Excellent, as always! One issue with titanium pots is the immediate heat transfer, in and out. You can overcome this by using a pot cozy. In this case, as soon as the ingredients are cooked through, remove the pot and cover in the cozy. Then you can quickly toast the tortillas - and add the hot filling that has time to blend the flavors. Saves fuel, too. One other option: using either Fritos or Doritos, simply crush them in the bag - and add the filling to the bag. That is, skipping the tortillas! This is known as a "walking taco" on the fair circuit.
I love that these tacos were so tasty with only 3 main ingredients. If I was going on a biiig longg hike, I would add some flaked beans, cornmeal/grits, TVP or powdered eggs. And cheese. I want some melty cheese on these.
In prep for this summer, I just tried this at home. Didn't have beer, so I just used water, and even without the beer this was outstanding. Seriously good. Absolutely going into my pack this summer.
Awesome idea. I've never heard of anyone cooking pork rinds. I'm going to experiment with this idea at home and get my recipe figured out for the trail. Thanks.
Wow and yum. I make chicharrones con chile at home and never thought of making some when hiking or camping. I would even take some premade Spanish rice and add in the tortilla. Fantastic idea!
Chef, I tried your pot pie in a jet boil this weekend in Maine. Went with roasted garlic and herb chicken from starkist and libbies has a small plastic container for peas that I drained then added. Topped off with ground black pepper and 4 of the small croissant rolls you pick up in grocery. Didn’t use the jet boil as I made a double batch in a 2qt MSR pot on a pocket rocket. It turned out fantastic. All adults on our scout camp out wanted the recipe. It’s going in our Troop cookbook.
Too many goals [9]. Here's a better list of goals: 1) High calories per grams. 2) Tastes adequate/good. 3) Grain-free & Kosher. (OK, a few hikers might not need goal #3).
Come on a trip with me next year! Where do you want to do hiking? Let me know here: my.trovatrip.com/public/l/survey/chef-corso-oru

"Toast is not bread, bread is not toast", as a german I strongly agree to that

Another masterfully crafted episode, you nailed it once again my friend!
Great recipe and looks delicious so it's now on my list to try when I go camping next.

cheers H! It's so good for being nothing.
Great base that can easily be modified to add whatever flavors pne could want. Thanks, Chef!
Looks great! Never thought of that. Thanks so much.

Love it! And great mods.
Great fun food! Plus, you can use your Fritoes as fire starters too. Double duty LOL! (Where is isn't so dry)
Good call!

Good man
REI has mini salsa verdes! Love the content btw
Dude, that looks bomb... so, trying this..
🙌
Could the pork rinds be rehydrated before cooking to save on fuel?
worth a shot
I find flour tortillas NEED to be toasted. I find them heavy on the stomach and have a have cooked texture.
you are awesome
you have best hiking trial in the first frames for the title on the video, love the recipe though :)

@@ChefCorso Mostly because of requirement #3.
