I love Black Pudding. My very first job was working at a local meat processing plant (I won't name the company but apparently, during the War, they had ears! 😂). One day I was put on the Black Pudding floor. My job was to run up and down a lenghy corridor with buckets of blood to add to the mixer (Imagine a HUGE Kenwood Chef). Unfortunately the mixer broke - thinking we could take a break the gaffer simply said 'Roll up your sleeves and get in there!) So we did! Half a dozen of us mixed the lot by hand...and arm. Wouldn't be allowed nowadays - whether we added to the flavour I'll never know. 😊
@@andreah4172 Actually when I started I thought the same. However it is really easy. But a black pudding mix off of eBay and add some suet and fat. Stuff the mix into the provided skins, ( which are edible ), and boil for about an hour or so. Then you end up with 6 lb of tasty black pudding. Once I got brave enough to expand? I now do sausages of all flavours, kippers and smoked sausage and hams. As a result, I now take orders from my neighbours, for which I charge them only for the ingredients. It’s got so that I had to get a helper in the kitchen. Luckily we have a large community function room facility that includes a fair sized catering kitchen. I was passed 70 when I took this up, which also shows your never too old to learn a new skill.
Hate black pudding so won't try, but I watch all your videos. These last couple of days I've been feeling very low and helpless and alone. Crying my eyes out the last few hours. So I've just started binge watching your videos. I love your energy and cheerfulness. Thanks for your awesome videos, they're great therapy
So sorry you’re feeling down Caroline. I’m sending you warm hugs and love. People do care, I hope you’ll feel more like yourself soon. Thinking of you 💝💐💋. Take care XXXX
Absolute love black pudding, in my Tesco in Scotland we have company called speyside they do black pudding and honestly it’s the closest thing you’ll get to stornoway
Having tried a fair few different black pudding in my time both store bought and butcher's with varying results. I noticed this brand in my local Asda fairly recently and thought it was delicious. Totally agree with your opinion that it is very similar to Stornoway. I bought more just the other day.
99p for four! And they taste great!? The price of black pudding is not always a sign of how good they are. I'm embarrassed to say that I bought some 'posh' black pudding for . . . well, more than 99p, and they were bloody tasteless! When you started talking about having sausage and bacon etc with them, my mouth was watering. Time for a fry up!
Up here in Scotland in our fish and chip shops, we can buy a Black pudding supper. Which is a Black pudding like a Cumberland sausage. The black pudding is dipped in Batter, deep fryed and served with chips. It`s a proper meal. Not sure but some other fish and chip shops in UK might sell it.
@williamgardner2739 you jocks don't have a stomach . It must be a concrete mixer barrel 🤔 😅. I love both haggis and black pudding, but deep fried , in batter.???? . That sounds almost as good as a deep-fried mars bar 🤮🤣🤣🤣
Top man reviewing this stuff. Did a visit to Stornaway a few years ago and the plane struggled to take off probably because of the amount of black pudding I had bought.
It was my granddaughter's birthday today and she requested a fry up for her birthday tea. We had black pudding and sausages from my daughter's village butchers, I can't tell you how good they were, delicious. Thanks for another honest review 💜💜💜
Jeasus I love black pudding in a sandwich with loads of real butter and brown sauce. Keep it simple to appreciate the pudding. When I say keep it simple I mean no sausage, bacon, or egg.
Every Sunday begins with black pudding, white pudding, egg, bacon, soda bread, potato bread, sometimes haggis and mushrooms and tomato. Lovely!!!! Some of the cheaper black puddings are not too brilliant so I'll have to try that one if it's stocked in my local Aldi. Some super markets seem to think that we don't eat black or white pudding down in Sussex!!!
I love these! Tried a lot of them, but this is lovely and spicy. I do it in the air fryer, with a bit of spray oil. Served with bacon, tinned tomatoes and a fried egg :)
I've never much cared for the big slices of black pudding - prefer the smaller horseshoe puddings the local butcher sells - nice big bits of fat in too! I'll give the Aldi ones a go though.
I was initially disappointed that there were no large lumps of pure white fat, but the look on your face said it all. I'll be getting a pack of that black pudding on Monday. My local butcher does have some excellent black pudding at times (they buy it in and the quality is not consistent), but it is far more expensive than the Aldi version.
The problem unless there's a butcher shop around where you live there's zero chance you'll find black pudding like that these days at one point in village where I live there's was two butchers who made their own black pudding and other stuff these days both gone.
I had the very same last week, only I didn't cook mine and it was lovely and strong in flavour. I love black pudding with usual breakfast ingredients plus tinned tomato's, Tinned tomato's and black pudding go together like eggs and bacon.
I might try these, as not had a decent one in ages. The best ones though were going back many a year, mum used to buy one from local butcher's, they were in an open circle, with a thick skin (crispy when fried) & a metal tag on the end (if my memory serves me right).
I remember staying at gran & grandads on a weekend when i was a kid . Saturday morning breakfast i was given black pudding and said how nice it was . Only after i"d eaten it did grandad tell me what it was made from but i have eaten it loads of times since . Yummy yummy
Aldi have had these for a couple of years. I prefer the whole pudding that you boil, split and slather with mustard, yum! You can also heat them in the microwave if you wrap them tightly in clingfilm. Goes well with mushy peas.
When i was a wee boy, my Mother used to do us a fry up every Sunday and one of the items was Black Pudding & White Pudding. I asked what it was made from and i remember her saying ` if i told you, you`d never eat it again !` She did and to this day almost 66 yrs later. i`ve never had it again. If, you do like it Gareth, i`m told the best ones are from Stornoway and there`s a RUclips video showing the original way its made. Good luck if you can watch it all the way through.
Thanks for reminding me, I was doing burgers tonight and often grill or fry a slice of black pud on top. Had to go and rummage in the freezer. I use Farmfoods black pud slices, bagged in 20s IIRC.
hi gareth thanks for review on one of my favorites to add to a full english breakfast they are delicious they finish off the breakfast have a great week end . wes
Not a bad price at all. I was buying mine from the Co-Op because Lidl stopped selling it. Co-Op price is £1.60 for four slices. As I’ve said before, I now go into making a lot of things like sausages, fish and black pudding. I can make two 3lb puddings for around £6 or so. That said, if you love black pudding? This is a great buy. 👍🏻👍🏻.
I've always given this Aldi pud a swerve, thought it would be rubbish. Will be buying a pack tomorrow. Even on a breakfast I love em slathered in English mustard. Thanks for another cracking vid.
White pudding is good which I have had when working up in Scotland also haggis we usually visit bury market ones a week and get a hot black pudding each they are boiled the are some condiments you can put on them very hot mustard mint sauce and mustard piccalilli i usual have a bit of everything but the do test good I am glad to see you dieting is going well I have lots a few pounds since going back on the sensible food diet my self since getting back from holiday but I do miss my rum cocktails and the donuts but if I want to keep healthy it has to be done
I do enjoy Black pudding. I think it’s the same product in different stores but in different packaging? These 4 slice packs taste the same everywhere you buy them. I always fry mine and I like a fried egg with them too. As I say, it doesn’t matter where you buy them, they seem identical. The M and S are just the same, the price is pretty similar too. Morrisons are the only store where I’ve seen a variety of Black puddings. They do a sausage version, which is very tasty and has a long shelf life, probably because there’s a plastic covering. Thanks for the vid.
Goes well with buttered toast; eggs (poached), bacon; chips; I always use pepper because it makes everything work. You can use sauce if you wish. Cut off a bit of B pud on a fork, a bit of toast, bacon or sausage, a chip and a bit of egg. The perfect morsel.
I love black pudding, but it is much harder to source here in Australia compared to the UK, but it can be got, and once per year Brigadoon, the Bundanoon Highland Gathering comes to town and all sorts of black, and white pudding is available in all sorts of forms, also haggis and other treats that are hard to come by at other times.
If you love Black Pudding - then you love Black Pudding. Personally - I do. If you don't then there's nothing to persauade. Thanks for the review! I'll have to get some!
I do love good black pudding, this is a good price for 4 big thick slices too. You're just missing some bacon, eggs, sausages, fried bread, beans, hash browns, tomato...😂
A neighbour of ours went on holiday and I'm sure it was Cumbria way because her husband is from Workington. Anyway, she said she was thinking of me when she bought me one of the big black puddings wrapped in plastic. Made about 6 portions and I think there's still 3 left in the freezer to have with a full English fry up. She does know I like a black pudding, but why she thought of me when she saw them I have no idea. 🤔😆 Tasty though.

