  • @MFEGoingDeep adding a new location and a couple new species of fish to the list! This was my first ever visit to North Pond, my hope was to film some Northern Pike which the Belgrade chain of lakes is known for after they were discovered to have been illegally introduced decades ago. As in most cases where this occurs they have established themselves and are thriving. Although it is of course devastating to see the naturally occurring fishery forever affected; many folks are taking advantage of this new opportunity and they are becoming a favorite target for some fishermen as these large apex predators can grow to impressive sizes and provide hard pulling fights. I was surprised to come across a school of Crappie, another non-native species to the area as I didn’t realize they were in this pond. Other than that Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass and a Sucker round out the fish species we see on this trip.
If you haven’t subscribed to the channel yet I would greatly appreciate your support and as always thanks for watching! 👍🐟

Love to see what’s in Annabessacook Lake, I know we have pike, both bass, pickerel, crappie, perch. But I’d be curious if you catch view of the bigger ones down deep.

I’ll have to keep that one in mind! I’m not familiar with it. I’m sure some of those big pike head down to the depths during this warmer weather!

Anything from Pleasant Pond in Caratunk Maine? So many great lakes in that area. Its very deep too. Locals say 200 feet plus

The fish seem super curious about that drone. I think ocean game would feel the same. Id be very interested to see a Drone on the floor of Jefferies Ledge just off shore of Gloucester Mass. Seeing a Blue Fin Tuna hit a live bait would be EPIC!

Sure would! I haven’t done much beyond freshwater areas in Maine but you never know!

Very cool! Those northys are nice clean tasting meat if you can get all the bones out. After you fillet them, just use pliers to pull those small rib bones. Good vid, thank you!

Surprised you didn't encounter more smallmouths among the rocks. Have fished North Pond often on vacation.

I really wasn’t sure what to expect and I had never been here before. I pretty much worked my way around the island. Not sure if it was a bit early for more smallmouths to be in that area or not as this was in mid April.

Another nice underwater video. Was this one done around the island at the North end by the stream?

I fish a lot for crappie and those look nice. Do you recall what area they were in? Thanks. I subscribed to your channel. I fly a Drone and have a YT channel. Just use my name. Orange circle with a W

Thank you! I’ll check it out 👍 east side of the island a branch broke off a big pine tree on that side, you can barely see it sticking up out of the water close to shore. They were sticking pretty close to that and definitely looked like some slabs in the bunch!
