Last year you helped me get an A in my Research Methods class, and this year you are helping me get another A in Finite Mathematics! Thanks a lot! I would love to see Khan Academy use your videos as a supplement for excel, you can help a lot of people if they find your video! I am going to mention it to them.
After 2hrs of surfing RUclips on how to calculate Standard Deviation, mean and variance I came across this video and my problem was solved within 4 mins. Thank you so much best video on RUclips.
+Akeer Atem Kuany If you get a chance like, share the videos this will help others find the videos faster. (www.Facebook.Com/PartyMoreStudyLess). Good luck in your classes too.
cheers
Thank you! As a Music major with no statistics background, this video saved me... Your help has been crucial in writing my MA thesis.
I just started probability and Statistics online. I've been so lost but your presentation help me to get clarity when it comes to the means and standard deviation. So thank you much!
OMG... I Love you!!!
I have been cracking my head for 8 hours on this. I've been in the books etc... As a last resort I started googling. After all the struggle you brought me relief.
THANK
YOU
BIG
TIME!!!!
Thank you for this video. I am a fraud analyst for a CNP merchant. I know fraud behavior, but I'm not the most educated on statistics, or most forms of math, in general. Understanding this method, and how it relates to rules-based fraud detection engines, and identifying fraud trends, are integral to my success. Thanks again. Quick, easy to understand, and a dry sense of humor. Everything I need in an instructional video.
Just wanted to say thanks - In grad school - taking my 4th research class - but in the past (a while ago!) I always did calculations using calculator or good ol paper and pencil - Trying to learn how to do the calculations in excel, and as a visual learner, this helped a LOT! Thanks again!
12 years later and still useful, thank you.
Very helpful and easy to understand. Makes much more sense than just reading the statistics textbook.
Way to go! Appreciate the mention, but you deserved all the credit.
Great suggestion! In practice, I do use the Excel functions. I give all the individual steps (the long way) because there are still professor who make their students calculate standard deviation the long way.
Thanks! These are useful formula's to have for students.
Thanks a lot for such an amazing video.
You made complex statistics looks easy.
Thanking you tube for bring world a global village, where knowledge sharing is so easy.
You are the BEST TEACHER.
thank you for the compliment! I do have several videos on how to use excel for statistics but nothing on Median mode and range. I think I will create those videos this weekend tho.
I would encourage you like MyBookSucks on FaceBook (see link in video description). This will help others find the educational videos and I will post links to the videos on median, mode and range.
After struggling with my homework for hours, this saved me!
Great point and you are right, I could easily use those excel formula's. The reason I don't is because there are knucklehead professors that still require students to calculations the long way.
You saved my life while doing my homework tonight. Great explanation and easy to understand. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much. I am very glad there are people like you out there who make these kind of videos to help others.
You helped me with my homework....which was to long and tedious to do by hand....which I'm use to doing. I have no clue how to use Excel. Thank you so much!!!
Hello Professor,
I love your youtube videos. Can you please make a video about the minimum variance of a two stock portfolio, and explain the role of each variable. You do an exceptional job explaining how each variable relates to one another.
Thank you again for making your lectures available to us.
That is great to hear. My goal is to make statistics a visual subject.
Good luck in your program as well and I wish you the best of luck. Since you had used paper and pencil, you are probably a bit older this time around. That is great because you are bringing a wealth of knowledge to your educational program.
And do like MyBookSucks on FaceBook (see link in video description). This will help me spread the word about the animations.
I found the mean (average) by typing =average which saves the step of finding the sum and count... Is that correct?
yes
Yesterday
It's correct for simple mean
THANK YOU SO MUCH- IT HELPED TREMENDOUSLY( GIVEN I HAD OVER 40 DATA POINTS). DID NOT WANT TO CALCULATE IT ALL MANUALLY
Bless your soul sir- this is so much simpler than my class.
U teach so easily and clear. Thank you
Thanks Beatrice for jumping in and answering the question.
BRAVO BRAVO YOU EXPLAINED IT SO CLEARLY AND EASY I PASSED MY MIDTERMS THANK YOU
i can't thank you enough, seriously God bless you for sharing this!
Finally found a tutorial that actually makes sense how to do this. Thank you very much!
Always great to hear -- you are very welcome.
Make sure you like MyBookSucks on FaceBook (see link in video description). This will help others find the educational videos.
You are very welcome. Make sure you like MyBookSucks on Facebook (see video description for link). This will help others find the educational videos.
Good suggestions. It is always a struggle for me to know how much detail to include or not include. I did add a link to another video (in the description of this video) where I do explain standard deviation and variance in a bit more detail. I would be curious to hear what you think about that video.
Thank you so much, saved my life with true mathematical efficiency!
P.S. ever thought of the name “statisfaction”?
You are very welcome! Make sure you like MyBookSucks on FaceBook (see link in video description). This will help others find the educational videos.
Thank you so much! Really helpful with my Respiratory Therapy computer concepts course
@afronight same reason as subtracting 1 when when we calculate the standard deviation. It is an adjustment to eliminate (or reduce bias). This is a topic I have skirted over in the past and perhaps I should do a video on this as well.
Watching in 2022, THANK YOU!! This helped me.
Thanks for telling me about the ^0.5 for square root. I could not figure out how to input it before!
@susham100 you are very welcome. I hope it helps you get a better grade in your statistics class and learn statistics too :)
You are very welcome. Make sure you like MyBookSucks on FB. See the link in the description above.
Also great to hear that my videos are helping students. Make sure you like MyBookSucks on FB (see link in video description), this will help others find the videos.
Thank you. The video was very clearly structured and done well. I was trying to do this on my own, you saved me a lot of work. Much appreciated.
+Roberto Figueroa Great to hear Roberto. Thanks for your kind words.
