You guys who are having problems doing the video: watch it first (before doing it), see what she does, get the basic feel for what's going on - AND THEN try it. Do this video more than once, twice, three times...I'd argue by the tenth time, you'll find it's manageable. :-)

I have been doing yoga for a few months consistently (ish) and this kind of routine would have killed me a few months ago. Keep on working on your yoga practice and this will become easier!

It seems really fast at first, but after I did this routine about ten or so times I started to become familiar with the moves and much more comfortable with them. When I became adjusted to it I started to notice that the moves were a lot easier and I could work harder to focus on my abdomen WITHOUT straining my back, which is always a huge problem for me.
It's true that it's really challenging the first few times to keep up, but if you take it slowly it really is a great beginner routine and also works well for stretching out and warming up before more a more intense core workout.
    Thanks!
PS- I'm a total beginner with yoga and not incredibly in shape. It gets easier really quickly, promise!

I was in the same boat when I started yoga. I'm still not great at it and not anywhere near being a pro like Tara is, but I think that's the important thing to remember. You have to be ok with where you are at! Don't push yourself too hard. Take baby steps. Can't touch your toes? Go for your knees. Can't touch your knees? Start with your thighs. Modify everything to make it achievable so you feel good about making small steps. The biggest thing: stick with it! You'll touch your toes in no time.

If you are reading this, please consider slowing your pace. The word beginner is in the title, but you are way too fast. You move from one pose to the next too quickly. After all this is yoga, I enjoy feeling the stretching in the different positions. Try to not rush so much, and make the breathing more of an experience! Breathing is an important aspect of yoga I'm assuming. Thank you!

This comment is so condescending. Stiles is an expert and knows what she is doing. She doesn't need you to explain the purpose of yoga to her. There are plenty of slow, relaxing yoga routines on youtube. Go to them if that's what you want. Stiles has *intentionally* designed quick routines that give you a decent workout. This is exactly what I am here for. Thanks Tara!

I love how freely and effortlessly you move. You make it look so simple. Yet after an attempt at what you are doing, I have to say that I am simply astounded at your flexibility and your strength that you have to do these moves as flawlessly as you are doing them. I am really looking forward to continuing my yoga practice. Thank you for being such a wonderful influence and such a perfect exapmple to follow and learn from.

The more you do something, the more control you'll get! I've been doing a lot of blogliates' workouts (abs especially), and have been doing sit ups with an app on my phone. Now when I come back to yoga videos like this, I'm able to go through it without breaks, but still can definitely improve. I couldn't do that before, though. So patience and perseverance will help you power through!

Guys she's making a video that's why she doing it a little bit fast , but as a beginner go slowly and take as much time as you need , but at the end you have to challenge yourself to get the results that you want .
    God bless you all 🌹

i am rehabbing myself after a TPF and am finally allowed to put weight on the leg. This seems like a good level of core training to get me started. Thanks for posting!
For people who think she is going too fast, you can play the video at half speed or watch it a couple of times to gain familiarity without doing the exercises or without doing them fully.

I've been suffering from hypothyroidism and besides gaining a lot of weight, I'm very fatigued a lot of the time. I've been trying to slowly get back into shape and into yoga, but I've noticed that my core strength is pretty much gone. I thought this routine could help with that, but it was actually really difficult for someone like me and some of the poses I couldn't do 10 repetitions, but I did try my best. I'll keep working at it.

Just tried it, it was a great workout, I am happy it was just about 9 -10 mins as it was just long enough to feel the burn but not to become very tired. I hope to continue these workouts. The hardest part is keep doing them. I am always starting and stopping.
Some portions were a little harder to do than some but I really want to get back my flexibility to the level it was naturally, I find I am not as flexible as I was before and I really need to work on my stomach as well.
    Thanks again for the workout!

Tara stiles, THANKS for making this video! I started doing yoga because my back was SEVERELY sore. It would hurt to bend over and pick something up and I felt incredibly stiff (which you probably don't feel too often haha). My intent to do yoga was to feel better and have my back not hurt as much, however I also lost 5 lbs!

I love this routine. I do not like crazy vigorous body pump style workouts right when I wake up. This routine is a perfect morning routine. It only takes 8ish minutes, its energizing, effective! yet not a shock to my body upon first waking up. Thank you!

So I have been following Tara's videos for the past month and they are great. I love her calm instructions, she doesn't talk at you. This is a though one though, my core will be rock hard if I stick to this! I saved the videos in the correct order so when I fully master one I move onto the next. I started on a 9 minute work out and now I'm up to almost 30 minutes and time just flies. I recommend these beginner videos as she doesn't push you into anything you're not able for. Thanks Tara :)

For everyone who was struggling to keep up: try slowing down the video to 75% by clicking on the settings icon. Thank you for this! I needed something a little more gentle because I've got chronic pain and asthma, so there are days when I just don't feel like doing "JUMP! LUNGE! PUSH! RUN! GO GO GO!" Plus, and I know I'm a prude, but watching shirtless men sweating does nothing for me. All I can think of is how badly they need a shower.

These videos are fantastic. I just tried this one for the first time and wasn't able to do certain bits (does Tara not have a tail-bone??) But it was the same the first time I tried the Flexibility and Building Strength Evenly videos. After a couple of weeks I have those ones down (which is not to say that they're not still hard work) so now I'm adding this one too. A few people are complaining about the speed but it won't seem fast after you've had a few goes at it and learnt the routine. I personally love that Tara fits so many movements into such short videos, that way if you only have time for one you still get some good stretches in.

Depends on your body. I just did the beginner building strength evenly video, and then went straight to this one because I still had a good amount of energy left. Think I'll take a break now lol. Just remember not to push yourself! I remember the first time I did one of these videos, and I had to stop 1/4 of the way through because my elbow felt funny(but not painful), like it might pop the wrong way. I knew if I did more, I'd damage it!

+Natalie Clegg try putting the video at half speed! it helps to give you time to prepare and also forces you to hold poses/ do certain moves for a longer time so that you feel more of a burn. This is all new to me, so until i'm able to keep up with her, I'm doing it at half speed.

While I get that this is supposed to be short, I highly recommend doing this once to get the hang of it - and then next time watch it at 0.5 speed, without audio. It's way more intense, + you can listen different music each time so it's easy to form a fun routine of doing this for a while. :)

I watched this before trying it and it looked much simpler than when I was doing it, its a really good routine had to pause aswell on the forearm part thanks for sharing. Gonna do it again and hopefully I can make it through the the entire 9mins, 😆

If something says beginner but is too hard do this always: do only some of the reps, not as many as video. Change the way you do it so that you don't have to do as much (ex: keep part of your body on ground, don't go as high, etc). And breath deeply and consistently. If you practice you'll get better. That said... This is difficult for me... I have fibromyalgia

Nini Sterling I agree that what you have said would help.
I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and I healed it by taking out all sugar and only eat a vegan diet... I am now so much better x

+SpiritStones Creative Crafts there are beginner yoga courses on youtube that are slower. I prefer those because I have knots in my pelvic floor and torn diaphram and scar tissue etc. Practice with kris lets me take my time and really relax while building that core strength.

I loved this, coming from pilates this is so easygoing in comparison but also very similar. I'm liking the calm pace :-)
