Ds9! Been using it since early 2021. Solid 25k rounds before I had a major malfunction (not to mention I had very little malfunctions in general) Phil and the guys in the ds9 department took care of me and essentially replaced the gun. Now I'm at 3500 on the new build with zero malfunctions of any kind. Such a well built gun for the correct price point which is where all the others fall off for me!

I do want to get it ported - they didn't have that option at the time. That, along with QVO's Thumb Cliff for the Surefire, would definitely take it up a notch!

Good stuff my man! I bought an XC about 6 weeks ago. It’s been a learning curve. But it is WAY easier to shoot than my Glock. There are times I’m not sure a bullet came out of the gun. I’m looking forward to the year of competition with it.
Great testing and review. I got a Sand Viper over the summer. Amazing gun, which I already got a LOT of rounds through. I purchased another new pistol more recently, the Alien Creator Evolution limited optics. Took the better part of a week to fully get used to it, as it is very different from any other competition gun I’ve ever used. Different impulse, different feel, different limits. However, even though I had at least 3,500 more rounds through the Pit Viper, the accuracy of the new Alien at any pace is significantly higher for me. Faster follow-ups with significantly tighter groups at speed. With aiming prioritized I have never seen such tight groups at 7-20 yards. Maybe it’s the size and shape of my hands and shooting style, but I’d love to know what you and others find with the new Alien Creator Evolution limited optics. I’d shot the original Alien for a month 2 years ago, and it was mostly just good, but weird- at least for me. This new alien is different. It’s the best shoot I have ever experienced in terms of results- at least for me. BTW, I put an SRO on mine. Didn’t like the one it came with.
I had a chance to handle a Stacatto XC today at my LGS. I was surprised it didn't feel great in my hand. For perspective, I've been shooting CZ Shadow 2 and S2 Compact mostly, so the XC beavertail grip safety was a challenge for me and requiring a learning curve. My grip was apparently too high. I was placing my thumb on the thumb safety with my medium sized hands clearly didn't engage the grip safety. Once I focused on putting the grip deep in the web of my hand, all was good. Trigger was great as expected. (Newbie issue I'm sure) After this brief non-shooting/handling preview, I think I'd prefer the MPA DS9 or similar style 2011's with Cheeley style grips. Just an interesting data point.
Gosh… these tough question 😂. Knowing what I know now, I’d probably lean on the XC. While I make my comments about how it transitions, I know it’s a learning curve that I could accommodate. I appreciate the stability of the platform and love how it cycles. A couple of things I would probably do… maybe a 9lb variable recoil spring (I prefer a touch more snap), aluminum grip to help with the balance, and a longer trigger shoe for my preference!
I own all of those besides sand vipers which my buddy owns all great guns but strictly on flat and soft shooting I put them in order Sandhawk XC , Sand viper DS9
I have a P that I use for 3 gun and a new C on the way for concealed carry but I’ve been eyeing an MP9 to replace my P as my main competition pistol (plan to put a light on the P and make it my night match/nightstand pistol). Videos like this make me just want to do that quicker, my wallet may never recover.
Great video dude! I recently spent time with a few different 2011s some ported and some not. I think the key take away you brought up is how much feed back you want in your gun. The XC is a phenomenal gun but it doesnt hit my hand hard enough. Which sounds wierd but guns that required more imput were faster for me.
To counteract that on the XC, some shooters will actually put in a heavier recoil spring to create additional feedback whether in “felt recoil” or to induce a touch of muzzle rise to track the dot easier

