    Tip:
    When replacing struts, it will save you potentially lots of headache to disconnect the Lower Control Arm like they did here. Other installations show disconnecting the UCA and CV Axle. When re-installing the CV Axle you run the risk of destroying the IWE hub actuator.
    Wish I would have known this before doing my install...

    The truck is looking good. Thanks for showing the control arm drop method. That seems so much easier than breaking it from the upper ball joint. And eliminates the possible damage to the IWC.

      @@NoahStage3 I just put in the 6112/5160 and the spc uca’s. Took it on a 1000 mile trip and it seems the ride is super bouncy up and down almost like bucking on paved highways . Any idea what that may be or cause that it’s a 2018 f150 supercab and the struts are set at the 2” mark . Any info is greatly appreciated.

    • @NoahStage3
      @NoahStage3 3 года назад

      @@ddsrealtree19 The Bilstein's do stiffen the ride a bit in any application, but in my experience they shouldn't feel excessively bouncy. Did you also add new wheels and tires when you did the install? Often times tire shops will overfill new tires when they mount and balance them so they're sitting around 65psi instead of something more comfortable like 40psi.

    • @ddsrealtree19

      @@NoahStage3 I did get new tires I got the falken wildpeaks in 285/75/17 right now they’re about 45lbs I believe . I knew it was going to stiffen but it’s excessive up and down bouncing or almost feels like the rear fighting the front. When installing without removal of the lca did you have to finagle the bolt holes of the strut and lca normally I had to use a spud bar to get them aligned while trying to pry them forward a bit. Could the ucas be a factor maybe not having torqued them with the whee on the ground? I just jacked up the lca with the wheel off to torque them

    I'm planning the same front 6112 strut kit change on my 2020 and watched atleast 10 videos but this is the first where I have seen the LOWER CONTROL ARM being removed for access. It looks much simpler. Why are others removing the Uppers , because of the Bilstein installation instructions call for it that way ?
    If you remove the LOWER CONTROL ARM that would really throw off any alignment. Would that make it drive horribly to a alignment shop but just safe enough to get you there ?
    I would atleast mark the bolts or cams to get them reassembled close to how they came apart.

    Love the look. A question. When someone balances new tires and puts those little weights in places around the rim, are those normally put on the outside so they are seen, or on the inside so unseen? I don't see any on those wheels in this video, but I do see them on the wheels after Discount Tire just installed my new all terrains. Thanks.

    How does this Bilstein suspension setup compare in ride quality to the fox 2.0 on y'all's new 2022? I would only probably do 0.5"-1" lift, hoping it would save me some bottom travel over maxing out to 2". In Ohio we have a lot of potholes...

    I also have a 2020 F-150 and want to put the Bilstein 6112's in set for a 2" lift to level it and my question is what about the Upper Control Arm ?
    You stayed with the original UCA and I assume I can to since it's the same 2020 truck and shocks installed. This has been holding me up wondering about the UCA. I saw another 2020 owner install the same 6112's and he said he changed his UCA because of clearance issues. I'm going to stay with the OEM UPPER CONTROL ARMS and keep an eye on the clearance to the coils.
    Moving on !

    As other comments and videos state.. most others show to pull vacuum and take out the CV to avoid damage.
    Would love to just drop the LCA and leave it in like this video shows. Just want the lesser of two evils..

    • @dubcityfx4841
      @dubcityfx4841 Год назад

      Yes you will. Going to a larger tire will result in your actual speed being higher than the speedometer indicates. It will also effect your odometer as you will accrue mileage slower since the truck thinks it’s on stock 32” tires.
