  • Hello and welcome to the SPOOLIN UP channel.
    In this video I swap my standard OEM fuel pump for an upgraded KEMSO fuel pump.
    The fuel pump is a straight OEM replacement in tank fuel pump claiming to deliver 265 litres of fuel per hour.
    This was a nice and easy job, the only difficulty was swapping the fuel hoses on the sender unit and they were quite stiff. I will now be one more step closer to getting the car mapped to utilise all of the modifications I have fitted.
    Thanks for coming to view the channel, don't forget to LIKE, COMMENT and SUBSCRIBE :)

      Thank you bro. The thing is the longer I wait, the more issues crop up that I want solved first. I think I need yo get it done and worry about the rest later. Top man 👊🏾

    Sick video again man! The golf is really getting there! I had mine mapped a few weeks ago and it is beyond my expectations!! A few extra mods I’d suggest if you haven’t thought of them already is BAM injectors and BAM 3” MAF. When I drove her home after the mapping session I could not stop smiling!!🤣

    • @SPOOLINUP
      @SPOOLINUP  2 года назад +1

      I'm so happy for you mate, glad you are really enjoying the car. Everyone says the same thing after mapping and that is that it totally transforms the car, im sure when I get it done I will be wondering why I didn't get it done sooner. I bookmarked BAM injectors but am in two minds because someone else told me not to bother. If I get that BAM MAF then I will need to change my TIP and air filter right? Funny thing is that my MAF is beginning to fail. Thanks for the comment and advice mate im glad you have stuck around 👊🏾

      @@SPOOLINUP you absolutely will! Have you decided on a place to get it mapped? It has become so much more responsive, spools faster and the torque gain is unbelievable!! I think getting the injectors and MAF would only be a tiny gain but it’s just what my mapper advised me to do to get the most out of the engine! Yeh I think you would, I couldn’t get hold of the 45mm/2.75” TIP in blue so I just got 45mm/3” TIP and upgraded the MAF. But you should be able to keep your air filter, maybe just buy a straight reducer if it doesn’t fit straight on. I had the creation Motorsport CAI which sat down below the bumper and it came with a reducer so it could do both 2.75” & 3”. I’ll be here for the long haul mate! Wanna see the gains!! Haha

      Well I think I am going to get Chris at Tuning Technics to map it as I have been advised to by a very good mechanic I know who knows the 1.8t like the back of his hand. Also he isn't that far from me and then I will go to a dyno day and see what the car makes just out of interest and to have that experience. I'm very new to this car tuning thing man, that is why I bought the Golf to experience it all and gain some knowledge. Now you mention it I did originally have the larger TIP for the 3" MAF and I still have it in my shed as good as new and I have a reducer to go inside and I could get a reducer or make something up for the air filter. Thanks for mentioning the Creations Motorsport cold air intake because I was wondering if there was a decent worthwhile kit for the GTI. I'm glad I've spoken to you mate, I was driving my car today thinking how the hell have I been so patient? Subscribers must be bored hahaha. Did you get your motor mapped on the dyno or flash mapped?

      @@SPOOLINUP ah nice one mate! Yeh I’m the same, first turbocharged car and it’s been a lot of fun so far man! Ooo I reckon it could be a good shout to chuck that TIP in and see what you can squeeze out of the stock internals!
      The cold air Intake was good during the summer months but even in the slightest bit of rain it starts to suck in water. So I took it off, but the filter fits directly on to the 3” MAF! Ah It’s a process though mate, it’s taken me two years from when I started modifying mine until stage 2!! I’m locked in haha. It was dyno mapped, they did a health check prior to doing anything which was awesome as well. I only have a slight leak in my Down pipe Flexi 👌🏻.

      My first turbocharged car as well, I got my licence when I was a teenager but never drove until I got my E46 330CI. I will see how much I can get a 3" MAF for and work it all out. How much power and torque did you make or is that a secret? Hahahaha. Ahh thats a shame about the cold air intake but would be good in another country I am sure. I did my exhaust on the floor and I had a leak or two after a while but that can be easily sorted or replaced. Did you go for any 2 step? Pops and bangs? Overrun crackle? Anything loud and loutish?

    Good stuff! It's fun making progress :D Made some myself on the Leon today as well, finished installing the 3" downpipe and Cobra Sport catback, great sound.
    I'll be referencing this video when it's time to do my own pump. Do you happen to know further details about the fuel system? I see a lot of stuff about 3 and 4 bar bits (like the pump and the pressure regulator) I've seen a similar pump like this with 265lph and there's no mention of the pressure and not sure if this is relevant to begin with.

    • @SPOOLINUP
      @SPOOLINUP  2 года назад

      Wicked man, having the downpipe and exhaust system is definitely one of the most exciting mods. I was taken back when I started my car for the first time after installing the exhaust.
      My knowledge is very limited and goes as far as it needs to go for Stage 2. I think you need to upgrade the fuel system further if you decide to covert to a KO4 but with the KO3s it should be all good.

    Do you have any problems with cutting out at half a tank? Thinking to grab one of these pumps.

    • @SPOOLINUP
      @SPOOLINUP  Год назад +2

      I've had no problems whatsoever since installing the pump, the car is on the fuel light now as we speak 🤣 I've been told to always keep a spare pump and basket ready to swap straight out just on case there are any issues. That is not because of this particular pump but in general once mapped. Also check out Sytec as people have a lot of good things to say about their pumps for the 1.8t.

    I know this was a while ago. Do you still have this installed. Is it worth it saving the money? Or should I go pay the 249.00 for other models

    • @SPOOLINUP
      @SPOOLINUP  2 года назад +1

      Hi, I do still have it installed but I have not yet mapped the car so can't really tell how well the pump performs with extra demand. I will be attempting to get it mapped within the next four weeks so could let you know. It also depends what kind of power you want to go for. If for example you plan to do a KO4 swap you might be better off buying one of the more reputable pumps

      Guess what!! So I bough a grams 320 lph fuel pump to install. It was going to take a few modifications but it will fit. Turns out the previous owner installed kemso with 340 lph. I get to save 126 bucks. Sweet. Oh, fyi I went with a gonzo tune. Just waiting on them to give me the ok to install the second part.

    • @SPOOLINUP
      @SPOOLINUP  2 года назад

      Thats great news man, there is nothing like a surprise that allows you to put your money back in your pocket. I was told that if you test the fuel pumps to see what they pump in a few minutes and multiply it to make up 60mins/1hr then Kemso was the closest to their claimed figures. I had never heard of Gonzo before so just Google searched it and ive read some great things about it so I'm sure that will be a sweet setup. How does it work? Do you get an ECU sent to you plug and play?
