Some of these meals are great when you're further into your trip, especially when you've gotten into a rhythm. They add variety both in terms of eating experience as well as having a new activity to add to your daily routine.

Fun options. Really cool for a short trip and I think it's particularly interesting for car campers who do have some access to refrigeration and don't need to be so weight concerned. But one of the major hidden costs in this is going to be fuel consumption. You're going to use so much more fuel cooking like this than boiling and shutting off your stove. Probably not for extended trips.

We love your meals! This is a great one. When doing any of these cream/sauce type foods I often add nutritional yeast for the creaminess, protein content and savory flavor profile.

Love your recipes! We love your approach to backpacking recipes. We never ever bought prepackaged meals. But our repertoire was a little limited. We’ve taken many of your ideas and added them to our plans. We were so happy to find your channel!

Wow, that looks delicious! I wish the company that made Meat Shredz pork, also made a beef version. Meantime, I would love to see what you can do with the Pork Meat Shredz. I love it straight up, dry, right out of the package or rehydrated for a sandwich or burrito. If they can figure out a beef version, it would be awesome!

The chef said the Dijon mustard was left over from his HelloFresh package. Thought it strange that a trained chef uses a package food service. Haha!

@8:30 just causally pouring boiling water into packet while holding the bottom. . . Little to no fear in doing that, yeah you can tell he's been a chef for awhile.

Excellent idea here, guys. I like the idea that you can control what goes into the meal, and up the beef, or up the mushrooms, etc. I mean the dehydrated meals are darned clever and have been for some time now, but the companies have to sell at a reasonable price and make a profit, so they can't include a lot of the protein component (beef, cheese, etc). So I do like the chefs idea here.

Hello! I recently found this channel and love this series. I am preparing for a thru hike of the AT in 2023 and will be trying some of these recipes during my prep hikes. I have a question though. What is that pot size your using in these videos? It looks pretty large for a thru hike.

I would think you can prepare this meal similar to packaged meal, boil the water first, then add ingredients stir a few times over 15ish minutes and let it rehydrate and cook with residual heat from boiling water. Would that work?

Also your Instagram, Twitter and Facebook links in the description don’t work. Would love to give you a follow!
Edit: I see the links work in your channel About page, but all your recent videos’ descriptions links are broken.

When we go into the Boundary Waters, we usually cosy our homemade dehydrated meals to save on fuel...either single packets or pot.

You keep saying dehydrated meal over and over again. Do you actually mean freeze dried meal? Or is it really dehydrated? They are two COMPLETELY different things and so I’m struggling to understand what you mean.
