  • This is my Yihua 968 DA+ III soldering and de-soldering rework station. On full power though, as good as it is, it is really quite noisy. So here I'm going to see if I can quieten it down a bit,,,

i'm quite glad this worked out for you. i am curious if it will retain more heat now. perhaps you could take occasional temperature readings inside the case while it is running (via thermocouple temp probe?) just to see if it may cause later issues with overheating the internals. that being said, thanks again for a great video documenting your adventures.

You literally read my mind John. I started with the thermocouple as soon as I'd done it. I just need to give it a bit more time to see if the results are representative

      @@RetroComputingReboot stay awesome.
would you be willing to update us on the mod you did and how it affected the internal heat? (perhaps that would make for a nice short video.)

Hi, did it always make the buzzing sound or did it get worse over time? I always thought Yihua was a good make?
Quite surprised to see (what I think is) the air pump being mounted with white cable ties?

Hi John, yes that's just how it came. The only thing I'd done prior was just use the wire tie as a temporary measure.
It was buzzy when it came. That hasn't changed with use. But to be fair, it does it's jobs though really well. And yes, the pump is mounted with cable ties. That said though I'm sure they will outlive the actual pump 😁.
I can't say if my experience is typical. It just liked to vibrate, so I could have been unlucky. Adding some nylon or rubber washers between the chassis and cover would no doubt of stopped the vibration, but I thought I'd try some proper sound insulation too
