      i am 65 and worked in some sort of construction for many years and never saw anyone close to that tacklebox character. that personality simply does not do actual manual labor but prefers careers like hair stylist or office manager. not that all who do that sort of work are anything like this guy but generally fluffy guys take on fluffy jobs.
      have you run into these type workers on job sites because if you have not then it makes no sense using a training video of people like that.

    Electrical tape, an electrician’s best first aid kit. Literally used it on Wednesday.
    I’ve been at a job where it was mandatory to stretch before work. It was worth it just to watch the old timers moan and groan trying to reach their feet. Oh God, I laughed my ass off every morning.

    • @cousinzeke4888

      I have to stretch every day, it's funny finding out who's been drinking when we have to stand on one leg.

    • @xMattBinghamx
      @xMattBinghamx Год назад +2

      Every time I hear "electrical tape" it makes me think of this how-to channel that gave really bad advice. He said it's called electrical tape because it conducts electricity. 🤣 Can't remember what the channel was called but it was pretty good if you understood it was a joke and not actual advice.

    • @TheSpicyLeg
      @TheSpicyLeg Год назад +6

      @@xMattBinghamx I can always tell when an electrician has used tape, and when someone else has. It’s an open secret.
      The normal and most common use of tape is wire pulling. Especially on bigger wire, like feeds. An electrician will always start the wrap with the tape backwards (sticky side facing up) and then flip the tape so the sticky side is down. That way, when you’re removing the head, the tape doesn’t stick to the wire. They’ll also give you a buddy tail, when they’re done wrapping the tape the spin the tape before tearing it so you can grab the tail to start undoing the tape instead of trying to find the end.
      Of course, you can use tape to safe off live conductors of lower voltage, but that’s not common unless the electrician knows the the conductor is inaccessible and/or temporary. The better way is to wire nut the conductor and tape it so it can get knocked off easily.
      Lastly, tape is used to mark phases. A phase black, B phase red, C phase blue. There’s other color codings (orange for a high leg, for example) and wire colors to mark other voltages at a glance. It’s why you’ll see brown, orange, yellow, and gray in like hospitals, to mark 277 volt lighting circuits.

    I grew up blue collar and went to college because of experiences with old timers like this. Although back then it was much worse.
    I'm not sure the grass is greener, because on one side you work for thieves and liars, and on the other you work for your high school football coach for the rest of your life.
    One thing I have found in the white collar world is that those of us who came from blue collar family backgrounds tend to find one another and stick together, and the other people often tell me I am too honest and direct.
    Unfortunately, there rarely is a "happy" medium, and I find both cultures to be taken to ridiculous extremes as a point of pride.
    The only thing I can say for myself is that I couldn't swing a hammer to save my life, but every time I mashed my fingers I kept working as soon as I was able to stop writhing on the ground in pain.
    Because I didn't want to disappoint my dad.
    I miss you, dad.

    I've worked in construction since I was little with my whole family and now I'm in a construction trades class at 17 and I gotta say some guys know what they are doing and get the job done while others suck at nailing headers💀
