We use the Makitas at the airport to clean smaller aircraft when a quick clean is required. The Makita Vaccuums are now almost 10 years old, if not more, and every single machine still works perfectly to this day. Each vacuum cleaner runs at least for 1 hour a day without any problems. We were all skeptical when they were delivered. We thought these would be a gimmicky vacuum for the average John Basement Workshop, but they prove they're tough.

Another home run with some new and thoughtful tests! I love the “nut test” and the crevice test. Because so many struggled with the large diameter of the heaviest nut, perhaps fishing weights would be better. That would allow for a smaller size, but higher weight.

That's a good idea. I did think the nut test provided a good sense of scale to compare the openings to eachother visually and get a sense of how big of items each can suck up, but yeah it ultimately prevented a few from picking up a nut or two that they clearly could have by weight if it were physically smaller.

You did not steer me astray! It works great! On hard floors, like my kitchen, it works about as well as my full-size vacuum. I also didn't realize that it came with so many accessories: crevice tool/brush, corner brush, two extension tubes, floor attachment, and upholstery attachment. It even came with an extra washable filter. What a value! I ran it using my 3.0 Amp M18 battery and after about 10 minutes of use I still had two dots on the power indicator. I did have to empty several times, but that's just because it was picking up so much.

Going into it with a DeWalt 20v cordless tool and battery system already, I spent some time to research to find out which hand-held vacuum would be best for us around the house, and I came to the same conclusion with the exact presented DeWalt shown here, comparing other small canister DeWalt and other plug in type cheaper hand-held vacuums.
This is a great unit and exactly what I needed. 2 years later, couldn't be happier and I agree with the points made here. The double bonus not mentioned is the vacuum comes with a full hose and attachment kit, the hose meaning you don't have to position the units weight uncomfortably to pick up waste ... the hose is easy to maneuver while you hold the unit comfortably.
Not only would I recommend this vacuum, I would also suggest it be part of the deciding factor towards finally deciding on a higher volt, quality cordless tool and battery system, if a reader is researching that decision right now ... as obviously a single battery system for all tools makes sense. It can be a daunting decision, as once you buy in, your stuck there in that ecosystem.
My vote is for this DeWalt 20v system. I now have a lot of pieces, and they have never let me down regarding design like this vacuum, power, torque and battery capacity and longevity. None of the pieces, nor has any part of the system let me down.
I just wish it wasn't yellow ... not a fan of that. Its just ugly (opinion),
but at the end of the day, the decision between this system and the Milwaukee M18 (much bigger tool selection) and Makita (lighter weight but more $) is partly personal and depends on trades or diy use case. For me, the DeWalt checked a couple more boxes, and this vacuum played a small role in that.
Just writing this out to help a person in this decision, and maybe thats a video series (cause its more stuff to deal with than a single video) for Project Farm ... which is the best entire ecosystem between top brands, positives and negatives for each?

She ordered the knock-off milwaukee from Amazon thinking it was "milwaukee". When I saw it I told her it was not a Milwaukee. Oh well. Opened and used several time. Just totally awesome. Then...the switch broke and you had to hold the button for it to run.. Replaced free via Amazon. It's a crazy good vac if you have Milwaukee batteries already you are set. Already having 5 and 6ah batteries around makes it a powerhouse (or at least relatively speaking), and the part project farm didn't touch on too much was the attachments. Came with a nice mesh bag for all of it, and has a floor attachment that regularly causes me to grab the portable over a standard vacuum because its just so much more convenient for a small spot. I own the B and D 20V, glad to see it did so well in your tests; also appreciate as always your testing creativity!

17:23 the B&D crevice attachment is built in! You just need to extend it!

One of the best things about your kids, us we can pick out the things that we personally want in the products, and make a very informed decision on which to buy. Thanks for the upload!.

I really like your videos friend. Truly! Thanks for the tips you give us with your vigorous tests of each product. It's a great eye-opener into knowing what to purchase, especially for a lower budgeted family. Keep up the good work!

I briefly had the Bosch 18 volt vacuum and it was terrible. Thanks for providing this video, I needed it.

Bought the DeWalt based on his testing. Had the batteries so pulled the trigger. What a great vacuum! Really happy

I have the ryobi one, it seemed really impressive at first but the filter gets plugged up sooooo fast! Works awesome for bigger / coarse stuff but the moment you get into anything fine you have 30 seconds before your pulling that filter out and giving it some good taps

It's satisfying to watch sand sucked up from a crevice! I have a Black and Decker I bought about a year and a half ago. My biggest gripe? Yep, dirt leaks out after I turn it off.

For me, the ease of connecting to the charger is also important. I chose a larger Ryobi Evercharge, which has a charging cradle you bolt to a wall or side of a cabinet. Just lifts on & off the charger.

Yo I was just thinking I need a vacuum like this for my shop. I just ordered the knockoff Milwaukee! Thanks for these test they have saved me so much

That Knock-Off Milwaukee is impressive for sure. Airgunning has become a hobby for many people. Did you ever consider doing a review on different brands of pellets? A lot of times they don't fly true. Many times the skirts are deformed etc.

This hand held vacuum test was awesome. Considering that these might be used in car detailing it would be interesting to see how they compare vs a regular, and shop vac.
I currently use a shop vac when vacuuming out the car.

So happy to see another vacuum review! I'm still using the best reviewed one from the stick vac review. It's doing awesome.

I was searching for this review on this channel a few months back!
As a fresh owner of B+D 20V, it was nerve-wracking to see all testing stages. I'm so happy now! Lol.
Only thing I don't like on this device is extendable suction head. It retracts just with a light push against vacuumed surface.
