  • ‪@MFEGoingDeep‬ through the narrows and into the big part of Sebec lake was the destination for today’s exploration. Searching the bottom in 140’ to 160’+ of water we encountered several species of smaller fish that aren’t necessarily something you see very often and especially not where they’re being observed. I’m not positive but I believe there are Banded killifish, three spine stickleback, and a sculpin which is pictured in the thumbnail for the video. As you can see depending on when I spot one of these fish while maneuvering the drone I may not have time enough to react and position the camera in a manner to get a good look before everything gets stirred up on the bottom and have to keep things moving forward. It’s neat watching them bury themselves in the muck and dart around. It certainly gives a different perspective of what some different jigging spoons and other lures that are fluttering and bouncing off the bottom stirring up the muck are imitating! #explore #rov #fishing #maine

Wow 🤩 I guess I live under a rock, I never knew there was such a thing as an underwater drone. Love it.

Have you considered using your underwater drone to search for the steamer boat "Marion" that was sunk in Sebec Lake's Bucks Cove?

Heard stories as a kid that there is a steamer wreck somewhere at the narrows but not sure if that’s true or not

The last couple of times I’ve gone through there I hadn’t noticed anything on my fish finder that would indicate something like that but doesn’t mean it’s not there. I was thinking of taking some time to look through that area anyways this gives me another reason to do so thank you!

AWESOME! I’m surprised there’s absolutely nothing on the floor. Would love to see some more in different parts of the lake. Thank you

I completely agree with you, I’ve been surprised too how barren some of these deeper parts of various lakes have been. I will for sure be doing more exploring here, I know I’ll spend some time looking around in the narrows and open to suggestions as well!

Friend of mine turned me on to these rovs he uses them in his TikTok videos. I’ve ordered one but due to high demand haven’t seen it yet. Pretty eager to do some exploring and recovering. I’ve lost a scallop drag in 19 fathom I’m going to attempt to locate as well as a 3 wheeler I lost in a local pond in 1989 lol

I’ve had a lot of fun with mine! I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. I plan on getting to as many different places as I can so if I come across a 3 wheeler I’ll let you know! Lol

Our deep lake basin's look barren because of the thick soft layers of silt constantly building up. I was surprised to see so many Sculpin.

I was too! That soft silt makes a good hiding place for them.
