I think it should have been noted that there are two types of standard deviation: sample and population. The method used here is sample standard deviation because it divides using n-1. Population standard deviation divides using n. Which method used depends on the data being analyzed.

Meghan, Yes I do my own animation.
I use a variety of different software including photoshop, illustrator, HTML5, Final Cut, GarageBand and a few other products. Each video takes me a long time to create. My rule of thumb is each minute of video takes about 12 hours to create, so a 7 minute video takes me about 84 hours of development time.

The -1 is called losing a degree of observation if you're calculating a SAMPLE variance. If you DO have the entire population, you should/can use n for the population variance.

Modern (postwar 2077+) humans actually enjoyed the way you primitive humans once spent hours endlessly watching video after video to learn rather than just instantly having the knowledge on demand. They feel like they got a bigger reward from putting in the extra work.

Very useful and well explained way of calculating standard deviation and variance. Helped me tremendously understand these concepts that my professor made very confusing.

Thank you so much Sir! You just maid my AP Stats homework SO much more understandable. All of the equations where so confusing, and other videos didn't explain the equations, or have them at all, but yours made so much sense! Thanks again!

Kaleigh Lawrence Great to hear and good luck in your AP class too. If you get a chance like my facebook page (www.Facebook.Com/partymorestudyless), share, like, because this helps others find the videos.