Thank you for your help. It clarified a lot of questions I had after my first statistics lecture.
@MightyGentlemen I am not sure I know what you mean, but when I generate numbers I will cut and paste the random numbers. BUT when I paste I paste values only (so I don't get the formula. Hope this helps.
@pavao123 I had to lower myself to use Excel on my Mac. You are right this works in Numbers and Scalc too. The bad news is many professors required Excel.
Thanks for the response:
Here are Excel formula:
STDEV(calculate sample standard deviation)
STDEVP(calculate population standard deviation)
No BS to the point stuff. Great Video! Thanks.
this helped me so much for a lab repot, thank you for uploading!
Great video. Clear and concise for my purposes.
I have seen so many videos and this one was the only one that actually helped me find the answer. Thank You ! ;0)
I have not seen that app at all. I did read the reviews and since it is only $4.99 it is not a big risk buying it and trying it out.
wouldent it be much simpler to just use the stdev excel funcion instead?
Damn right. Thank you for the tip. I used and got the same results
It also has different result than his procedure actually
@@mutator2056 you should check again
@@Noneofyobusinessdude This is excel 2009, it calculates things differently than more current versions.
Saved my life, thank you
It's really helpful. Learning step by step, easy to understand. Thank you!
The best video by far! Thank you for not sounding like a robot!lol
Thank you..it clearly describes how the standard deviation calculated using excel.
Thank you so much for this video. It really helped me get 100% on my homework
Yes there is... I provide the tutorial because many professors force their students to make the calculate the long way!
Good vid. But now I will try it on my own in an actual spreadsheet to see if i turns out the same way. Great explanation!
+Michael zma (m555zma) Good luck!
I got the same results!
Okay, but like this is already together I was hoping you would have put this together from a raw data set.
This might be the coolest thing I have ever seen. 😦
nice.....very easy to follow and understand....really appreciate this video
camiel johnson Great to hear and I always like hearing my videos are helping. I spending a lot of time creating them. Make sure you like our FB Page www.FaceBook.Com/PartyMoreStudyLess this will help others find the videos.
Great video and explanation.
You can also just type "=VAR.P" and then select the values of choice.
noam green you are right. I walk people through it step by step because some professor require their students do all the steps (old school like).
gotcha.
Thank you, such a great video. helped me with my lab report
God Bless you man , I understood every single part and it helped me out so much.
Amirali Lamehpour Great to hear and good luck in your classes.
Quick and effective! Thank you for simplifying this for us!
You really explain it the best
Thank you soooo much! This video helped me out so much in my statistics class, brilliant!
good to hear and good luck in your classes too. Make sure you like MyBookSucks on FaceBook (see link in video description). This will help others find the educational videos.
I just passed stat because of this guy #lifesaver
just one suggestion, it helps if you also explain why we need to square the given numbers, what does this number tell me "x-mean divided by the observations" .. then why we compute the square root
.. so not just showing the way of calculations but also explaining why each step is necessary
@PSNMarksmanSniper if you send me your problem I can give it a look over and perhaps help you.
Semper Fi!
Dear statisticsfun - YOU ROCK!!!
When you are calculating the sum for (C3:C10) what if mine did not equal 0? It has been awhile since stats and I don't remember if that's means there was an error? Thanks for your help! You are amazing!
THIS HELPED ME SO MUCH FOR MY CHEM CLASS THANK YOU SIR!!!
Thank you so much for posting this. It helped me tremendously with a measurement assignment.
Yes, I have sorted the information in descending order, but it is not necessary to do that.
You are very welcome. Curious to know the subject of your graduate studies.
Another way, if nobody has mentioned it yet, is by using the descriptive statistics add on, by going through Data>Data Analysis. It only works for Excel on PCs, however, so even if you have a Mac with the most updated Excel, for some stupid reason you will not have Data Analysis.
@katie8h I think you must have sort of error somewhere because it should sum to zero (0).
Great to hear! Make sure you like MyBookSucks on Facebook (see the link in the video description).
Thank you so much for this tutorial, really helped me to do well in my Mathematics project :)
That's such a helpful and informative video!!!!
Awesome video and easy to follow!!! Thank you
Thank you very much! You just saved me about 2 hours of work. : D
Krystal Lioness You are very welcome. I appreciate it that you took the time to let me know my videos are helping you. I spend a lot of time creating them and the feedback is always appreciated. Good luck in your studies too.
statisticsfun Thank you!
Thanks. Very clear explanation. May I use your work to show my students? With acknowledgement of your work. Please
The exceul formula for standard deviation is for a sample not a population. The formula's are very similar and the sample reduces n by 1 where the population does not. As the sample becomes large this reduction of one has very little impact.
Excellent Explanation. Thanks for the video
you, sir, are a lifesaver! thank you so much
Easy to follow and really helpful!
Great to hear and good luck in your class. Help me get the word out and tell your fellow classmates about MyBookSucks and like us on FaceBook see the link in the description in the video.
GOD BLESS YOU! YOU SAVED MY LIFE!
Thanks, man for the solution, so helpful for me
Well, I think ANOVA would work. I have an entire play list on ANOVA. Including how to calculate it with Excel and ANOVA. A t test should work too depending on what you are trying to accomplish.
thank you very much. You were extremely helpful and to the point! I followed along with no problems :)
ruclips.net/video/V3m8NPpKKQI/видео.html this is inferential for as statistics and probability
Thank you this has been extremely helpful and soooo clearly explained !!!!!!!!
it is a nice video, but to make it easier you can just type "=var.s(Cell:Cell)" and it will do all of that in one step, for the variance of course, but the same applies for stdev.s (standard deviation for a sample)
Fantastic! You made it seem so simply!
You are very welcome!
thank you. this video is very clear and it helped me with the calculations.
