I'm still waiting on my dates, but when I asked about it, it sounds like I'll be joining somewhere around April 15th They won't give me a kit list until I have my dates though, so if you did some mentions about what items and documents that we need, then that would be a huge help 👍
That's great to hear hopefully they get back to you soon. Yeah in regards on what items I would be taking (excluding all the stuff required such as GCSE Certificates, vaccination report etc) would be more to do with products I used in the Air Cadets that they don't really state on the packet for basic training. Things like shoe polish I would always recommend Kiwi brand as they are a really good quality polish. Having a toothbrush to use in the grooves of your shoes that run around the sole of the feet (once you get them you'll see what I mean). Always use cotton wool pads or balls (I would automatically go pads as they are easier) soak them fully first then drain the water till their damp to stop all the fluffy bits going onto your shoes. Things like that. It's a bit difficult to explain everything in detail over a reply but hopefully this advice will help to some extent. Do let us know when you get your dates :)

Yeah I've noticed recently as the 2.4km run is now 12.11. I know most items from cadets on what to bring such as brand of shoe polish etc is there anything you would recommend bringing after doing phase 1?

Yeah I had the same issue so day 0 is the Monday that's when you get there, get settled, meet the staff etc etc but your 'official' start date isn't until day 1 which is the Tuesday. It's a little confusing but if you don't turn up on day 0 (as we had one person who did) then they turn you away if you were to come on day 1.

My plans is to make like phone recordings at the end of the day of just me talking (obviously no actual footage of what I'm doing) on what I would do differently etc. I'll figure it out as I go along
Congrats on becoming a Dad 🎉 Once you finish training, you would usually get a week off but then you’ll either go on SATTs or you’ll be starting your Phase 2 straight after, if you go on SATTs you’ll be back at Halton in the SATT blocks getting the weekends off, or if you go to Phase 2 straight away you’ll get weekends off after a couple of weeks in most trades, but will have some working weekends. CCS is quite a long Phase 2, with a child you’ll be entitled to get a house I believe as it is over 6 months long, just something to consider for you as the rental costs are subsided.
Thank you! And yeah I spoke to my recruiter today and he says I'll get 2 days off from passing out of Phase 1 before heading to Cosford for Phase 2 which was a little shock. He mentioned there is no family accommodation at Cosford so I've been looking at potential renting outside of base instead so will have to see. He did say there is some family like rooms I believe that we can have for a few days but not permanently through my training, no idea.
I live 15 minutes drive away from costford and there is definitely housing there. They even have an overspill housing area from cosford about 5 minutes away from where I live. I would definitely look into it. They also do contact housing (which is what I use when I visit my son up north) they are on base and are fully furnished houses that you rent off then for cheap. (But not sure that would be a permanent solution for you though)

Also just been told by a Pilot officer that we are possibly one of the last to go to Halton for an intake, not sure if it’s true but it’s cool nether the less, also found out the RAF Fitness test the one you do at Halton the beep test requirement has been moved down, 17-18 is now 8.06 from 9.10

It isn't a walk in a park but it varies obviously person to person if you are academic (which I ain't) then it won't be too hard but everything comes with how much you revised/practise so the difficulty is in your hands.
The covid jab, they say not to have it 72 hours prior because there is an increased risk of myocarditis, and it is brought upon more by exercise, especially in the hours and days following vaccination. What will you be doing on day 1? Bleep test. They wouldn’t any issues with you would they

What the first test hard were they check if your right for the role ?
Defence aptitude test they have a mock test on the raf website and the here’s multiple books you can buy to help practice and prepare for it
