- In this video, we'll learn about five different measures of variability: range, sample standard deviation, sample variance, population standard deviation, and population variance. We'll begin to see a few formulas for these measures of variability, which we'll get some practice with in the next video.
I've watched many videos, and attended many statistics lectures, this is the first time I truely understand what variance and standard deviation are. Thanks a lot.
I’m very glad it’s helpful!
Absolutely phenomenon explanation. There is a famous saying that there are no bad students, only bad teachers and you sir, are a great one. Thank you
Agreed!
It blows my mind that such excellent information is freely available and yet it gets 1/1000th of the views. Thanks for the refresher!
I agree with Rani Gunawanti. There are so many videos to teach you how to calculate, but there are not many videos that help explain the concept behind it so that you can understand. You did a great job. Thank you!
I learnt statistics before, I was really confused then. I found your videos 2 years later, and now I'm clear about what I'd been learning! Thank you!
Thanks so much for actually explaining WHY we need these measures and providing examples with real-life applications! Unfortunately, most teachers just throw some formulas at you and require that you learn them. However, this leads to a very shallow understanding of the topics and only teaches you how to memorize formulas/rules. So grateful for the videos you make! Keep it up!
youre the best. im doing a math bridging course in university, and i was completely lost until i found your explanations on standard deviation and variance. thank you so much
I had to watch the video multiples of many times to get it, but it finally kicked in. It is difficult because most of us will never use it in everyday life, but researchers, engineers and chemists will.
I'm taking an Intro to Econometrics course, and your Stats videos have been a lifesaver for statistics core review. Really appreciate it!
Happy to help. :)
This guy is doing god's job.
Great information, presentation and clarity. Thanks for sharing
Thanks so much Dr. Daniel. You are my hero.
I'm taking a summer probability and statistics for engineers course, and your videos are helping a bunch. Thank you for sharing!
What separates your video from all the others is that you answer the question Why Is This Useful? Thank you so much for this video.
We need more teachers like you. Very few explain the concept like this.
I totally agree!!!!!!!
Thank you! This was very helpful for a project I'm working on. You have a calming voice and you break things down in a manner that is very understandable. Also, love your handwriting!
This is so nice for anyone who is curious. Thank you.
This is amazing. The work up from mean, range, to standard deviation, really helps
You do us all a great service... thank you!!
I REALLY DON'T WANT TO SOUND OVERWHELMED but this was the most simple and easy tutorial I loved, it made so much sense and it felt so interesting. Can't even realize how fast it ended wanted more of it at the end. Loved this keep teaching 📙
Thank you so so so much for your videos! I loved how you explained how each measurement would be relevant, and it’s real world application! It’s been a huge help.
Happy to help!
Wow, very well done.
Thank you so much! This Stay-at-Home mom is getting her MBA and the data analysis course is super challenging for me. You made it very simple. Awesome.
Happy to help!
Thank you so much for these videos. They are amazing and I understood them thoroughly. Please keep up the great work!!!
Thank you so much for these videos. You have made stats so easy. I was dreading to do this topic, now I think its not that bad after all. Thanks again
Am so happy coming across this lecture... May God bless u for saving me from confusion... 😁😁😁
as soon as I got into the video I saw the other side of mathematics apart from the formulae . Very good explanation
Thank you! I needed something to remind me simple statistics for my project and that is exatly what I needed.
this really helps me, especially that we are in online school
You made me fall in love with statistics. Thank you so much 💓.
The best video, I have watched on why standard Deviation is important to calculate. Thanks for this. Please explain other statistical terms in the same manner.
YOU SAVED MY NEW BORN CAREER!!! THANK YOU!!! lolll
very easy to understand. You give very interesting examples which makes the whole concept easy to understand.
I am so glad that I found your videos. By all means, this is the best. Many Thanks
Hi , I am unable to find the next video please
man great video! Really helped me ALOT!
Your explanation is crystal clear. Thank you
Wooowwwwwwwwwww.... Great way of explantion and greatest contents tooo........
Great video!! Thanks Daniel!
Awesome explanation!! Thank you!!
Wow explaination.... Loved learning the concept rightly. Thank you!
Phenomenal explanation! Thank you
For a non math student this was soooo great!
hello Professor Daniel, this video really helped me a lot, Im taking Psych course right now.
beautifully described - thanks
Very well explained, thank you
And you speak so clearly, it helps
Very well explained. Well done Daniel👍
Thank you so much! I've been wanting a better explanation of it and this video helped me understand it a lot!
My pleasure!
This was so helpful! Thank you very much!!
Great video. Thank you. Subscribed
Excellent explanation well done sir!
This is excellent. thank you so much
Thank you for such an informative video, easy to understand 🙏
Great Job Sir
This is so obvious a benefit In analysis of anything. Should be a minimum requirement in high school.
Nicely explained.. awesome
Excellent explanation
Thanks sir
hello ... very soft, nice , and easy explanation
great video! it helped me a lot with grasping these concepts. i've never understood them before, i get lost in the language.
Thanks you sir love From india
Just a minute in and wow great explanation
1. explain how you determine if a graph has high or low variability
2. Explain how you determine if a graph has high or low statistical bias.
3. Explain the difference between stratified random sampling and cluster sampling.
So valuable. Thank u
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you
Very nice and clear information. Thanks for this video. Please give me a link for the next video Thanks
It was so useful 👌
Helps me to understand the topic from my prof
nice video liked it
really nice.😘👍
Hello, may I ask? If the IQ scores of 50 individuals are measured and recorded, and majority of the scores are near the median, what would you say about the variability? Thank you
You got one more subscriber.. :D
thanks
Just a question : How did you come with the percentages (about time stamp 7:20)
THANK YOUUUUU
I understand that we should square the standard deviation to get variance.. But how does that help? what will happen when we square the standard deviation and how does it help in measuring variability?
very good
How you calculated the percentage? Is it predetermined?
WHAT I LEARNED
🟩Importance of variability: we can track/see the consistency between data. It can also help make real life decisions regarding reliable data. 1:31
🟩Measure of variance: How does the scores/data from a dataset differs from each other. The measures of variancem describes how spread /clustered the scores jn the dataset are.
🟩3 Measures of variance: 2:12
1. Range 2:38
2. Standard Deviance 4:39
3. Variance 8:08
🟩RANGE
- (pros): the simplest type of measure of variance. You simply have to subtract the highest value to the lowest value.
- (cons): it cannot describe fully what's happening on the other data, since it only focused on the highest and lowest value. You can MISS other info in the data.
Ex: two dataset can have the same range but different data or scores + different shape in the distribution graph.
🟩STANDARD DEVIATION
- describes the typical (standard) amount the the scores deviate / differs fr. The mean
-(Pros): It gives additional info on the data. It help us see what is common and not common.
- there are two types: Population standard deviation(ō)and Sample standard deviation(s)
🟩VARIANCE
- the square of standard deviation (SD²)
- it could either be: Population or sample variance. (Ō² , s²)
Thank you 🙏 😭
What if some of the values are negative, then the CV is also negative, but should it be converted to absolute number?
Good
when do you make the sequel
how did we get to 68%, 95 %, 99.7 % ?
Pick medication A and switch to B if the results are suboptimal.
Where is the next video? Tnx
shawt out sa mga binigyan ni maam juvy ng link
😚
"good for you. not very impressed". I will do better
Great explanation!! Thank you
nice video liked it
Thank you
