're in for a treat. A well-maintained BMW will last a long time. My neighbor has two BMW's an E39 M5 (25 years old) and an E60 525 (15 years old), both run amazing and both are in amazing condition. the key to these cars is
    1) they need to live in a garage
    2) warm them up before you drive.
    3) plastic parts get brittle, spray the engine bay with plastic rejuvenation stuff and you should be ok!

My current BMW is an electric SUV made in Germany. It was purchased new and fully loaded including winter tires. I paid cash for it because debt sucks and I hate every form of it. The car rides extremely nice, it has no squeaks or rattles even after 1 1/2 years. The range is also great with it getting 480 km - 500+Km on 80% charge and about 350k in the Canadian winter. The car has more power than I need, 500+ Horsepower that I never get to use because of rules, regulations, and ethical reasons. The body underneath has carbon fibre, I can see this when I open the doors and it does look amazing. So far so good, the only thing I took it to the dealer so far was a recall for the airbag and I had the whole car wrapped in PPF at the start. @ArshAZ83 suspension is more important than aero and can help a car alot. but aero definitely makes a difference. driving those x5m and cybertrucks at 140 even though they have weight the lack of downforce makes it easier to steer off

I've had 3 bimmers so far , and they are amazing vehicles, only bad thing is mechanics see a euro and think they can charge an arm and a leg for maintenance and repairs, when upon doing them yourself you see that they are totally ripping you. Learn some basic wrenching and you'll have a good time with a used bimmer 👍🏾

No ceramic coating is bullet proof. It will still show signs of marring through a tunnel wash. It will also get contaminated from the environment. Scotty stick to mechanical advice.

Possibly. On the other hand my 3rd hand car 2006 was ceramic coated in 2006 and still looks brand new & perfect. Also took a eye from the motorway (the ones flush with the road) that flipped up from the front wheel and dinged the rear wheel arch and didn't even mark it, but dented the metal. That was in 2021. Brand was Supagard, so can't say I'm dissapointed.

I’ve owned nothing but Volkswagens, BMW and Mercedes-Benz over the last 25 years. The only major repair I had was on a Volkswagen Tiguan where I had to replace the timing belt after 150,000 miles. Other than that, I have never had a major repair with any of my vehicles. Perhaps it’s because I change my fluids on a regular basis and generally take very good care of my cars. If you do that, you will have very little issue with any vehicle. If you don’t, you will have issues with any vehicle. This is my experience over seven or eight cars.

I've owned several bmws. I've owned nearly every foreign car brand. I currently own a 4 series and a tundra. Bmw is by far been most reliable. Never been stranded. Toyotas left me stranded. Celica and previous tundra. Keeping my fingers crossed on this tundra. Toyotas are pure garbage nowadays. Most aren't even lasting 30k before the motors are crapping out. Although the new bmws are a lot more reliable than Toyota nowadays.

I never will buy a used performance car because wear is not covered under the warranty and hard driving can wear out an engine. I have always serviced and repaired my cars since 1968 including several total restorations. I consider car repair as a hobby.
