  • Today, I will be showing you guys how to install a board and batten accent wall. I’ll be using 3.5” x 0.5” MDF for the main boards and 2” x 0.5” MDF for the top board. I’ll then caulk all the seems and give it a nice paint job at the end. Be sure to scroll down in the description for a calculator I made specificity for you! The calculator will show you how much space you need between each board. This DIY project only took me an afternoon to complete! Good luck! You'll nail it!
    Hey guys my name is Blake also known as Nailed it here on RUclips and I make videos about DIY projects.I hope you guys enjoy the video and let me know if you have any questions about it in the comments and I will do my best to answer them. I hope you learned something today and saved some money in the mean time. Also don't forget to nail that like button for the RUclips algorithm! ;)
    This is a new channel but more content will be coming soon! If you have any video suggestions please leave them in the comments!

    This is a wonderful tutorial, and it makes me feel confident I could give it a try in my own home. Out of curiosity, do you think preexisting trim could be left in place instead of doing a second horizontal board? Or would that look odd? The trim I have is the same as your trim that you removed.

      I personally think that it would look a little odd because the square part of the new trim would hit the top of your base board and stick out. It’s obviously completely up to you but I think you would like the look of it better if you replaced the baseboard at the bottom! It also is pretty easy to do and wouldn’t cost much more in the end for another board! Hope that helps! Great question! Let me know how it turns out if you end up doing it!

    Do you have to remove the baseboard ?

    This is the 3rd video of yours I have watched in a row. I had to watch the board and batten video because I just finished my board and batten project very recently and uploaded the video to RUclips like an hour ago. Crazy! Anyway, it comes out Friday. Check it out and I’d love to hear your feedback. We both started our channels around the same time. Looks like you got a little more steam than me, great job! It’s nice to find someone who is in a similar niche as I that has a similar sub count. I say we see who gets to 100,000 subs first! Haha 😆.

    • @BlakeHQ
      @BlakeHQ  2 года назад

      Sorry I didnt see these until now! Sometimes, I dont get notifications! No the boards were made out of MDF so I didnt need to sand anything down!

    😉It's ezier than l imagined‼️
    What would happen if we skipped the caulking step❓

    • @BlakeHQ
      @BlakeHQ  2 года назад

      You would just have hairline cracks where boards meet! The caulk just makes it look a little cleaner!

      It should be down in the description! If you can’t find it you can find it here!
      Also, you will need to download it and edit your own file! If you can’t figure it out let me know!
