Actually tailgating under these circumstances is not such a bad idea. The lead car pushes the water out of the way for those following.

If you must drive through floods ,remove air filter cover or intake hose to stop water being sucked into engine,serious damage will occur.When water recedes simply reinstall what you disconnected

They are also able to watch RUclips and one might suggest able to realise that driving Poly the Polo through a lake is not the best idea.. I wonder if the insurance companies are paying out for cars that get trashed after driving through flood waters in broad daylight?
Real danger of being swept away inside your car.
2:10 Diesel engines have better chances of getting through water, but their intakes have to be raised. That is mostly with 4WD vehicles that have higher ground clearance. Actually even the petrol ones can go through if their air intakes are raised. But to expect cars to get through is mental.
Unless they're fully electric.

The one and only good thing about EVs ,I’ve noticed they cope with flooded roads very well .
@@willgooday The batteries have small vents. In a flood, water gets in, but does not flow out, relying on the battery heat to evaporate it. It can do damage, and lead to fires. A small risk, but not one that can be checked on.
It was a hybrid so probably went through on ev mode done it myself on a couple of occasions so the engine is in the off mode
