I dehydrate all of my food and I typically carry 7 - 10 pounds for a 5 night/6 day trek. I typically carry one of your meals (DELICIOUS!). Given that you all carried about 5 pounds more than I do I see no reason why I can't do the same. Excellent vlog!
I love living in the PNW (Enumclaw) i stumbled upon your channel via a Dan Becker video. This type of information is exactly what I've been looking for. Really appreciate all the work you do to get this information to the masses. Hopefully ill be doing this hike next year. Happy hiking!!!
Food talk starts at 12 minutes. My wife and I agree. The packaged meals are a turn off. I find difficult forcing myself to eat freeze dried re-hydrated meals after a hard day of hiking. We did WCT in 2013, lucked out with no rain. Rain can end a person's hike on that trail, but WCT also avoids the risks of alpine trekking (altitude sickness, snow, exposure, grizzly bears).
Love seeing you do this. Used to guide youth at risk on the WCT. AND we didn't have ready to purchase dehydrated meals in those days. Lots of our meals were very similar to your meals I am enjoying watching your vids and LOVE to have a place to refer people too!
wow... as you walked along this beach eating amazing food and enjoying life, did you know that what is thought to be one of the smallest tectonic plate in the world was sliding under the North American plate just below your feet? Just looking at the geology in that area would keep me busy for years. the rocks and crevasses long which you walked are the remains scrapped from the top of the once very large Juan de Fuca plate.
Very cool trail. I don’t think I would try it at my age but glad you were able to enjoy it while you can. I really liked the variety and creativity in your menu, well done. It looks like snap peas are about the best for longevity. I picked up some TVP but haven’t tried it yet. I think tacos are going to be the first test. Did you individually carry snacks? Fresh trail snacks are the best. Nothing beats a fresh apple or a orange three or four days into a trip. I imagine the fresh seafood was the best ever. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
Ladders and roots and rain, oh my!
Great video, love the combination of the adventure and the cooking. Thanks for sharing

I also break my meals down one step further- Hot and Cold. So Brk/lunch/dinner I have cook and non-cook options.
So glad you enjoyed the island!! The chia bomb is one of my favourite recipes of yours.
glad you are enjoying

Hey JA, check out BC ferries. Not a direct option but it does connect.
One question, will you invite me to one of your trips? 😋😉✌🏼

Lol a permit... Never have, never will. There are easy ways to avoid and get away with it. I could never pay to be able to walk in my back yard...
You do you J but I strongly disagree
