I got one of the trail guides recently from one of my subscription boxes. I was pleasantly surprised by the menu and am going to share it with a local Scout to help improve their outdoor cooking game. Awesome video today, and I am excited to try this “salad.”
A nice knife and good stove, is absolutely essential. Probably first but of kit we buy. We know we need to eat, we need to cook? Stoves don;t need to cost the Earth. A good knife and chopping board aren’t too expensive either. Then we get into tents and sleeping bags! Can cost the Earth ha ha? What I take from this vid, I already knew. Seasonings, salt n’ pepper, other dried herbs, plus an onion, garlic, some dry cured bacon maybe? Makes all the difference to enjoying food, rather than just cramming in the sustenance. Eat fresh whenever possible, is my mantra. Thanks for the vid, I have enjoyed it.
"I don't like food that's too carefully arranged; it makes me think that the chef is spending too much time arranging and not enough time cooking. If I wanted a picture I'd buy a painting". This lunch is perfect for me. Happy hungry! Cheers, Domenico.
Great recipes, I'm checking all the mont y boca web now. I always liked real cook outdoors (I'm the guy of the Trangia). Some ingredients you use are not available here, but I guess I can adapt and I always can get some things online. I want to try different flavors, as you say, get excited about lunchtime. For me (from Spain) some of these recipes look really exotic and exciting. Thank you both!
@@BackpackingTV I could see a great series of different trail snacks, meals, etc. that you could do with one. We have a freeze dryer and love it. Retired at 40 has a good channel for this, but they don't do enough outdoors meals.
Those cured meats can last 5 days after opening. Even pepperoni will last 5 days after opening. So if the package is unopened for a week of hiking. Yes, it would be safe to then open and eat for the next 4 or 5 days.
Great video, my friend! Enjoyed watching, your cooking and bushcraft skills are terrific! And the surrounding nature is amazing. Cheers from Russia, brother, and welcome to my channel about special Russian bushcraft tips and hacks! Kind Regards, Yuriy!
A lot of veg is shelf-stable at room temperature. Of course, it’s dependent on the ingredient and the more you process it (cutting it, for example) the lower the “shelf life”. Experiment to see what you can get away with. It’s all part of the cooking process.
It's great to see something other than tortillas and peanut butter 😂 thanks for some alternative lunch ideas.
I know right?! My mind was blown!
I agree but I have to admit, they both seem like they'd be delicious as wraps! 🤣🤣
Creative ideas to enhance the backpacking experience. I want to try this lunch salad. Now I just need to get friends who want to stop for lunch prep.
I love the creativity of these meals while being pretty simple too. But it does require at least a few minutes to stop and enjoy somewhere!
looks really good. I'm always looking for new things to make for work. these seem solid for that as well.
16:18 that's cinema

I've already learned a lot with these recipes. Glad to hear you'll be passing the knowledge along!
I just realized that I have the green guide. Perfect!
Always great with Chef Corso
Thank you guys

Glad you liked it! Eating fresh is so much nicer.
Love chef Corso
A new subscriber, thank you for sharing the unique picnic recipe. This can help the new channel host learn more knowledge too! Thank you!

Hard to be too delicate with the arrangement out there. Glad you enjoyed it!
We need more links in the description...like the folding chef knife...the Chef’s RUclips channel...etc
I came to look for that stuff too but there's nothing in the notes. 😞
I'll try to get some more info to include in the links. Thanks!

Right on! You know the good stuff!
@@BackpackingTV if you’re ever in Toledo OH, go to Takacs Grocery and get some of theirs... amazing
my first night on the trail is a frozen t bone steak for the dinner
Would love to see what both of you could do with a freeze dryer machine. The food would epic.
Mmmmmm.... me too!

Just went to Amish country over the weekend, summer sausage in mine! Forgot the cheese curds though and they were on the list. :/
I'm confused, is this supposed to be for car camping or backpacking? I'd never bring fresh food or this much food for lunch on a backpacking trip.
I realize it's kinda off topic but does anybody know a good website to watch new tv shows online ?
@Tomas Noel I would suggest FlixZone. Just search on google for it =)
@Zaiden Mayson yea, have been using Instaflixxer for since march myself :D
At 2:43 and other shots you can see a blue Subaru in the background. This is car camping. 😂

مرحبا بكم في الجزائر
Glad you went way out for this segment. Your car was a whole 100yds behind you. 😉 but I love the food info
hi
what was the folding chief knife?
Where is the chef's knife from? That thing is awesome!
ah found his camp utensils video :)
Seems like good make ahead meals?
Chef Monte looks and sounds familiar. Has he been on The Modern Rogue?

Excellent! Thank you!
Question: how does one keep their vegetables fresh during a two week trip?

Pickling, or eat them first.
"Were good to hike an other 15 miles" hiking 15 miles is easy when you have a blue truck around right? ;-)
Woooo..... I'm liking this video but will have to circle back to watch later.🤪

No way the meat salad is $2-$3 per portion.
For whatever reason I don’t trust the chef
