The Aoyue stations are just a little bit more expensive than the cheapest ZD-915 or ZD 8915. But the build quality of the Gun AND the main station is much better. Be aware that the sponge filters need dampening! But you can also use cheap ZD 915 filters. As long as there is a filter. They do not need dampening. The gun is 95% identical to the Hakko. The wiring and the heating element, barrel and tips are different.
I got the Hakko ... both the handversion (fr-301) and the FR-400 (the 300W version)... The handversion is pretty good. Works fairly well. The FR-400 however is damn good imho (and just so you know I also have the JBC 4 tool station with a desoldering tool which is ok but feels a little underpowered to me, it probably works better with the compressor driven vacuum pump and not the standalone vacuum pump that I have).

Please make a follow-up video in some time, it would be interesting.

The FR-301 is the one I was hoping for. Pretty good is definitely better than I was hearing. :)
Wondering how you made out with this desoldering unit..?
Will probably do a follow up later, but surprisingly, it’s been doing great! Hoping to use one from a better brand to compare with.
Framing!
Agreed!
This desoldering is a clone of the Hakko 474, gun is identical.
Hope works fine.
money well wasted :))))
Could be! It hasn’t failed yet, but I feel like I need a few months to know for sure.
