I have worked construction for 29 years in Wisconsin. Everyone bitches and avoids the cold at work but then spends the weekends OUTSIDE deer hunting, ice fishing, snowmobiling, etc.
Ever been roofing in the winter? I have, but and it sucks ass! 2 cabins at "breezy point" one December, I'll give ya 3 guesses how that went. One decent sized tourist cabin the following winter because it was "for a friend". The following winter was 2 duplexes. In January, in Northern Wisconsin. No ladders on the job that year, we just climbed up the damn snow mounds! I quit the next fall.
That was friggen hilarious I'm gonna have to use that glove trick😂 at work when boss is staying warm all day in a heated excavator while everyone else works in the freezing temps and wind strong enough to rip plywood out of your hands and whip it a 100'

Haha Thank god we use these big diesel forced heaters so our frack iron don’t freeze A crew builds like little Teepee’s around the wellheads it’s always like 100 degrees under that and during the stage we take one of the tubes off and huddle infront of it it’s not to bad unless you get soaked then you’re fucked till crew swap.

I install lightning rods, I never could decide what was worse, working in frigid temps fighting the wind, or being on a barn roof heated by the summer sun.
Construction in the cold is bad, but try working on the cold ground underneath a truck that you can't get in the garage because the transmission is shot, and you have to do things to it that you can only do with bare hands. Then you finally finish the job 2 hours later and find out what you fixed was only part of the problem