Bury blackpudding is my fav but I'm biased as their shop on the market is only a few min away from me 😂 I'll give those a try next time in aldi. They have a lot to live up too though
Doreens black pudding from Yorkshire is fantastic, the problem is they don't sell it near me so I have to order online, £30.00 for 3 x 1.1kg packs I slice it vac pack it and freeze it. It's a triangular shape and it's baked not boiled.
If you're ever passing through Stockport give me a shout and I'll donate a couple of pieces to the cause.👍Mind you I just took the plunge and bought some, no regrets.@@BaldFoodieGuy
Never tried it so cant say if i like it or not. Just dont fancy the thought of what its made of. There was a place that did a massive mixed grill near us. If you could eat it all it was free. On it 2 pieces of black pudding. Not many managed it even eating the black pudding. And the order didnt mention it had black pudding.
iv had these and i was impressed as i like my black puddings (and pork pies) to be peppery and they go well with brown sauce and they are nearly half the price of the bury black puddings that are in every supermarket , you really cant go wrong and you can freeze them. i had an american friend and they talked about haggis so i mentioned black puddings and she had never heard of them so i told her what they are and she told me to shut up as she was feeling sick lol , and she couldnt believe we eat such a thing and when i mentioned the black poo the next day .......... ha ha ha ha. i think the polish do a black pudding , as a guy i worked with brought some in for his butties but i joked like they had just come out of the back end of a dog due to the shape of them but they seemed to spread well , which obvs didnt help his case lol.
tesco used to do a savory with a hit of heat black pudding which was wonderful now i never see it and black pud seems to be tasteless so i often get the haggis in a bag and slice that for black pud yum
Used to eat some uncooked just before frying and fried, couldnt wait :) not for a long time now, not much Fat in them slices tho.Beans n Fried Bread.... Bacon and Egg..... nice slice a bread or 2 and a sweet cuppa tea ta wash it down with.....Polony ?
99p wow you get loads of it, extremely cheap! I have never had it, but it gave you a smile, and I am pleased you got a real bargain. Actually some liver is still as cheap as chips. Really fab video.
I really enjoy your videos mate. Your such a calm bloke, you seem to have the same palate as me more or less, so all your videos are of stuff I would normally try myself
I love Black Pudding. My very first job was working at a local meat processing plant (I won't name the company but apparently, during the War, they had ears! 😂).

