I wish they had included the scene when Minako looks up at the sky worrying about Usagi and Mamoru and says “Don’t worry guys we’ll save you” (talking about the other sailors)
i love seeing the differences made between the manga and anime. some of them you can tell are either influences from the 90's anime, like Demande saving Sailor Moon before dying, rather than just trying to kill Sailor Moon and dying by her hand instead, or just because they wanted to tone down certain elements, like the rotting corpses/vulgar death scenes or Sailor Moon raising her voice at chibi-usa rather than almost hitting her. I didn't realize how many conversations were changed, kinda makes me wonder why they would change it, though it did ultimately lead to the same ending.
@@mooncover7359 i wish Rolling Heart Vibration was used more than once. That's not a complaint against the anime either. I just realized that its literally used once. It was used only once in the manga/crystal. in the live action PGSM, it was used ONCE. 90's anime never got it. even the SNES game that included manga attacks from the death busters arc didn't have it as an attack for Venus. Sorry that was a tangent. I thought the first arc animations were mostly good for their attacks, i liked that they tried to make the attacks feel more in the moment, until Sailor Moon got her Moon stick. 2nd arc really didn't help at all, and their new attacks definitely didn't get the same attention, and then ofc they gave Sailor Moon's scepter attacks the same treatment as her Moon stick attacks... which was not great. At least after that they actually put some time and brought back the attacks like the 90's, where it's a separate animation, which I personally think was a better choice.
I honestly thought both of venus attacks did not look good this season. When she is fighting Beryl in the last season I thought her fighting looked so cool. Season 2 comes around. What is this!?!
@GodFireBreakdowns I was maybe thinking that maybe the timeslot for it airing in Japan, but then I remembered that the first two seasons were ONA (Online Net Animation), which means it only streamed on Niconico, which is similar to RUclips in Japan. So it couldn't really have been TV regulations as it didn't air on TV until season 3. Toei Animation has a history of toning down the dark and violent things from their anime adaptations of manga. They also do the same for One Piece and still do. I think Toei Animation wants their anime to appeal to a broader audience, especially children, so they tone down a lot of the more violent imagery. Other studios don't usually tone down the violence and dark imagery as much as Toei does from my experience watching a ton of different anime.
I can't believe I only just found out here that manga Motoki knew Usagi and the others were Sailor Guardians! I think it makes sense since he was saved from the brainwashing incident in the first arc. Overall, yeah I can understand cutting it out for Crystal. That would make Motoki the only civilian who knows of their secret, and would explain how easy it would be for them to get to the control center.

@luhguren I feel like we saw it in the first season well at least the manga. But then they stopped. She was bringing people back to life in the first arc. But then queen serenity was able to revive everyone in the end of this season.

@hoop6725 glad I could help! Haha I'm working on season 3. I'm only a couple episodes in and learned something new about tokyo and how they picked the names for some areas.
This arc (specifically act 21 and 25) made me realized of why I had a love-hate relationship with the series' artstyle... When it comes to dramatic and sad scenes, Yukie Sako's crystal design SHINES beautifully. It's so expressive yet so elegant, just like how Takeuchi draws these scenes. In act 25, Pluto's last farewell, Black Lady's scream, and Usagi's expression to this situation are *mwah* kanpeki! However, when it comes to serious and intense scenes... Most of the characters look dead and inexpressive. In act 21, look at Neo-Queen Serenity's dead stare, Usagi's indifferent expression towards Demande, and more... Yeah. To me, it's not pleasant
The crystal she had was the crystal but it had no power for her to use because it was protecting the queen. We saw a similar thing in the first season. And what I have come to conclusion on is. It is magic lol. Magic doesn't always make sense hahaahah.
You're telling me that VINCENT AND RIKU HAVE BEEN IN SAILOR MOON CRYSTAL!? If I were to tell that to my younger self who didn't even know KH or FF, she wouldn't believe me.
If there was ever one single scene that I mourn the most for not being in Sailormoon Crystal, it's the 90s anime Dic english dub line from Usagi when they learn Chibiusa is their future child: Usagi: "THAT'S why she drives me nuts! SHE TAKES AFTER YOU!!" 😂 This will prolly always be my favorite arc in any version of Sailormoon. Admitedly I miss 90's Prince Demande, but I love crazy terrorist Demande! (7y/o me shipped him with Usagi, and though I'm not sure if that was because of the Usa/Mamo breakup plot that went on faaar too long and made him feel like the way better choice, or if I just liked the Hero/Villain vibe, it very much influenced my shipping tastes later in life!)
Overall, Crystal is pretty faithful to the manga, with very few major changes to the storyline, really the only one I can think of happens in the first arc with the generals being kept alive longer and having their backstory explained (Which Takeuchi only cut out of the manga for time constraints). On the more minor side, the way Beryl dies is slightly modified as Usagi, and not Minako, delivers the final blow; there's also how Demande is slightly more heroic in season 2 as he attacks Death Phantom to protect Sailor Moon unlike in the manga where he attempts to attack Sailor Moon while she fights Death Phantom; and in season 3 the only change I can think of is the removal of the daimon form for Eudial.
Venus got so shafted in season 1 and 2. Girl cannot do anything without taking an L in some kinda way (animation or just in story loss xD). Venus is best girl so this is sad T^T
This is the best series. I wonder if it’s possible to even do a trifold graph. Which events happen where it doesn’t happen in the other. Or in 2 or all 3. But I get it. That’s asking for a lot. We have 3 AMAZING solid entries in Sailor Moon: Manga, Anime Classic, Anime Crystal! Truly no one can complain.
