    Here is a terrific march for young players written in the traditional British style. The opening strains are folk-like in nature with underlying modal harmonies, while the stately trio is reminiscent of the processional style of Elgar and other British composers. The “New Forest” refers to a region in southern England established as a royal hunting preserve by William the Conqueror around the year 1079, which has remained largely unchanged since ancient times.

    Playing this as an eight grade flute. We played new castle march last year so we call this one it’s cousin since it’s the same vibe and the same composer😂

      @@kidosmilan3717 how’s 9th grade now? Assuming you didn’t get held back obviously
      (Also they legitimately stopped us mid-song because it went so bad; low brass was fine tho)

    I know it is the same composer but there are many elements that sounds like his Newcastle March.

    • @siyg
      @siyg 3 месяца назад

      Yeah I thought the beginning sounded a lot like Newcastle. The very beginning, the low brass and percussion parts leading into the clarinets and then takes a repeat and adds. The middle part with the clarinets and euphoniums sounds really similar too
