    • @brandishwar
      @brandishwar 7 лет назад +1

      Temperature drop would be unlikely or insignificant. Instead the fan operation would likely change, such that a lower fan speed was able to maintain a similar temperature. But given how good the thermal paste tends to be on newer cards, even that likely wouldn't change all that much.

    • @sinceRENEss

    Been using my Strix 1080Ti the last few weeks, absolute beast - especially with VR side of things (that's what I've bought mine primarily for) I've managed to get mine to 2.1Ghz which I'm pretty darn happy about too :D
    BTW, I agree with some comments about the cut away cam - I'd personally prefer it if it was only used for detail shots as when you're addressing an audience it can feel kind of odd. I sometimes do it when I do interview footage but depends :)
    Anyway, new place looks super awesome! :D

    I would like to see more of cooler testing - noise vs temps (for example card 1) on max load a jet engine sound and 70C; card 2) on max load barely audible and 71C... obviously 2) is better )... because let's face it there is absolutely zero point to test more than one 1080 Ti for benchmarks and even overklocking (or any other GPU of its kind)... all that these cards differ with is coolers efficiency and noise (and RGB placement - very important)

    • @lizyeastmark9299
      @lizyeastmark9299 7 лет назад +3

      exactly - no point counting those powerphases and pin connectors - it is not even a 1% performance difference in overclocking...

    • @rosebrown2271
      @rosebrown2271 7 лет назад +3

      I agree that noise/temps should be tested extensively, because all other, is just marketing BS in this generation (of gtx 10XX)... except for this ASUS case fan headers, it makes sense that the most hottest component in your system (the big ass GPU like gtx 1080+) controls the fans, not cpu

    • @SE09uk
      @SE09uk 5 лет назад

      I have a GTX1080TI EVGA based on a FE card its the FE cooler with a EVGA cover and better back plate and a Giggabyte GTX1080TI with their own cooler and cover
      and OMG the FE EVGA at 80% fan made no noise and 100% its like the case fans, But the other card is like a jet
      at anything over 60% fan its unusable so some blowers are way better than others and we need tests for that at 100% fan noise vs temp vs mhz

      Hakutaku you dont hear it with headphones on anyway. And you should be playing with headphones

    • @Pjater81
      @Pjater81 6 лет назад

      Depends on your setup, i got many diffrent so i can stand and play or with vr and today most have atleast 3 screens from 40-60 inch wich i got and 28 and others even a projector so if i want to lay down in a bunch of pillows in a big bed sofa a home theater with 7+ speakers is better than headphones.
      And i can bet money on you wont hear the graphic card since some specials like palit with 12cm fans who dont even start spinning before 50c degrees, all other fans in the case will sound more.

    • @alexswanson5002
      @alexswanson5002 7 лет назад +4

      Hipocrates R. the 1080 Ti is a completely different card from the 1080.(Check the Nvidia website) but yeah all of that "gaming" branding and stuff is generally just to get your attention, they all work about the same.

    • @misham6547
      @misham6547 7 лет назад +5

      Hipocrates R. OC/SC/SSC means that the card is clocked higher out of the factory which you can easily do yourself (unless the card is binned). But TI means that the card has more cores so it will perform better at the same clock speed. Hopefully this answer clears the names up.

    • @HipocratesR
      @HipocratesR 7 лет назад

      Misha M I get it, but I've seen RUclipsrs demonstrate higher end cards like these "Ti" performing less than the card model a step lower from them, so I'm curious about jayz2cents opinion on that.

    Nice video but you repeated a few things throughout the review (the 3.0 boost stuff and it hitting max 65°C). I don't know if it were errors on your part or on the script. I would have liked if it were more polished.

    quick note- when I put a water block on my rog strix 1080 vanilla, I was disappointed with the stock cooler, specifically that heat spreaders for the memory were inconsistent, some chips were completely covered and others only half covered. can't say I was thrilled with that cooler at all.

    That's what I like about EVGA. You can take the heatsink off - for water cooling or changing the GPU TIM - and it won't void the warranty.

  • @Mike504
    @Mike504 7 лет назад

    JayzTwoCents in the US it is illegal for a manufacturer to void your warranty if you take it apart unless you actually do damage in the process. But having the sticker isn't illegal.

    I have a 1080ti STrix OC edition, and my card stays nowhere near the high 50s or mid 60s when overclocked (even mildly)... Like my average with 60% fixed fan speed is around 75-78C which is ridiculous imo... My case is a Meshify C with 4x Noctua fans at 1200rpm... do I have to RMA or do I try to re-paste first?

    I believe the reason for the warranty sticker on the screw is that if you go with this card, then it's almost definite that you'll stick to air cooling. Why would you pay a hefty premium for such a huge cooler just to have it all removed? I think for watercooling you can just go with the FE which is cheaper and most of the custom coolers usualy fit to those the best.

    here's a tip, run your card at 80 for 5 mins, that sticker on the screw comes straight off and doesn't leave a mark, take card apart, and replace the sticker to the screw job done.
    done this on my 1070 strix and nobody would ever know!!

  • @elenchus
    @elenchus 7 лет назад

    I had a 1080 Ti Strix a couple weeks ago, but I didn't realize at the time that it's sort of pre-broken because they don't include three DP ports. A lot of 1080 Ti Strix owners are going to be using a triple monitor setup (perhaps not really a concern for the 1060 or 1070, understandably) and I think Asus really dropped the ball on this one. Gigabyte did it better with three DP ports and dual HDMI (and a single DVI). I just switched back to my Titan X Pascal.
    I guess if you happen to have two DP screens and one HDMI 2 screen, or vice versa, it would work out ok, but that seems like a pretty rare combination to me. Most people are going to use three of the same monitor.
    Anyway, just something to look out for people who are also using 3x4K setups.

    When it comes to warrenty and water cooling always talk to the manufacturer. Both XFX and EVGA have warrenty void stickers. However they will only void your warrenty if the PCB is damage (like from water).

    so youre going to ignore that the extra power headroom allows it to sustain its higher clocks more constantly? you were almost right in saying that all 1080ti's perform within margin of error from eachother. it is properly all of the AIB* cards perform close to eachother, as almost all of them perform 5-15% faster than the fe thanks to the better cooling and power delivery.