Black pudding and haggis on the same plate. Unbeatable.
The decadence 😂❤

Love my Black pudding.
Try them with a dollop of Apple Sauce.
The sweet and sour ? taste is really nice.

iv had these and i was impressed as i like my black puddings (and pork pies) to be peppery and they go well with brown sauce and they are nearly half the price of the bury black puddings that are in every supermarket , you really cant go wrong and you can freeze them.
i had an american friend and they talked about haggis so i mentioned black puddings and she had never heard of them so i told her what they are and she told me to shut up as she was feeling sick lol , and she couldnt believe we eat such a thing and when i mentioned the black poo the next day .......... ha ha ha ha.
i think the polish do a black pudding , as a guy i worked with brought some in for his butties but i joked like they had just come out of the back end of a dog due to the shape of them but they seemed to spread well , which obvs didnt help his case lol.
Cheers Mike yes it's good stuff isn't it mate, all the best 👍
Black pudding in white bread with lashings of HP sauce.....magic. Appreciate you my guy i love your uploads ❤
You're welcome 😊
tesco used to do a savory with a hit of heat black pudding which was wonderful now i never see it and black pud seems to be tasteless so i often get the haggis in a bag and slice that for black pud yum
Cheers Dave

99p wow you get loads of it, extremely cheap! I have never had it, but it gave you a smile, and I am pleased you got a real bargain. Actually some liver is still as cheap as chips. Really fab video.
Absolutely love black pudding
If you get the chance go to bury and ask to see them being made, the smell is amazing and you can buy them fresh.😀👍
Oh yes please
Eric Olthwaite's observations on the black puddings sprang to mind 🤣Gaz's review kicked that into touch 😁👍
I really enjoy your videos mate. Your such a calm bloke, you seem to have the same palate as me more or less, so all your videos are of stuff I would normally try myself