Well… they are still my main competition gun and while there are things I like about the other guns in this video… something that sticks out is their customer service… amazing. Also, if you have one on order… you’re likely getting their “Gen 3”… in short… improved machining and trigger. It will feel buttery smooth and tight… virtually on par with an Infinity or Nighthawk.
@@DaveandDebe the way I have my ported gun sprung promotes a really fast and tight return to zero… but you feel it more in the hands. The LOC is a super soft shooter and it feels really slow especially after shooting my ported gun… although in reality it’s actually quick.
Another great video! Thanks!Do we know who makes the Viper for TT? Nice to see the DS9 holding its own! I've got a Hybrid on order. Looking forward to testing it out vs my Bul Air. Have you been following Stoeger's experiences with the XC?
@SZ-uh5qi Good to hear. 👍🏻 What do you like better about it? I'm very curious how they'll compare. As far as slide to frame and barrel fit, my Air is steller. Trigger is very nice as well. I'm interested to see how I'll like the polymer vs aluminum grips. I thought about going with steel but I'm appreciating slightly lighter, more nimble guns lately (And hope I can convince MPA to sell me a steel grip if I feel I need one).
Great video, What you forgot to mention is that the Staccato XC is under sprung when compared to the TTI and the TRSC. The XC is running a 7lbs recoil spring while the TTI and the TRSC is a 9 lbs recoil spring. That is one of the reasons why you maybe favoring the XC over the other guns. That is one of the other reasons why the Atlas Erebus is such a soft shooting gun because it's also a 7 lbs spring, lighter slide, slightly bigger comp, and it's hand tuned just like the Nighthawk. Either way every comp gun out there does something better than the other. I do love that polymer grips can flex but for some odd reason I still prefer the texture of a metal grip which it's why I lean more towards Nighthawk & Atlas. If you had a Atlas Erebus I'm pretty sure you would of liked it the most out of all the guns.
Atlas are on another level from the other guns tested. I have an Artemis and shot that side by side with an XC, DS9, and Vulcan ported Stac the other weekend and the return to zero is more than a marketing gimmick, its just always back on target.
I have the XC and my DS9 Ported. My DS9 grips feel slippery all the time. I really like the DS9 but the slippery grips make the XC the winner for me (just got the XC) if the DS9 had the texture of my Atlas Artemis I think the DS9 could flip my opinion quick.. Someone mentioned the Bul Air below, even though the texture on my Bul AIR is better, I think that the DS9 still better than the Bul. If I can figure out the grip texture, the DS9 would be a close second to my Atlas. Perhaps I just got an odd set of grips. If I would like to put my hands on another DS9 just to see. Regardless I still want to compete with it.
@@chipreier1 I have no clue. I bought it from a certified dealer as my first competition style 2011. I would assume it was the A2 grips based off my Atlas grips and the LOK Jaws grips I had on my shadow 2. Even with A2 I would think they would not be that slick. I like the pistol a lot but this is driving me bonkers. Maybe there is residue or something there. Any recommendations?
And to defend MPA products and the people that work ther, I have not addressed this with them. They were amazing when I was asking about barrel porting and persistent inquiries on status. I think his name was Dave and another guy that was in charge of the porting process. Good people and I will continue to advocate for MPA and how good the gun truly is.
I bought the DS9 the same way, it was in stock in a local gun store and it was also my intro to competition 2011's. I'd say you must have the regular texture grip because the aggressive texture is definitely grippier than the rough textured XC. Give them a call, I'm sure they can verify which texture you have. I think they sell the aggressive grip seperately, but I'm not sure how much fitting you'd need to do. How much better is the ported vs unported DS9? I've been thinking about having mine ported.
@@chipreier1 I’ve really enjoyed it ported. I’m not a groupy but if the gentleman did it and he has skills already, I figured it could only help. He gives great advice and I really appreciate those that I follow on RUclips opinions. Every competition style gun I have minus my Atlas was based off of his, the humble marksman’s, and the honest outlaw’s reviews. DS9 ported awesome, Bul Air awesome, XC koolaide drinking awesome, Atlas Artemis - beyond awesome. Now I just need to go out and find a place to compete and be the guy with the fancy guns that gets smoked by some kid with a Glock 43x or a slingshot. Not many competitions in SW OK.
2011 saved the 1911 platform. What large new group is going to shoot singlestack or limited 10? Limited optics is a late response to market change the same way carry optics was. Carry comps are something USPSA rules need to accept bc those arent going away. I mean how is IDPA so much more in step with the market?
The Nighthawk is the one I would go with out of these. I know people revere the Pit Viper and the Sand Viper, but I think the Nighthawk is a superior firearm.
Quickly from this video I caught speed shooting! Terran tac all about speed from what I've seen on his videos. First was his quad loads on the benelli m4 TT model. Super fast reloads and accurate shooting. I held a viper being a by far rookie gun enthusiasts, but terran can make the best speed shooting guns around. Out of all you can actually air rack the viper as Wick did and that tells you proper weight, speed and accuracy matters being how many people constantly trying to hunt Wick. Main features you need for competition shooting. Speed and accuracy!

8 to 10 for viper try 13k or more i held it. Air racked it and thought about a second mortgage... but im not with marks ups that high
Another great video! Thanks!Do we know who makes the Viper for TT? Nice to see the DS9 holding its own! I've got a Hybrid on order. Looking forward to testing it out vs my Bul Air. Have you been following Stoeger's experiences with the XC?
The viper is a staccato XC, taran just messes with it a bit
This is how false rumors start as this statement is incorrect @@samr4584
@@samr4584 Thanks!
I like the DS9 over my Bul.
@@justinbenjamin4651 It's a nice gun, But for duty ill rather use a Nighthawk or a Staccato.
But, as a range toy/Conceal carry for sure the Erebus!
Get the DS9 ported!
Got mine ported👍
Atlas Erbus ,ball bearing slide B-B gun recoil insane accurate...if you find a better hand gun/2011 buy it...provided it's affordable
I've got the DS9 and XC as well and the DS9 is probably more grippy than the XC. Do you have the standard or aggressive grips on the DS9?
I would prefer an alien over all of them, but based on the list Aardvark for me!
2011 saved the 1911 platform. What large new group is going to shoot singlestack or limited 10? Limited optics is a late response to market change the same way carry optics was.
Carry comps are something USPSA rules need to accept bc those arent going away.
I mean how is IDPA so much more in step with the market?
Damn no Tisas B9R Carry DS WIW😅😮😢
DS9 if I was doing compettion, Staccato as a duty gun.
Love my XC!!!! It’s amazing, it feels like cheating.
Love M160
I'm your manual reviewer.
Ive only owned xc/ TRS. I prefer XC. MPA is ugly and SV is bit excessive on the cost to justify.
8:39 well go use the bathroom then no one told you to hold it in lmaoo 😅😅
@@TIGTC oh the things we say that skip
Over our heads 🤣🤣🤣
No atlas or phoenix trinity
Not against RUclips policy… yet!

Comp 1911s... Like these... In not sure what customer they're targeting... Not the competition shooter not the duty gun crowd it really personal defense... Better Gurnee available...
For the gun nerds? John Wick wannabes?? Heh
The problem with these guns is unless you have rich gun lover friends or are rich yourself it’s impossible to have them all to compare with each other. I have the xc and I love it but wou😢love a viper but that’s a lot of money to spend and wait a year .
Funny how God said history pretty much repeats itself, who knew he was even talking guns lol ,1911-2011 rolled back at the top like it was 😂😂joking not really tho
Not really a "shootout" if you don't pick your winner. 🤷
Missing Atlas and infinity
What's up with your extremely high left eyebrow while you speak about these guns? Must be your excitement?

Stole Classic Firearm’s intro music
@@spikeellis8511 wrong
@@TheGentlemanGunner Not wrong. They have 1.1 million more followers and had that intro for at least the last 5 years. I hadn’t even heard of your channel till I just stumbled upon it today and your oldest video is from 2 years ago..
@@spikeellis8511 still wrong… some one actually did the research.
@@TheGentlemanGunner Please do explain how I’m wrong? I just went back 5 years and played a video of theirs. Sure enough it’s been on every one since Clint joined the channel back then and yet your account is 2 years old. So how am I wrong exactly that they didnt have it first?
Never seen a gun channel use the same intro as another. Think im gunna start posting reviews myself and use the rock ballad from the Military Arms Channel cause its sweet then say I didn’t copy him too.
Watch 1911 Syndicate to see why the Sand Viper is not the best one.
